  • Hi everyone! I'm Stephen. Mental wellness is a continuous journey that involves learning to cope with stress and anxiety, especially for individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders like schizophrenia. Here, I share my personal experiences dealing with stress, anxiety, and schizophrenia, providing insights into how I manage these challenges and maintain mental wellness. This journey is not always an easy one, but it's important to remember that we are not alone, and support from others can make a world of difference.
    Chapters:
    0:00 Introduction
    1:26 DAY 1 (Tuesday)
    4:19 DAY 2 (Wednesday)
    6:02 DAY 3 (Thursday)
7:28 Ativan (Lorazepam) for panic and anxiety and Propranolol for anxiety
    8:26 Conclusion
    DAY 1: Tuesday - A Challenging Start
On Tuesday, I found myself overwhelmed by heavy stress and anxiety despite no apparent changes in my life. This led to an unnerving whooshing sound in my right ear, which I later learned could be caused by pulsatile tinnitus. As someone living with schizophrenia, I have been prescribed a few medications, including Clozapine (Clozaril), Abilify (Aripiprazole), and Lexapro (Escitalopram), to help manage my symptoms.
When anxiety and schizophrenia symptoms flare up, I can take Ativan (Lorazepam) for panic and severe anxiety. This medication works within 15 to 30 minutes to reduce my stress levels. Additionally, I take Propranolol, a beta-blocker that helps lower my heart rate and alleviate anxiety. However, I still plan to check in with my psychiatrist to discuss these recent challenges.
DAY 3: Thursday - A Turn for the Better
Today, I feel significantly better than I did on Tuesday. Although I'm still exhausted, the whooshing sound in my ear has disappeared, and I'm in a much better place mentally. Living with schizophrenia means accepting that some days will be more difficult than others. However, the support and encouragement from those around me have been invaluable in my journey toward mental wellness.
Conclusion: The Importance of Support and Self-Care
My personal journey in coping with stress, anxiety, and schizophrenia is a testament to the importance of self-care, medication management, and reaching out for help when needed. Mental wellness is not a destination but rather a continuous process that involves learning, adapting, and seeking support.
For those living with mental health disorders, it's crucial to remember that you are not alone. By sharing our experiences and leaning on one another, we can not only survive but thrive in our journey toward mental wellness. So, thank you for joining me on this journey, and let's continue to support and encourage each other along the way.

Steven you have been fighting a terrible illness for a while now.And now since as you say, you have "woken up" you are heroically trying to reclaim as much of the daily activities (PLUS a CZcams channel)of a so called "normal " life as you can. You'd have to be crazy (pardon the expression) NOT to feel stressed out!

Stephen and I talked a lot about your comment. I think the stress came in part because of the videos. We filmed the 500 in two seasons. One was 60 minutes. There’s a lot of growth there for Stephen, but I am sure this caused stress. Thank you for helping us by posting insightful comments.

Sorry hun. I've been feeling a lot of anxiety as well. And I also get that where I can hear my heart beat and it always makes me think something is wrong with my heart. I have to convince myself that I'm ok. 😩 I feel you on the not sleeping as well. Currently 2:32 and mind is racing. But I feel exhausted. Love that 🙃 but I'm glad your meds made you more comfortable. Also your voice is super calming. Another reason why your videos rock. Anyway I'm going to watch Lord of the Rings and hope I fall asleep 👍

Hello Stephen...I am sorry to hear you’re not feeling well lately. Hope and pray you’ll feel better soon. I have a question for you, if you don’t mind answering. Have you or your Dad read any book on mental health or done any research regarding holistic therapies that might help lessen your symptoms or even help your healing. I am not a doctor, just asking a question.

Glad your feeling better now. Also, thank you for taking time to answer my question. As I mentioned, am not a doctor but I have done a lot of research and read some books regarding mental health disorders for a few years now. I have learned a lot about the different types of mental health illnesses that some people are struggling from; and available non pharmaceutical interventions that have been reported as safe and effective treatments for mental health disorders as opposed to pharmaceutical interventions that come with potential risks due to their side effects. Also, glad to know you’re exploring holistic approach and found it helpful. You are blessed to have a very supportive family especially with your Dad who is always beside you. Wishing you the very best Stephen.
