Well well well, you're not gonna catch me not theorizing about what might be next for the Total War series in the medium to long term! But even though Medieval 3 and Empire 2 are not currently on the docket - even though that would indeed be extremely sad - what about other games? Lord of the Rings Total War? Game of Thrones Total War? Or what about Feral Interactive and their games? Might they be cooking up something, and if not a Total War Medieval 2 Remastered, could it perhaps be a Total War: Empire for iOS and Android?
Well, in the end, we can only wait and see. But until that time, I love talking about this stuff and theorizing with you! So let me know your wildest theories in the comments, and share with me your thoughts on my ideas and this video down below. Don't forget to leave a like on the video and subscribe to the channel :)

What could be genuine reasoning behind us not getting Empire 2 or Medieval 3 all these years after countless numbers of people actually asking for it?
They need to take their time and most likely know they have to do it right, we will probably see a medieval 2 remastered to give us a taste and get some feedback for medieval 3. Remember, a Shogun 2 remastered or Shogun three might come out. Empire 2 is less likely yet could happen. They could also do a new Attila because Attila was made for technology beyond it's time and a new version could work like a big fix with a new campaign. Although it is unlikely, they could do a Rome 2 remastered where certain changes are made like making Ceaser in the Gaul campaign work more like Below a ribs in Attila.
Auto correct, *more like Belisarius.
There afraid of the backlash for when they deliver, people's most requested titles, in the form of a half baked product. For example imagine if they did Empire 2 with auto resolve only naval battles, or Medieval 3, with most of the factions only being available as DLC.
Because IF they deliver Medieval 3 with only 4 factions + free Blood DLC if you preorder and start making 29,99$ DLC's per faction they KNOW it will be huge cry and complain.
They don't even have one planned at this moment so people saying "they want to do it right" can forget that. I guess the overlords at sega think the market is though niche to justify the big development costs. This is why they focused on the smaller scale shitty titles and fantasy over the last decade
The fans are wavering my lord..
My lord a entire fanbase has perished.
What a shameful display.
shamfull disssprayyy!@@godsavethequeen5783
we are losing ground
Our content creator (general) is dead!
Considering how much money, creative assembly and Sega have it is mind-boggling to me that they wouldn’t even consider a medieval 3 or Empire 2 etc. the community would eat that shit up.
They are going to ruin that game too
Immortal faction leaders kings etc
@@Killer-vi4ihnapoleon was immortal in NTW
@alajt2939 not in battle though. Easy enough to kill but would be wounded on the campaign to return after a few turns etc
@@Killer-vi4ih yeah I would hope no immortal leaders either in battle or of old age. I would like them to really put a ton of emphasis on family trees and inherited traits and whatnot, sort of borrowing from Crusader Kings. And if they die then it’s ether bad luck or you as the player put them in a far too risky situation.
They are woke and going broke. It's not about money that much anymore, its about indoctrination. If you look into biblical text, new world order passages, and pay attention to the current times, you can see that there are powers who are openly setting the stage via ANY medium, for the worship of their lord the antichrist. Specifically, revelations speaks of a woman riding the dragon and forces the world to drink from her cup. Woke/cancel culture is ALMOST exactly described in those passages. Sorry for the run on, the entire wave of evil sweeping the world is so large and encompassing, its hard to put it into a youtube comment. Notice how everything we see lately openly worships false interpretations of GOOD religions, worships satanism and its tenets, and worships self interest, yet somehow making all these things sound virtuous. Notice how many people are easily persuaded by the mediums pushing this stuff without checking ANY of its validity. Is it because people are dumb? No it can't be that because MANY woke people are very intelligent. So why masses of people of all walks of life falling prey to these harmful indoctrinations being pushed? Because our hearts as humans inherently LIKE evil, as evil is a part of all of us. So people who deny their own evil will easily adopt a higher view of themselves, and feel powerful aka foolish enough to think they can completely erase what is actually good, with what they subjective think is good. The people that are humble, and recognize their own evil and the evil in others tend to be more conscious of where they stand, and generally seek to find the right way, instead of tyrannically forcing their way on others, and they actually genuinely just want to help others.
