Im not making any excuses or defenses, but why would she be charged with attempted first-degee instead of second degree or assault with a deadly weapon? Unless I'm missing something... I don't think it was premeditated unless she brought the knife with her. It seemed more like the heat of the moment, and she handled her anger in the worst way possible. I know she took a plea and only got three years, but the charges seem off.
