    Hi Deb, I think your Agnes tee looks fabulous. I don’t think it’s too clingy. It’s very flattering on you. And I absolutely love the skirt. The fabric is gorgeous.

    Kristie from Boo is lovely and really helpful. I was even brave enough to overlock the elastic on and then fold over and zigzag. The sleeved zip swim suit is fabulous for children.

    Wow Deb lots going on. I love that skirt pants pattern. When you mentioned yards for that pattern l wondered where the pattern came from. Looking forward to your art deco dress and that fabric is really nice. Laughed at your comment about great looking bums in bathers wandering around the shops! As an old girl similar age to you, even when l had a great bum not flat but round would l ever do that….definitely not. Hahaha…how things change!

      I know Cat, it certainly is a bums out time, I’m shocked when I go to the beach let alone the shops, just jealous I think, I would have worn that when I was 18 years old, I remember my mother saying “you look like you are naked in that bikini”, I did make the bikini and it was brief. Now I’m thinking can I make boy leg bathers 🤣🤣. I think the pattern must have come out of a magazine I purchased. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Ooohh wwweee you are going to be busy! 😂 Great plans Deb. I'll be particularly interested in the Tabor by SewHouse 7, that's been on my radar forever. Really love your Stina Skirt, the Venice fabric makes it look very 50's vintage and it'll look so great with the white Style Arc shirt you showed us. Have an amazing week

    Hi Deb. You are looking lovely in the dress you have on. You have been busy with your makes. I make swimmers for my grandchildren and use Boodesigns elastic. I find their elastic works well and lasts the lifetime of the garment. I just zigzag and twin needle to finish off. I don’t have a cover stitch. Happy sewing 🧵 🪡 💐

I have looked up how to sew the elastic and I think I will zigzag on the use the coverstitch machine, I think I have purchased fabric from them before. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    You are a "Dinamo"; wouldn't be surprised if your sewing machine demanded a vacation! 😍 Your work is beautiful.
    Have you gone to the shops to try on different fabrics / styles of fitted shirts? I personally found that exercise enlightening.
    Cheers and happy sewing. Joan

      Hi Joan, I did think that when I was doing more of the machine quilting on the bag, it just goes hammer and tong and I hoped I wasn’t killing my machine. I have been to the shops, it does give me an idea of what to make, there are many lovely ready to wear shirts around that fit me, jeans I can only find Levi jeans to fit properly, it is a good exercise to do, and the Curated Closet gives you an exercise to do just that, although the book is not about sewing, it is well worth it, I do the same thing when I buy foundation, put it in in the shop, usually Myer, wear it home and see how it looks in a few hours time, as they all look pretty good when you first put it on. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    I love your skirt, especially that it is lined; the t-shirt is a bit clingy but maybe a FBA and also use a bamboo fabric, if you can find one. I have similar issues around the bust and hate to over emphasis it too much; But the total outfit look is fabulous ❤

    Love your skirt and the fabric - have been looking for something similar since trying on a blouse with a similar pattern in TS14+. Would love to see a video explaining the pleat vs gathered skirt process. It was actually a search for the Alana dress that brought me here - as a beginner, I’d love to see a sew along, that pleated waist is daunting!

      Hi Sally, another subscriber just asked about how to pleat instead of gather so I will put together a video to explain how I do this, as I use this quite often to get a skirt joined to a bodice to sit flat. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    I love your bathers. The fabric is so nice. Mine are not great. Not loving the process. Sewing the slippery fabric is not fun. I think I need a different pattern. I'm hoping the end result is rewarding 😂😂. I hope yours are much more cooperative. 😊😊 Sorry I can't be more help with the elastic. I think I got mine from either Spotlight or the remnant warehouse. Hello Deb. Thank you for another 'inspiring' vlog! I, too have the Stina skirt pattern, but I haven't sewn it up, I also have the same Lady McElroy fabric (in the darker colorway), and am now considering making the skirt from the fabric. Could you please share what lining you use and where you buy it from please? The yoga bag is going to be fantastic and what a great idea you have of sewing around the fabric design (I hope you know what I mean...). I couldn't agree with you more regarding the YKK zips. Keep cool this Wednesday, it will be hotter here in Bendigo. Take care xxx

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668
      @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668  Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks Alison, I usually use what I call bemsilk lining, I usually buy from super cheap fabrics but after going there the other day I think I would prefer to buy on line as there factory is so messy, here is the link, supercheapfabrics.com.au/products/lining-orange-120cm, they have many colours in stock and a few widths, you can just search lining and it will come up. With my first two skirts I used silk I had dyed in light purple, I do prefer a silky feel lining rather than a cotton lawn as I think it hangs better and does puff out which is what I wanted to avoid for a smooth look over the hips. The yoga bag fabric just so happened to have the large images I could stitch around and is coming together nicely. I love the YKK zips too, if you’re going to the effort of sewing something yourself I think it is worth it. It will be hot in Bendigo on Wednesday, I hope you have aircon, have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Hi Deb, your skirt is simply stunning. You mentioned that you are more likely to sew pleats rather than gathers in a skirt. Would you apply that same principle to a dress where the pattern calls for a gathered skirt to be attached to a bodice? Also, do you have a rough formula for calculating depth of pleat and number of pleats? I learn so much from your videos - they are excellent. 🌸

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668
      @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks Julie, I do sew pleats in dress skirts when the skirt is supposed to be gathered, the first one that comes to mind is the Jolie dress by Nerida Hansen that I made the other day, it was supposed to be gathered but I pleated it instead. I usually make the pleats about 1cm deep, starting from the sides and creating a pleat on each side so it stays even working my way towards the centre, I just space them visually until it fits the bodice, so a little bit of a fiddle but to me it’s worth it as I want it to sit flat. I make the back the same as the front, hope this helps. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

    Deb, I have also recently made my own swimwear. I used 6mm rubber swimwear elastic and stitched it i in with my overlocker. You just overlap it at the end. My first try was not perfect but I am now happy after my third attempt. I do not have a coverstitch so just fold it over after stitching in the elastic and sew it down with a 3step zigzag

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668

      Hi Mardine, I have ordered rubber elastic, but have purchased clear rubber, I will give that a try. I was hoping for just a single pass on the coverstitch machine but I don’t think that’s possible.
