Let's see if this movie will *DRIVE* it's way to box office success 🏎️
Drive mentioned! Real (Literally Me)
Surely it will Adam Driver its way to box office failure?
has just only touched 20 million globally. Box office nuke.
dod not come at norwegian cinema at all?!?!?!?!
I just don't understand movies like Napoleon, Maestro, and Ferrari making all the cool stuff an afterthought in favor of relationships we don't care about
That’s a great point
It’s trying to be about the person themselves rather than the icon that we already know. Maestro does it well, the other two maybe not
It's the trailer. Most of the time, the trailer looks more exciting than the movie itself.
Napoleon was terrible 😶
May I ask, what kind of "cool stuff" ?
It was a movie about three people in a relationship with adultery. It also had some race cars.
Perfect summary
When it was over, my first thought was "that's it?". There's like 4 storylines going on at once and Mann never really commits to any of them.
@ericgarcia3640 just watched it. That was exactly my reaction. Where was the climax of the film? No true stakes were present.
I just got out of the theater after seeing it. Literally everybody was super disappointed. Everybody thought it was lame, people were yawning and just in general kind of angry at the entire experience. People felt like they were lied to and the trailer show the very few good parts of the movie, while we all had to sit through a lame Lifetime TV drama show. This could have easily just been on Apple TV or Amazon Prime as a c movie and never seen the big screen.
yes same! I just saw it a couple hours ago and i was like...what now? my fav part was Penélope Cruz and the jump scare of Patrick Dempseys hair lmao (I never saw the trailers so idk if he was shown with the blinding hair)
@@SunnyHF-nf4bcthe climax was when the 6 year old in the theater with me started crying cuz of the crash scene and wouldn’t stop crying til the movie ended.
@@averagepufferfish5612you managed to get a 6 year old into an R rated movie 🤔 interesting
I really don’t understand the hate. I was super entertained throughout the entirety of the film. The relationship between Enzo and his wife was done amazingly, and the racing scenes were awesome. The weakest point in the movie is the ending as it really does not wrap up a lot of what was happening during the duration of the film.
@benfm3402 You answered your own question with your last sentence.
@@SunnyHF-nf4bc one weak point doesn’t ruin the entire entertaining experience of the film.
@@benfm3402 What are the parts of a story? Intro, rising action, climax, resolution. What were the climax and resolution of this film? What we got was a bunch of unfocused storylines, barely any character development, and no true stakes.
Have you seen Michael Man’s other great films? I still can’t believe he’s the one that directed this film.
@@SunnyHF-nf4bcIt’s a retelling of historical events. Enzo and his wife were dysfunctional. He at first hid his second family and then at the end realized it was right to be with them. The stakes were the entirety of Ferrari not being able to exist if the race was not won. Its history.
@@benfm3402 Imo, they did not do a good job conveying that to the audience. The big crash scene and the aftermath needed more screen time to emphasize that. Also, the sex scenes could’ve been cut out; they really didn’t help the film at all.
It’s not to say that there wasn’t potential, it just feels like all I watched was the body of an essay and no resolution.
The movie definitely wasn't your typical biopic. It was just a snapshot during this brief period of his life. Which is fine. I didn't really connect with the movie either tho.
I liked the movie mostly because it gave me more context to the movie Ford v Ferrari, its almost like a prequel to that.
If you haven't, I would highly recommend reading the book "Go Like Hell" by A.J. Baime. It's FvF but with a _ton_ more context, both from Ford's _and_ Ferrari's perspectives. This book pre-dates the movie, and it was written so well and in a style that could have been translated into a much better movie that left audiences a little split on who to root for. Not that I don't enjoy FvF, I still rewatch it every now and then. Looks like there's an audio version, too, if books aren't your thing.
Adam Driver is an unbelievable actor with an unbelievable range
He was the same in this movie as in his others, didnt come across as Italian, but as a Mafia boss.
I saw Ferrari last night; this movie just ...blew me away! My expectations were low due to Michael Mann's previous movie ie diabolical Ambulance from a few years ago, I understand that people go into this movie expecting full on car racing from start to finish like Ford V Ferrari from a few years back but as a bi pic (which I was unaware of it being going into) this just blew me away, I thought it was just phonemial to be honest & that scene towards the end ...holy shit! 😮 I thought Adam Driver was *shove an Oscar into his hand already* astonishing, Penelope Cruise just stole the show, for some reason this movie reminded me of The Godfather. I loved Ferrari easily my No.1 movie of 2023 by 100miles! Are you going to be doing a best & worst movies of 2023 list?
Going to see it again immediately myself.
Yeah I wasn't engaged and I was checking out alot as well....I love Manns work as well Austin,It just was flat in the water
I’d like to see Adam portray Joey Ramone.. With a really good script and a more than competent director on the helm..
IT SUCKED. I almost walked out 40 minutes in, then thought to myself, "Surely they'll give us an epic race to make it worth the wait." ... Nope. Two hours of my life, I'll never get back.