But yes, I would definitely buy an E2 or Med3. LOL
I will wait for Medieval 2 Remaster, or Medieval 3 or Renaissance total war.
Same man, I think most of us are
Yes
The Cucky Assembly needs to hurry with shit people actually want to play!
For me it’s MTW2 remaster or bust, after everything that’s happened since the Rome 2 release. That’s my bare minimum, nothing less will do.
Medieval 3 should contain Renaissance, just like M2 did.
At this stage CA needs to justify a new purchase with a totally new game engine. If they're selling a time period, why wouldn't you just download the mod (Bronze age TW.. for e.g.)?
They need to look at every aspect of the game - mechanics, battle gameplay, visuals, performance, historical/fantasy setting, atmosphere and actually innovate (while keeping what works and what players already love from historical tw titles). This means that yearly releases go out the window. Time to rethink TW. Obvious sticking points include: unit blobbing, performance, naval battles, diplomacy options (should expand on Attila imo).. Could return to shogun-style settlements too where individual settlement sectors can be attacked. Across the franchise, the answers are probably there for the most part. Otherwise, diehard tw players just won't be bothered imo..
As someone who's been with the franchise since the first Shogun, I fully agree. Up until Empire, CA was highly innovative in its game design and came out with a new engine every few years (Shogun, Rome, Empire), each of them being cutting edge and highly impressive for its time. Since then, they've mostly been resting on their laurels and reusing the tired old Warscape engine for everything. There have been some improvements in the campaign game, but the battles feel very samey and stale over the past decade plus. I really hope that a Medieval 3 could blow me away from a technical standpoint, but I'm afraid CA just doesn't have the qualified engineers anymore who made the greats of old.
CA is working on Medieval 3 and Empire 2 electric Boogaloo
Best timeline
@@AndysTake no because they'd fuck them up
If CA fucks it up, all you have to do is go back to the older titles. If CA does it great, there’s no problem. New chances never hurt.
Dead company at this point. The we are sorry shit had no weight behind it. Same suits running things. So no changes coming before they fire the fuckers.
Would be a dream come true :p
if they tried to make a LoR or a GoT, they would be competing with almost all of their own games simply because they each have their own mods for them.
they would have to be really unique to be worth peoples time.
Not everybody uses mods. Their mod success could be proof there is demand and if they did it they would actually have to get licenses which also means they tap into the whole audience for LOTR or GOT, it’s a smart play to do it IMO / you could even hire a lot of the modded themselves
I am still holding out for a Medieval 3 with three different start dates like the original game. I guy can dream can't he?
One can always dream but I fear in the modern market the alternate start dates are sold separately at 20 a piece.
Even I want Med 3 at this point. i mean rome, GoT, LOTR,..... could be modded into that so easily,
Haha you know shit’s serious when even you want Medieval 3
If they only made modding possible without all the stupid shit they put in place to make it harder.
No Empire 2 .... Then give us a Victory Total war with a global spanning map and we can call it even .....
*Victoria
The title: "The wildest Total War theories just might come true!"
The video: rehashing the same five theories we've heard a million times while presenting no new evidence
That’s why they’re theories and not evidence. Feral might be the biggest joker up the sleeve here
It's Hyenas 2.
Give us Empire2. Make the AI smarter, the wars more flowing and add some more units. Take my money then.
3K music always makes me think about how superior that game was
Glad you liked it, wish they had expanded it to the actual 3K era!
3k downfall was the ui
@@benedictjajo I kinda liked the UI. Unit cards were not super clear tho. I always used the alternative ones
😂
@@benedictjajo absolutely agree, completely illegible especially on the campaign
Let them fix their (older) games first before on starting again on new stuff. Like ETW, NTW, Shogun 2 etc...(maybe a conversion to a 64bit engine for example).
I’d love that but… the chance of them doing this is even WILDER than them making something new we all want
I think Shogun 2 is the best streamlined modern total war game
It just works good, looks good even years later,
And most important
G U N S !
