I was in Job’s Daughters as a kid, and while I couldn’t say I know the ins and outs by any means, the Masons were always super nice to us and would donate to our charity events and support us. We had “secret” things and it was just symbolic. To be in that organization, you have to be related to a Master Mason. My grandpa that passed before I was born was one, so as how I joined. It helped me with public speaking and it reminded me of a cross between Girl Scouts and church. We did lots of charity work and things for our local community. I had a good time and didn’t see any weirdness. That being said, I’m an atheist as an adult.
I was a Rainbow Girl, an organization sponsored by the Masons. The rituals were based mainly on Christian scripture. The "secret password" and such were harmless and typical of fraternal organizations. The Masons were kind people and bless them for attending all our meetings and activities! I've never known a group of adults so involved and willing to participate with and sacrifice their time for the youth in their community. I learned a lot by being in Rainbow Girls.

It's the oaths they take I have a problem with. The freemasonic oath supercedes any other oath taken after. Even the presidency. So when you have people in high levels of influence etc. Police, judges, lawyers, school members. You have conflicting interests imo
I remember being specifically told during my initiation that they are not asking me to do anything that goes against my religious believes or my duties to the Country. The oath is to help other Masons if in need, if asked and if they are deemed worthy. Meaning we don't have to help them if they are a rotten person. It encourages us to help our fellow man in the same manor, but demands it of our Brothers. And the Bill of Rights outlines our core values. The motto of Freemasonry is "audi, vide, tace" - hear, see and be silent. Why are there so many degrees in Freemasonry? What do you learn if you rise in the degrees? According to wikipedia, 14 presidents of the United States were freemasons. A lot of other famous people were freemasons like Buzz Aldrin, Henry Ford, Cecile B. Demille, Steve Wozniak etc.. Whats the point of beeing a freemason if this is just a harmless gentlemens club and the only thing you can gain by joining is that you have to learn a lot of weird rituals by heart and waste your lifetime by attending their meetings?