Multiple people walked out in our theater at about an hour and 30 minutes in or so. I've never seen that before, this movie was so trashed that it made people leave even though they knew there was a supposed to be a climax. This movie is terrible nobody should see it do not waste your money.
Adam Driver is driving. 🤣
*points and agrees
Being an F1 fan, with no prior knowledge of the movie or its plot, I was kinda hoping and expecting it to be a "highlights" movie concept. I would have loved to see his role and part at Ferrari through the ages, the whole Lambourghini thing, the races and so on.....But I was pleasently surprised with the product I got. Shot beautifully, did justice to it being an Italian story lol and all the stereotypes of amazing countryside and love. The crashes were....pretty fake lol, but its a small flaw thats easy to look past. I was glad to learn about the man in a moment of time. Ford v. Ferrari covered what happens after this movie, and there are plenty of documentaries on Ferrari the F1 team and Enzo himself during those times to cover the gaps this movie chose to ignore. It chose to focus on the man himself. It chose to focus on his wife, his son who died, and his son who lives. It focused on the story we would never get from a racing documentary, or a movie about Ferrari the company. The man was the story and thats what they told. And I loved it for that. Great movie imo. If youre a car person, a racing person or a history junkie, Id reccomend it for you. 8/10 for me. It gave me everything I didnt know I wanted.
Where to watch this movies?
Thanks for an honest review. The only other Adam Driver movie I've seen is when he played Kylo Ren in Star Wars. I thought he was great!
I love Adam in Logan Lucky. He plays himbo very well
I thought this movie was going about to be about cars and racing. It overly focused on his love affair..
yep. I wanted to leave after 30 minutes.
Just saw it. Disappointed. I like so much of what Michael Mann has done in the past. But this movie is ulitmately uninteresting. Ford V Ferrari was an very well made movie. You empathized with those characters. WIth "Ferrari" all the acting is just very mundane. I couldn't really care less about any of the characters. The CGI is horrible. I hope this is just a hiccup for Michael Mann as it is not good story telling.
So just watch Ford Vs Ferrari instead?
Oh yeah
I wish Mann directed “Napoleon” and Ridley Scott directed “Ferrari.” Can they switch?
Personally, it just felt like the movies was missing the link with the audience.. I didn't feel like i was getting "sucked into" the movie, at the end i just felt like "Uhm.. Okay"... The movie also just starts somewhere and just ends somewhere which doesn't make it better either.. The 2003 movie was a overall better "ferrari" movie..
This review seems to have a, 'twin' in the Maestro being not too "engaging", in parts...and "madness" and/or "sadness" 😅is what both may be grappling with in showcasing these characters lives 🤨😊
💯
Honestly i was so enthusiastic and impatient to watch a film expecting many interesting emotions and storylines i was even directed to investigate and learn but the dose of interest and productivity of the film was in so low levely in that film that i has no words to describe or comment
Tbh, this movie really should’ve been an HBO miniseries showing Ferrari vs Lamborghini
Tbh it would not do too good. The Ferrari x Lambo rivalry is there but also not, because at that time the road cars seemed like an afterthought and Enzo was all in on Endurance and F1 racing. Lambo didnt really do anything that really poked Enzo to start this "rivalry"
Great review bro
The movie is like a sequel to Ferrai 2003 and prequel to Ford vs Ferrari 2019.
Thought it was gonna be like ford vs ferrari where he makes the car but no, just his relationship with boring dialogues
I liked Ford v Ferrari better than this one.
The first crash sequence was almost comically bad. The second crash though….
Sheesh man. Jaw hit the floor. It was brutal.
Felt like the prior goofy crashes was a massive red herring so when the brutal crash happened it was so shocking and real
From the producer of Crime Story and LA Takedown!!!!!!! you CANT go wrong with Michael Mann.........he has nothing but experience and knowledge about creating cinema!!!!
Great review!
Merry Christmas fam! Vroom vroom!
Adam Driver must have watched Raul Julia
In The Gumball Rally.
Me and my buddy saw the movie last night. And honestly? Not only did the both of us fall asleep for a few minutes, but we left before the movie was finished. And I'm not throwing hate towards the people behind it or even the actors cause I truly do love some of the people in it like Driver & Dempsey. But I was having a really hard time following the plot of the story itself, and even more so? I had a harder time understanding what some of the things the characters were saying at times. I know that the movie's set in Italy, so obviously they have to sound Italian, and I'm actually Italian myself and some of my older relatives have that thick accent. But half the time, I really felt like I needed subtitles just to understand what was being said.
So overall? This just wasn't my cup of tea. If you we're able to connect with the movie, then okay, that's good for you. But ya, this movie just wasn't for me. I'd rank it 3/10.
I liked watching this
Driver and Cruz though🤩🤩
Is it just me or is it hard to watch anything with Shailene Woodley now without thinking of her as her character in American Teenager or Divergent?
SAME
Adam driver carries this movie without his performance anybody else could have tanked it for me. Sure the movie itself might have been a little disciplining. But the way he acted I came away with it kind of positive thought of the movie
I found the entire movie slow and plodding.