@@steyn1775 It is indeed the best TW in the Warscape engine. But there are limitations with a 32bit engine. With a 64 one you get more possibilities.
@@izzitfs2311 yeah yeah I know, but my pc is very strong and can easily handle 40+ units plus the enemy
And I am currently using Morning Sun mod that adds Korea, China and some more land complete with units and rasters and all
Dude I would so buy a “Game of Thrones” total war in a split second
New medieval would be great. And then they could make DLC like Kingdoms. Have an Italian campaign with new papal mechanics - oh and now those are also back in the grand campaign. I would eat these DLCs up for YEARS.
As for a missing era, I would actually love them to make the age where EU series starts - late medieval age/early modern era. 16th and 17th century Europe full of religious politics and wars, Ottoman and Russian empire becoming real menaces, America potentially playing some role eventually as well for Spain and England... I would enjoy that...
Mesopotamia is needed in Pharaoh. That is the ONLY way this game surivies. Without it, it will always feel like SOMETHING is missing. I keep arguing: Mesopotamia is NEEDED in Pharaoh.
Pharoah is poo-poo and probably just needs to be flushed 💩
We need A musket and bayonet era not no more sword and shield
yeah 1530 era in japan
So in an interview one of CAs employees maybe the director or whatever, said they wanted a dedicated team for fantasy stuff. It wasn't implied that team was just for WH fantasy but for all and any future fantasy games.
I remember there being news last year of CA hiring a motion-capture actor that specialized in medieval combat. I wonder what project he's being used for
yeah same, I have no idea! That's what got me so piqued, but then... I mean... it couldn't have been Pharaoh, right? RIGHT?!
It was likely for Pharoah
@@danielc9967 This guy was hired only last year I believe, I'm not sure they would start doing mocap just months before launch
Probably for a new unit in thrones of decay dlc@thunderbagel3886
3:30, "offering both pvp and pvp action" just a funny little catch, that game looks really fun though. Thank you for the video man
Noooo lol haha thank you! 🙏
0:06 - that’s exactly my question too
Great minds, Medjay
imagine a modern warfare total war that would be pretty cool to see but its a little hard to imagine what the gameplay would be
I’m sick of seeing swords in total war. I want a classic gunpowder total war like Napoleon and empire.
This is what happens when there’s no competition in the genre. Hopefully manor lords will serve that niche. Not getting my hopes up though
Ok, I have subscribed for 2 reasons. 1: you make videos on strategy games. 2: youre norwegian.
Oh shit, I thought you were Swedish Andy?! UNSUBSCRIBED.
Feral should do both mobile ports and remasters, at least Medieval 2 remastered is a must! Specifically with the mobile version being so great, they even added the Mongols to be playable in the Teutonic campaign, that is the first time the Mongols are playable in a total war game!!
In terms of lotr games we are promised at least 5 new games from various random studios (we have had 2 already) the first being Gollum and the second being return to Moria which was a mining and crafting style of RPG where you play as a dwarf, it’s possible the other 3 lotr games one of which could be secretly acquired by CA, heck I would even go for an lotr conquest or battle for middle earth 2 remaster at this point
Honestly, my perspective is pessimistic. I've been a total war player sense 2001. After years of hope, I have lost all faith in CA and I dont expect to ever see Empire 2 or Med 3. With the state of Pharoah and just the general feel of the new games recently, how can we really expect something like a flushed out ,cared for and properly developed and resourced grand historical title and a return or update on some of the mechanics of the older games that made TW so distinct and rich at its peak. I don't think they will ever deliver something epic. I hope that I am wrong, but I think the best of CA and the franchise is behind us unfortunately.
I’d be interested to see CA cover the era in the 1500’s - 1600’s. there’s lots going on especially with pike and shot era warfare, the age of exploration, and CA should cover areas like the americas, Europe, and Japan. This would be such a good idea because so much history happened in that timeline. I’d love to see the map scale similar to empire total war
I may be a rooten disc but I'm really hyped foir a Medieval 2, Shogun 2, Shogun 1 and a Medieval 1 Remaster. I'm hoping my dream will come true at some point. Medieval 3 is also another game I'm rooting for as for Empire 2. Finger crossed!
