So I saw the new Ferrari movie from 2023 with Adam Driver and other amazing actors. When it comes to the performances they are pretty amazing, but honestly a lot of the racing has a ton of issues...so let's talk about it.

They could hear the gunshots in the church to know when to start and stop the pocket watch. That’s how they knew when the lap started and ended.

I feel like people are misunderstanding what this movie was supposed to be about, this is about Ferrari the man and the brand, not the cars and the racing (even though the cars are beautiful and very well done, although I can admit the racing is mid to subpar at best)
I personally think that the issue is that Enzo was a legend in racing which elevated the Ferrari brand, unlike most luxury brands where most of the time it is the name that elevates the product (cough cough supreme cough cough). This makes the lack of the racing heritage quite apparent. Well, that and the fact that this almost reads like a wattpad fanfic about the live of a real person that had a lot of influence in his medium.

@@carsaregood911oh God it's so bad, they keep flashing back to this fantasy of Ferrucio Lamborghini racing Enzo Ferrari in the 80s, you'd think it'd be a countach VS a testarossa or a 288GTO etc... Ferrucio is driving a Countach and Enzo is in a fricking Mondial. And the race is actually close lol. That's just one thing but it is terrible
have to disagree... minus the crashes, the storytelling was great imo. It really bugs me that you didn't understand the how people from inside the church were able to get times for the car in the beginning. The track was super close by and they literally shot a gun to mark the start/end time. Hence why so many in the church were also timing it lol
Yes this was a very good movie, this guy reviewing is clown. He should stick to cartoons and Fast and Furious.
i would say the racing in the movie was one of the most thrilling of all car movies
@@mynock250 What was good about all the confusing shots? It took forever to answer the question as to why he snuck away from his baby mama's house. Actually it never did explain it. He was only hiding his double life from his wife. So so many poorly written scenes like this. The grandma had an unexplained hatred for the wife. The drivers we were supposed to care about were given f all screen time to care about them. Most of the cars in the end were red. Could not tell who was who easily. The movie was written like some giant bonus scene to a huge backstory we were already supposed to know. All the regions, the races, the characters....
You know what’s sad? The Audi vs Lancia movie ain’t even better crazy how Clarkson made his own special on the Grand Tour yet you make a full feature film about it and it still sucks

The crashes were so bad, really was hoping for a ford v Ferrari type of movie, but it just didn’t hold a candle, the driving was bad, it had the trope where they always were shifting
1977 Star Wars modeling for special effects looked 1000x better that that car flying in the air.
Movie was pretty good, but the ending was so abrupt. That was what ruined it for me. That and not enough cars/racing. 😢
I just watched and I liked it. I would’ve preferred if the racing was the movie’s main focus instead of Enzo’s personal life, but I still enjoyed the movie.
The only things I didn’t like were the crash CGI and the fact that Enzo Ferrari only spoke in English (I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure he didn’t speak any English in real life).
Saw the Ferrari movie. Was hoping it would be more of a documentary of his life, not just a little slice in time. The story is very hard to follow unless you studied Enzo from prior to the time of the movie and understood what the movie was about. It was disappointing but they served beer in the theater so I made up for it that way.
LOOOOOL I saw it yesterday.... and yes... all I learned is that enzo was making a second fam because he absolutely wanted someone to take the lead in his foot steps, that his wife was a psychopath/unreasonable skank.
She was a brilliant business partner then a life partner... I mean... bruh... ok... you son died, turn the fkn page. Enzo turned his wife in what she became.
Ford vs Ferrari really gave nothing but sweet cinematography... Lamborghini left nothing to Ferrari...

FYI they knew the lap times because they used a starter pistol for the start and end of the lap.
And they could hear the starting pistol from the track in the church? I'll have to go back and rewatch that scene, but if that IS the case, they should have made it more noticable. Like the reverend gets interrupted by the bang and starts over or something like that. As it was, it just seemed like they were all psychic.
It was pretty noticeable. And relatively small town Italy not implausible. That being said, I’m only picking on a small (relatively insignificant) portion of the criticism but I could help myself because…internet.
I thought a movie about Ferrari would have more racing in it.