One of the best film I've watched in a long time. If you are expecting Fast & Furious pop gun Hollywood nonsense this is not it. This is proper film making. Forza Ferrari
As a f1 fan I thought it was a very good flim I like the stroy of Enzo and how Ferrari came to be great flim
Obviously we have to compare Ford vs Ferrari with, well, Ferrari. As mentioned the look of Ferrari is beautiful. More credit should be given to the procurement of the cars, the set pieces, locations and casting. "Not engaged" is shorthand for checked out and started watching the couple make out next to me. Ultimately this is a move, not about a race, a car but the man and his life and as such it hits big. Ford vs Ferrari is a better movie: the sound, the lights, the spectacle. It's a thrill, while Ferrari drones on like an aftermarket exhaust: pleasant at first but then cloying in it's relentless intensity. Verdict: Ferrari is a must see, but just don't race to do it.
I have only seen Adam driver as Kylo Ren
I went to see it Yesterday and I was the only person in the theatre. I think Hollywood has killed the cinema. That said, I enjoyed the film, but it was too much of a romantic drama for me, there wasn't enough focus on the cars, the passion, the racing. When that stuff was there it was great.
Is there any movie u have a target audience of 9 or 10 but is like a 3.5 or lower still?
Honestly I’m not sure lol
Five Nights At Freddy's
Is this Chris Gaines doing movie reviews?
Who is that? Lol
Sorry, I’m out of the loop
It’s amazing we got Michael Mann David fincher ridley Scott Nolan Scorsese movies in one year it just sucks half of them phones it in lol.
I just got out of the theater after seeing this slop of a movie. And let me tell you, people were super angry at how bad this movie was, people are yawning they looked like they had been asleep. And in general I think that people were just super disappointed in Michael Mann. I think people gave it a shot, thinking it was going to get better but it never did. And I would advise people to avoid this it has the Napoleon stink of Ridley Scott all over it.
Sir would being high help? I may watch it tonight.
@@southlondon86 Nah this would be an even worse movie high. It would make it feel twice as long.
What's with the shallow lens lately? Is this Army of the Dead?
Hell yeah, Army of the Dead rocks
Even with all the hype about the stellar cast and the acclaimed director and the amazing true story I wasn't all that looking forward to it and the way I see it disappointing the vast majority of critics and audiences I wasn't wrong tho , one of the worst let downs of the year ..the same deal with Napoleon in my opinion 😔
I thought this one was weak
Napoleon and Maestro were bad. This movie was great
So did Fiat eveuntally buy Ferrari or not!
Marriage Story is obviously Driver's best
I just arrived from watching the film at the movie theater, and I must say I'm disappointed with the final product. Even though it's beautifully shot, the race sequences and period reenactment are great, but story-wise it's very poor. I'm a huge fan of Michael Mann's work, and I was expecting much more. I didn't relate with the story and characters at all. I felt I didn't get to really know who Ferrari was, his character is poorly written, and Driver does the best he can, but I wasn't convinced at all. The only part of the film I really liked was the dynamics between Ferrari and his wife Laura, with Penélope Cruz stealing all the scenes she was in, she's by far the best of this movie. The editing in some parts of the film is dreadful. I think this was a missed opportunity, and I didn't connect with this film at all. First big disappointment of the year.
How can you say better performance when he’s speaking broken English instead of Italian. Are you comparing him to Napoleon? You might feel connected to it if it were in the correct language.
Why do these types of movies consistently miss the mark? For me, it's because they don't give the audience what they want. What made Ferrari such a famous brand... his cars or his relationship with his wife and mistress? This was another disappointment for me, much like Lamborghini. Interesting movie, but doesn't do it for me.
Just saw very weird movie
You’d think Adam Driver of all people would have learned that the world no longer accepts Americans speaking English in a foreign language story. It’s insulting to its audience. Michael Mann and Ridley Scott are old enough to say to the financiers NO. ..I’ll watch Ferrari when there is an Italian dubbed English subtitle version out.
I thought this movie was a very well acted bore.
The race at the end was OK but iv'e been to better go kart races. Other than that it was nothing than a soap opera
about a man with money and infidelity problems.
Didn’t like the script, the pace and the special effects. At one point you see the dummy in the car, just bad
I was bored outta my wits!
really didnt like this one
Horrible movie. Almost as bad as barbie.
This movie SUCKED.
Straight off the bat you ruin the movie. 👏
Please explain
Didn’t we just see Adam driver speaking broken English in place of Italian. Jauquin in Napoleon. It’s embarrassing and Europe is finished with Americans doing this and I think Americans are subconsciously rejecting it. Give us the reel language.
Too much on the wife and the mistress.
Soooo Driver plays Gucci and now Ferrari oy vey Wayyy to much Adam Driver the last few years
Pump your brakes bro
House of Gucci came out like 3 or 4 years ago how much more was he in man??
Its a mediocre movie that doesn't feel like a Michael Mann movie at all. Flat line, no emotion, crazy accents all over the place, some of the worst CGI in the past few years ( spider man 1 level) and boring story
Worst movie I have seen in a long long time
This movie sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