PUA is amazing! It has me hooked on Empire again
I've been playing the crap out of High Tide and loving it
I'm glad you're loving it!
I'm saying it now I doubt will get a grand campaign of empire or medieval so we need to adjust to something that we don't want to narrow it down.
Maybe the rumors are true, that CA are currently making a 40K game. It could theoretically work, if they made a story about there being some kind of mcguffin or whatever on some planet that everyone wants, for some reason or other. There probably aren't going to be several planets in it, I suspect. Total War games seem to work better when you have on single giant sandbox map that everyone can play around in.
I hope we get Medieval 3, if they go for a fantasy game I think GoT would be perfect for a Total War game
My next total war purchase will be Empire 2, nothing else
Ok hear me out, first try the grand map idea with Troy/pharaoh ie entire med THEN we go back to shogun and do a combined samurai / Chinese / Mongal / Korean War for the east 👀👀
Bro we need a medieval 3 or maybe even a WW1 total war
After the massive commercial success of the WH series, I'm sure many fantasy franchises have thought about contracting with Sega / CA. But if anything is in the pipeline, we would have heard the news by now. CA got the Warhammer license in 2012 and released the first Warhammer in 2016. If LotR or GoT games are ever in development, we would have heard licensing deals years ago. All that's to say, unless Sega can transfer 40k license from Relic and CA, there shouldn't be a mainstream fantasy TW in development.
Manorlord will be my next total war game...
As a longtime player of the series (MTW1 to ToB), and also a past (and present) dev for the Chivalry TW mod. I’m essentially a lost customer already, however if there is no MTW 2 remaster (or at the very least, MTW3), I’ll be done with CA for good, and will only pour scorn on the company with no turning back..
What of the guys making from scratch their own version of Total War : Broken Rampart Interactive (see their CZcams Channel) ?
I would love to see a new online fantasy game. Create a Total War universe similar to the Warhammer universe with an online game and dedicated publishing house. Create a fantasy-based TW universe with up to 1000 worlds to be fought over. Update the history and dialogues of the worlds as the game progresses with a team of writers. These same writers can then create story books based on the events in the game sold through a CA-TW publishing house. The game would be a multi-player online universe for Total War. There are multiple races with different pantheons aligned in factions across races. These alignments via for control across all the worlds. Players can act as a god, a character or a nation. Think Dungeons and Dragons meet Total War with different styles of play (TW style, RPG style and an overview god level).
What is the mod depicted at 5:45? Looks really interesting
I think Fireforged Empires, just came out recenty.
I would pay plenty for R.E.Howard's World of Conan ( Hyborian Age )
As a historical total war player I really wouldn't mind a lord of rings, game of thrones or even Witcher universe style total war game. I believe a medieval game deserved a trilogy before Warhammer did, even Rome deserved a true trilogy although Attila is basically Rome 3. Some would argue showgun deserves a trilogy and they wouldn't be wrong.
Story about crusader would be great
But in 3k romance style
After Warhammer was released, I haven't played any total war series at all... many years passed to this year. I decided to play Shogun 2 Total war because it felt so damn good to play on my newest PC and it is still a great game for old time total war folk. I have watched and listening how was going on other CA's game. Never liked warhammer and those meh sized semi-fantasy Troy and Pharaod who we never asked it was not drag me at all.
All these suggestions and guesses, I have a feel CA will make Thrones of Britannia 2 next.
I wish they would make DLC for ToB still.
I’d like to see them Create a new fantasy game, like Lord of the rings or Game of thrones, but I’d also like a historical and I’d say we’re over due for Medieval 3 and Empire 2 or even Nepolion 2 I’d like those 2 put together and have a massive 17/18/19th century game!
pretty simple i dont get the title i want, i dont give them my money. more people need to start doing the same. Your wallet speaks bounds to these companies.