I haven't seen it. I honestly haven't seen most new movies because they usually suck. They either are trying to push a political message very overtly or just have really bad writing or really bad cgi and editing. Most new movies have at least 1 of those 3 issues, if not all 3, making them unbearable to sit through. I have always loved movies and the cinema, but in the past 5ish years, I've honestly only been 5 times at most.
if you are into older movies more into drama thrillers, this movie is great. yeah cgi isn't the best but every other aspect is good. Especially the racing its better then Ford v Ferrari.
I was wondering if the visual effects looked as bad as in the trailers. Bummer.

When I saw that church/stop watch scene I was SOOOO confused. Wait, what are they timing? Why does the camera keep jumping back and forth from the church to the track? Do they SOMEHOW know whats going on there? I seriously thought I missed something. Glad I'm not the only one.
Yeah it was never explained if the track time was good or bad or the same. All that build up and the CORNY lines from the priest. Lots of shots were super confusing.
They should've left the accident to peoples imagination. The extra was very unnecessary 🤦♂️. Also, they added too many filling scenes that we all know it didn't happen.

Ford vs Ferrari was too cliche for my taste and it was trying to be likeable for non-car people. For me, I rather enjoyed the Ferrari. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I agree on the crashes part. And the dead body was laughably fake. As a car guy, it's definitely better than Ford vs Ferrari. Maybe I should watch the F vs F again but I just couldn't rewatch it.
Gran turismo was great , way better than i expected . Now waiting for audi vs lancia ...

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I’ll admit it’s not for everyone, but if you go in expecting a ford vs ferrari or a gran turismo, you’re gonna walk out disappointed.

also if you look at the car crash scene they used 2 separate shots of the car spinning in the air, making it seem extremely unrealistic, just look at the timing here @7:02 rotation and look at @7:05, like how did they think that this was a good edit

i enjoyed the movie. i knew when i went in, it wasnt going to be a car movie & it was a character story of enzo at a point in time. i wished that point in time was the point where he lost dino. but its fine. the movie was good. michael mann was the director and he's good. he did heat. greatest movie of all time

before watching this (and haven’t seen the movie) what can be so bad about it, that it was probably about the man more than the cars? or the rise through motorsport or whatever like the ford movie. lets listen and see what the big deal is about before calling this a hate watch lol
personally i don’t like adam drivers acting. he was fine in star wars i guess. but anything else i can’t take seriously. and yes the special effects look like shit from these examples. and sure hollywood has to do their thing to it to dramatize or exaggerate things for a movie for average people to expect some inaccuracies. besides all that. i can’t say how well things are portrayed from not having seen it yet
@@djfuzzo1 I hope you didn't see it. It never does explain the rise of the brand, just some awkward space in the middle of it. The film acted like you were supposed to know all the history beforehand, all the cities mentioned, ww2 history in Italian perspective. It even ends with text explaining a couple future events and the wife helping him legally fight off bad reporting that was actually not smearing him at all. He really did get a lot of drivers and bystanders killed so idk.
@@pineappleparty1624 i mean, he did start as a driver for alfa, then started ferrari to have his own racing. then started making and selling cars to fund it. but i can see how that can get glossed over for the wide public not to know much of that story. seems like it’s more about his personal life and relationship struggles and that sort of thing. which sounds eh, rather than an actual origin story highlighting the building of the brand
@@djfuzzo1 It was terrible, trust me lol. They went for two movie genres at once flipping back and forth. The racing aspect was supposed to be his passion, was never conveyed that way. Was just boring and the drivers had sometimes zero back story to care about them. I think the baby mama drama should have been in the backdrop as an aspect of his character development.

Brake to shift- I am fairly certain this happens a few times in Gran Turismo, at the very least when they cut to feet to show heel toeing its usually during acceleration.
I enjoyed the movie, was block buster no but it was tastefully done on the Man Behind the brand maybe its because I'm older and enjoy those types of movies. youngsters are all about the 30billion dollar budget of green screens to wow their short attention spans.? It was a great Low budget "biography" IMO. 30 yrs into cars and racing of all kinds I can appreciate the style of the movie.

The actor playing Enzo was the biggest car crash of all…though maybe he was better received in the North American market..
The worst part of this movie was watching the love scene and knowing what Enzo and his wife Laura really looked like. 🤢

This and the Lamborghini movie are about equal. They are more about the men than the cars. Still, not great movies. They mention things in their lives, but just kind of skim over the background of it. This movie in particular felt like "Oh you know about Ferrari, well lets meet the man Enzo Ferrari. But we're not going to go into detail, because obviously you're watching this because you know who Enzo Ferrari is"
