    Excellent install video. And I do mean excellent! Far superior to what most people put out. Should be mandatory viewing for anyone intending an install or demo video.
    If this video was out when I had my heated grips installed by the dealer, I likely would have done it myself. However, considering they don't work, it's better the dealer did the install for warranty purposes. It turns out there are several customers like me with heated grips on their TS660 that don't work for some mysterious reason. Triumph America is aware and is researching it. They tried a second pair of grips, but it didn't help. Then they replaced my speedo cluster thinking that was the cause since it's not generating enough power to the grips, but that didn't help. I now have to bring my bike in a third time Thursday for further diagnostics and investigation. My dealer has been great, but it's still frustrating.
    Glad yours are working well.

    As stated previously… one of the most comprehensive how to videos I’ve seen… I am in Pennsylvania land mid January ride today … they work great…. My BMW heated grips were not as effective… riding today in low 40s wearing fall gloves… toasty…. I’m on a Tiger 850 so upper body protection is good.

    A few notes from just having done this install finishing...4 minutes ago:
    The bar end screws have threadlocker on them, the depth of the hex is very shallow and the bolts are made semi-soft cheese. Make sure there is no taper on the end of your 4mm hex and it fits snuggly. I ended up having to drill the left one out and ground the taper off my bit for the right one.
    The throttle switch housing has a locating peg on the top that goes in a hole in the bars...make sure you are in it before tightenning anything down.
    My kit had the wires folded up in a manner that made the sheathing kink...in four places for the throttle-side. If I were to do it again, I would straighen everything out on a table and heat those kinks with a hair dryer until I could make the sheathing round again letting them cool completely afterward.
    I do find it mildly concerning a grommet to push into the hole in the bars was not pre-installed on the harness. The sheathing is of a robust material but the hole did not have eased edges on the outside and it is impossible to round them over on the inside. Smacks of the errors from the Lucas days of fine strand wires with cloth covering passing through frame holes without grommets.

      @@KSSTUDIOS Hi there, I've recently come across some posts indicating that after you install the grips you still have to go to the dealership for some sort of software update, otherwise the grips are not as warm as they could be... Have you come across this or heard of those concerns?

    • @KSSTUDIOS
      @KSSTUDIOS  Před rokem

      @@patrickorioles9768 I have not heard of this. I guess it's possible that a software update could affect the functionality. I'm not aware of that being needed on my bike.

    Great video. I am installing mine now after watching this. Just curious why you feel it necessary to disconnect the battery when it is plug & play...? If the bike is powered off, it shouldn't be an issue to plug the harness in. my $0.02.

    • @gergogonczi3741
      @gergogonczi3741 Před 10 měsíci

      Did you left the battery connected, during the installation? I try to install the grip myself within few days and I don't plan to connect the battery to keep the menu settings. in my opinion this is just a safety recommendation in the assembly instructions.

    • @KSSTUDIOS
      @KSSTUDIOS  Před 9 měsíci

      I always use manufacturer recommended instructions when doing these videos to avoid liability. Often times the extra precautions aren't necessary.

    At 10:54, Transmission Fault pops up on the dashboard for a second or less, same thing is happening with my T660, any thoughts?

    • @KSSTUDIOS
      @KSSTUDIOS  Před rokem

      Yes, this seems to happen when I shut the bike off with the kill switch instead of the key. I think the shift assist causes a false code.

    Very nice video, thank you!
    But what do you think, what should happen if I don’t unplug the battery for this session while I fitting the heated grips?

    • @KSSTUDIOS
      @KSSTUDIOS  Před 9 měsíci

      Maybe nothing, maybe a blown fuse. It's honestly not that much of a hassle to reset the dashboard after unplugging the battery. I would always recommend that method to avoid extra troubleshooting down the road.

  • @lucasss02
    @lucasss02 Před rokem

    Something that might be good to know is that a firmware bug made the grips not heat-up properly up until a few weeks ago.. the bike shop where I bought mine told me Triumph had contacted them to warn about it, and that the problem has been fixed with the latest update.

  • @LazyJacques
    @LazyJacques Před 11 měsíci

    Great vid. I know it's SOP to disconnect the battery whenever doing electrical work, but as this is a plug-and-play install directly into a dedicated harness connector, I'd be tempted to leave the battery hooked up so all your custom settings stay put. Am I missing anything?

    • @KSSTUDIOS
      @KSSTUDIOS  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I play it safe on instructional videos to avoid liability. It's probably fine, but I leave that to the viewer.