Awesome to see you back with more uploads Andy
MEDIEVAL 3 TOTAL WAR
I want another black powder age game
If CA doesn’t invest in a new engine and make a good game they might get their customers back . But they have to work for it . Because every one got tire of plain games . They need to introduce new mechanics and not let the modders do all the work lol …
Every time I hear what they are doing the only thing that rings in my head is- "SHAMEFUL DISPLAY!" LMAO
If it isn't historical....I don't think so!
A crusades campaign mod for Pharaoh would be awesome!
This would honestly work so well. The landscape could be way more detailed with more turns per year, making campaign map movement actually strategic and nessesary to plan. Then the great roster diversity, interesting time period, nice late-game challenge with the mongols or mid-game challenges with the third/fourth crusade. One can dream.
@@HPS-Wes Ikr. The scale of Pharaoh’s campaign map would feature the Crusader’s, Egyptians, Turks, and Byzantines!
honestly if they do a lord of the rings total war would be a major hit even if they do not fully optimise it and they have plenty of options for expansions time periods like 1st age 2nd age and 3rd age make 3rd age the main game it would be asome and heroes being actual heroes would be fine here too
They should release a game that starts in 1825 and goes to 1930. That would be similar to the bread and butter but interesting in that it would have a modern feel
Historical-anything between 1066-1900, or Lord of The Rings.
I always thought a TW Victoria would be a logical choice, but build it in modules... start with perhaps the European conquest of Africa or perhaps the early wars in Mexico... Mexican Independence.... Texas etc... and then module onto that things like Crimea, ACW, Greek War of Independence... a dozen wars in South and Central America... the Ottoman-Persian War Basically you build an Later Empire Total War 2... but in manageable chunks. The logic of that is that it was largely a period of localized conflict.... and some really fluid alliances... with the Ottomans going to war at some point with every man and his dog!!
If CA intends to use the same game engine and mechanics as the one in Pharaoh, then it might be best for Medieval 3 or Empire 2 to not come out at all or the dissapointment will be huge.
Atleast Lord of the Rings is low fantasy enough to be modded into MTW3 lol.
Yeah, then there’s the question of map modding though… which Attila JUST received so no idea how many years that would take, if any
WW1: rifles, granades, flamethrowers, machineguns, mortars, howitzers, planes, armored trains, vehicles, ships, ... Really total war!!!
Song Of Ice and Fire Total War? I dunno, maybe it would work
I would love a Lord of the rings total war game maybe set during the war that "killed" Sauron. I also wouldn't mind a total war Star wars the old Republic game
Wild theory but I heard a while back a new star wars rts is in the works by an unknown company it would be interesting if it was ca doing it. Just a personal want though star wars empire at war with mods only scratches the itch only so much, that's if ca continues going toward other fantasy genres but really I would love a rome 3
I think a Napoleonic era but with north Amarica added
At this point I’m completely fine with medevil 2 remastered
yeahhhh ferall, make it happen empire total war on mobile soon
Another thing they need to do for total war pharaoh they need to make the blood DLC free but that’s probably never gonna happen
Spartan 2 Total Warrior 🤞
Its unbelievable that they dont market a medieval 3 soon.
I am loving the mobile versions of the total war games. Rome and Med 2 are amazing, i can run them on a motorola g9 for christs sake without lag! I think i have totaled more time in the mobile versions than what i did on PC! So empire total war refresh with FIXES i'd play the shit out off.
I was introduced to the total war franchise when Rome came out on IOS, never looked back since!
Yea ive only played the mobile games. They are amazing!
Some great grand campaign historical game locations could be India, the Americas, or east Africa.
Imagine a Medieval 3 with some ck3 mechanics
Victorian era Total War
Ww1, my dude, new era, you got it. Wanted hell yeah, who wouldn't ?
When is Medieval 2 remastered?
I don't know. I just got a hunch they might be working on a Warhammer 40k game. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I honestly think so. It will demand a new engine as it's not like medieval warfare at all. But it could be a massive game. Especially as Henry Cavill is making the tv-series.
