This is one of Dylan’s advices, I never understand why she says that. Her theory is that Etsy boosts your account the first 3 months, if you don’t make sells there, they won’t boost you and honestly that’s BS, if your stuff is bad you won’t sell even if you open 30 new stores

I usually dont comment ...100% agree ....i started 2 years ago, did nothing, came back and im fine with my shop .i know the results im receiving now are the result of my own actions. I have a lot lot to learn still you guys are amazing
I saw the Dylan Jahraus short video with this advice.
She’s trying to scare people into believing that the ONLY way to succeed on Etsy is to take her course…otherwise you are doomed to fail miserably
@@user-mw1ix4lx7j Almost every CZcams channel is trying to sell a course, because they know all new shops on Etsy haven't started making much money yet. As if the money they make from subs isn't enough.
This is so me. I go reopen my shop starting in August, ending in January. What sells sells, I spend the rest of the year making different things and introduce them next time around.

I opened a handmade soap shop in January, and still haven't gotten even one visit. My SEO sucks, but my listing photos are great. Due to a tragedy in the family, I didn't continue to put up listings or work on it.
However, I am revamping this shop into a combination of POD and handmade products to form a "bath boutique", and will be studying SEO, keywords, etc. There is always a way to change a negative trajectory into a successful one.
I heard the same advice on just closing the failed shop, and it made no sense. Time, experience, and becoming educated in my new business is the cure, not killing it before it even begins!

I had a shop in 2010 for about 6 months and never did anything with it. Had about 5 sales. I reopened and redesigned the shop in 2023, completely changed what I’m selling, and I have almost 3000 sales in 10 months.

As Chris mentioned, behind this (yes, silly) advice is the thinking not that etsy will penalize you because your shop is not performing but rather that you are losing the advantage of etsy giving your shop an initial "boost" after a few weeks... I've heard that before, some of them advising that are starting to back out of this advice, also if you are closing and opening a new etsy shop every few months because some "etsy guru" told you to do it, good luck with your business and life in general...
I read in the documentation that your shop has a shop score. Please read the documentation carefully.
I think you misunderstood. Of course you have a shop score, just like you have a listing score, but that doesn't mean you delete your shop and start over.
I was one that had a shop that had a haiatus and then started anew with new products and niche
I have a 2 month old shop with 8 sales. Two reviews, both 3 stars, both complaints about the colour not matching the picture (I hand dye leather so it always comes out slightly different, but it's my bad for not making this more clear in the descriptions). Having a 3 star average rating on etsy seems like a death sentence. My views have plummeted and I have had no sales since I got those reviews. Should I just start over again?
Clarify the listings, sort out the review with the customer and worst case, you can always respond to it to clairfy :)
@@brandcreators I already responded publicly. Neither spoke proper enough english to really be able to reason with. Seems the algorithm has already dropped me from search results and there's nothing I can do.

If Etsy closes shops for a minor thing, imagine opening new shops every month 😅
Not only is this super silly - but what about on and off seasons? I've gone months with nothing but crickets and then *boom* a holiday hits and there's sales. This sets a truly unrealistic expectation, especially for someone just starting out. Thank you guys for calling BS on this!
Just to let you know that I started to list few items (100 items) in 2010 and till 2019 I had just 30 sales and now I have yearly 60000 sales in my store. Now I have 260 listings and generating 3500-4500 sales per month. It is handmade paper store. Pack and ship by myself!
Now I am running 8 POD STORES
$60000 sales per year not items
I would LOVE to have made sales within 45 days of opening my shop. Some people are lucky that way. The truth is... it takes time. There are A LOT of shops on Etsy. Unless have a unique product that is in high demand, it's just not reasonable to expect sales right out the gate.
My store has had tons of looks but no sales 3 months 400 visits, a ton of likes and kudos but no sales. HUMMMM. Economy is bad and i feel that people just are not spending. NOT GIVING UP!!!
Same here. Great feedback from Etsy peers in a shop review, implemented most of the suggestions. Hundreds of views, some favs, but no sales :-( I'm doing handmade art , so not a seller 'need', but a 'want' ... and in this economy, if I'm not even found in serious buyer searches, it's not a viable biz.
From.a business sense, I can't believe a 'guru' would say anything like that. A Business will never be good if it is always closing.

Don’t chop it down before it grows. You need to nurture and take care of it in order for you to see growth!
I don't think people should be giving any kind of business advice unless they're successful themselves then again what works for them might not work for everybody else It's kind of like a prescription

Another piece of horrible advice brought to you by Dylan Jahraus. People need to stop listening to her already 🤦🏽♀️ she preys on the poor first-time or inexperienced sellers
I watched her and actually paid the high high cost for her course. She gave bad advice like this all the time. It was a mistake and I don't listen to her anymore.

it does show a lack of intelligence for the Etsy platform, sad thing is.....imagine how many desperate people are listening to this advice and opening shop after shop...and paying the $15 each time.