I think Pharaoh was / is a failure
I'm all in for a Total War Game of Thrones 😄
The fantasy stuff was a real turn off, at least for me. They need to focus on historical content, can anyone imagine a WW2 Total war? 😂
16th to 17th century total war w a global map. Imagine Catholic Samurais retaking constantinople from the moslems hahaha
I would live Med 3 or Shogun 3
Both lotr and got are heavily present in mods especially for medieval 2
I just downloaded the last version of dac by far the best mod of lotr and the best strategic game set in lotr universe
I would sincerely love to play a modern lotr total war. I am following dawnless days and waiting for its release but it could be years before a complete campaign map
The same could be said for got
Both setting have perfect adaptability with the total war formula
And after warhammer total war we have proof that creative assembly can deliver good games with a fantasy setting
Both setting are way less fantasy of warhammer with got being practically a non fantasy setting once you ignore the white walkers and Daenerys dragons
Both game would be a huge hit with fans and both have decades of lore and charachters to utilize
Ca please do them
Would love to see a GOT TW game!
The franchise needs more then anything new mechanics, new visuals, new maps maybe JUST it needs something NEW. This idea and building block is up for 10 years now and maybe its time to move on and make something new that is better.
The fact that they never planned to developed new engine while keep developing new games suggest they never wanted any breakthrough in the franchise.
they to bring physics and realism , i want to be able to win with less units (or worse) toa tecnically better army , using strategy and thiking , while in the moder games like troy or warhammer , is so stats based that is almost impossible if you dont have the "correct" units , to win against a better army , i miss to hold a town whith a couple of pahalanks, epic last standing
The thing is @AndysTake that Feral isn't working in any remaster. Not a bullshit leak, but a confirmation forn one of the guys that worked in rome remastered. So even if ca change something, and order a remaster in the next months you will not see anything until 2025 winter ir early 2026.
if they add mortality and succession I'll buy immediately. that's my main issue with the game at this point.
Morrowind Total War would be nice. :D
I just hope has all the same mechanics as medieval 2
Total War arena is coming back?
Now that would be a wild one indeed!
Too good to be true...
I can't see Sega and CA doing a huge move here.
If they had anything different from current production in the pipeline after Pharo, they would already mention it. Of course, you could argue that they want to wait until the debacle with Pharo dies out, but would this ever? With the upcoming dlcs they do the right move and try to fix the mess and show people "look, we can do it right"... but it's still a valiant effort. It's not Pharo alone that put them in the position right now. It's most of their choices for the last couple of years.
They show all the time that they can come up with some pretty interesting Ideas, from gameplay, to scenario to package. But they lose out on in their marketing and planing. The Saga series as a whole isn't a wrong Idea. Experimenting with smaller settings and new game mechanics is a nice idea. But it became too bloated? Overpriced? I wouldn't even know if it's better to sell it as DLCs for an already sold main title or as a cheaper standalone. What was sad is, that they seemed to copy some of their older works, like Thrones of Britannia. The same mechanics could have been used in a setting inside of France, Spain or other part of the world.
Of course, they could partner with another established franchise. But this would probably have a lot of problems. First they would of course need the license and that means spending money. Then it's easy to see that a lot of comparison to WH will be drawn and one could make you feel like playing the same game, while also drawing off player from WH they already try to keep somehow.
And with all this uncertainty, what would the actual gain for Sega and CA be? Pharo showed that having the Total War title is now guaranteed success anymore. Engine and Gameplay are highly criticized and would be in need of overhaul and investment.
Of course, doing reworks of older titles and ports to mobile isn't so fare fetched It will not really fix their bad reputation. At least not when it's too expensive. Is €30 for Rome Remastered a good choice? I don't want to question the work people put into it, but I already have the game just a bit older. That they increased the potential of the engine for the Modding community is of course a huge incitation.
I guess I already mentioned this in another video some months ago, but I think the best course of action right now would be to make, small sized DLCs for any and all currently available Total wars (expect M2TW and older) and garner some support from the player base. Like I said, they do have some excellent Ideas and if we got old technic anyway, they can pick the one up we already own. But of course DLCs for of the older TW like Attila or Rome2 aren't really popular. Can't say if just making them cheaper would fix this. Of course expanding the limitation for modders like Star Wars empire at war did some years ago would also be nice.
New Medieval since 2015 waiting
