Who else had a difficult name for role call?
You guys pronounce my name "Rubala Suresh "
Yeah I’ll just leave a comment here, figure it out
I'm asian. My last name is Fan, but teachers think they smart and pronounce it like "Fon"....
My name is Venkatesh Ravi.....sooo...the teachers wouldnt even try...i went by Ravi and got named Robbie.....my parents and siblings called me Venky...but that sounded like Wanky...so i never let my friends hear that...LOL
My legal name is Chinese. From elementary school through college graduation and beyond, my name bewilders people. Don't even ask how it's pronounced. I go by a different name.
"Brown parents slap you across the face and bruise your soul" 😂😂😂 true af
Lmaoooo on god
Hahaha.. qasmayyy.. but i have been lucky enough "most if the time" they used tantrums and words to do that in my case.. 😋😋😋😄😄😂

"Brown love is very conditional." So true it hurts.
Yellow love =conditional lol so so true!!! My parents threatened to kick me out of the house if I brought home a C
@@imnotarunner 👌👌🏾
I swearrrr.... 😂😂
True.
@@imnotarunner I threaten my son not to go to his graduation if he doesn't get into a good college. I also threatened to disown him.
This special was the birth of Patriot Act.
nothing can be truer than this!
I especially love that bit about her high school ex's new Indian boyfriend.
At least his dad had the decency to check if the coast was clear. My mom didn't care, she would clap me no matter who was watching 😂
My Caribbean mom too.. lol
I felt that
Man facts
Hehehe or get a serious pinch and the look wait later and you're going to learn
My mom too
I feel like the secret thing is particularly true for Asian family. After spending more than 25 years together I just found out that my cousin was adopted and my granddad was not my biological granddad. And they'd tell you about it so casually and out of nowhere, I was ordering chicken at KFC when my mom told me about it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 sorry
I'm African I have the same shit in my family. No one tells you anything, so no ones arguments make any fucking sense lol
I got told casually over a phone call recently that my dad had married someone else (who'd passed away before he remarried my mother) -_-
I’m Latina, it’s the same for us. Both my parents are one of seven kids and randomly I found out my dad had an older half sister that he met when their dad died back in 1967. He didn’t tell me about her until the mid 2000’s and she died six months later. Another time my brother and I were eating lunch one weekend and my parents decided to join us and explain that we’re related to the mafia and one of the dictators during WWII. My brother and I finished eating, went to our room where we then looked at each other like “dude, what the fuck was that?!” What are supposed to do with this information.
i recently found out that my parents got engaged secretly because my dad's family didnt approve of my mom. Imagine if i pulled that shit today-
This is so relatable! 😂😂😂 Also, shout out to that random dude in the crowd who spontaneously said he got a ' blank stare ' during roll call 😂
Too spontaneous...something fishy.
Likes were 666. So I had to like it, that was all. Carry on
I got the "wait 'til we get home". Still can't watch suspense to this day.
S. Essilfie yooo ptsd from childhood
Hahaha.. right in the feels bruh...😁🤣
The tension is real
I felt that !
I still get scared af whenever my mom says I have to talk to you about something and then waits for the dinner to talk about it.
This special was not any normal comedy special, it was theatre.
Wanya Ejaz if you like that you should check out Mike Birbiglia’s “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” it’s basically a one man show.
dude we have the same name
just spelled differently
I fucking know right! It's like a one-man film.
Bro you gotta watch make happy on Netflix
I remember when i found out that white kids don't get slapped by their parents. Shook till this day
Unless you had white immigrant parents and then you still got hit.

Or heard that they get "grounded". I was perplexed for the longest time bc I thought that meant they were buried under ground or something. I was one of the only non-white kids at my school and my english was bad, so I was afraid to ask and get teased some more.
I live in Europe. My parents aren't immagrants. They slapped me. All the kids I knew when I was little got slapped. My parents told me the others got slapped more often than me.
Yes they love secrets. Never knew until 21 years later that almost all my uncles cheat/cheated and my biological dad was a side dude my mom had while dating my stepdad in the '90s.... I was told all this before Frozen the musical at disneyworld...
How did you like the show?

I was 24 when my mom beat me with her sandal just because she was tense during my marriage planing Love you mom
You're too soft. I stopped getting beatings when I was 10 but the amount of beating I got was 20 years worth.

Keep on making us laugh Hasan
the whole brown parents love secrets thing hits hard man. I'm still trying to find out my family history to this day. I cant ask tho, my soul is too bruised up from the last time.
Hell, I’m hella white and my family lies to me - to this day, at the age of 33 - about my origin story.
I figured it out, though, anytime I brought up any points - I’m a “psycho.”
Well, I mean.. I AM working on an anti-social personality disorder diagnosis - specifically, the informal “psychopath.”
So, I mean.. My mother, technically, wouldn’t be wrong, by calling me such..
Though, I fail to realize how my being a “psycho” and falling on the anti-social personality spectrum would have anything to do with why I would be wrong, in such an instance..
How that would make a valid argument, to say such?
I mean, I am, technically, an autistic psychopath - so, I have an innate mora code; I just have the ability to turn on and off my emotions, and choose not to feel what I don’t find to be effective for me to emotionally feel.
Which, if anything.. Would make my perception, in theory, easier to believe - being it’s based upon logical observation and noticing certain patterns, and inconsistencies; in regards to the stories I’ve heard, throughout my life, regarding my origin. As well as how I have put the pieces together and how it all came about, in the first place..
I should also mention.. My mother - as well as my grandmother and aunt (whom I believe is my actual birth mother) - all have narcissistic tendencies; my mother, heavily abusing me (out of resentment, from what I believe) in a covert-malignant narcissistic manner, most of my life..
It’s interesting reading all of these comments, regarding immigrant/brown parents - now being fully aware of my own experience - and seeing similar correlations, in behavior; yet, appear so differently, to other cultures..
If that makes any sense.
"Always stressed and always tired"
Being a brown kid I must say it really hurts, physically, mentally, emotionally and economically too🔥🔥
I knowmetoo
I stopped listening to my parents and try to impress them as far back as I can remember. I am in my best space psychologically as an adult!
Still waiting for him to pick up the water bottle that he dropped.
Ameen Fatima 😂😂😂🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🤦🏽♀️
I’m in love with this man.
I always feel like im watching a ted talk or a motivational speech whenever i watch Hasan
His entire standup, Homecoming King, is seriously so good! It's like a movie. Rollercoaster feels and well-structured storytelling.
lmao brown love is conditional
oml rachel you're gorgeous
Honestly that secret thing is so true. Like 20 years later my mom tells us that her name isn't her real name, we were gonna have a whole other sibling, and so much more and they just don't tell you. I can't honestly tell you what either of my parents like.
“Guantanamo of the mind” 🤣🤣🤣
His parents surely slapped him too for dropping that water bottle. 😂
My mom's favourite like is
"Everyone needs to be slapped once in a while to keep them in check."
My dad always says - bachhe maar khaye Bina bade nahi hote - "kids CAN'T grow up without being beaten up" 😂😂😂
3:37. Yep. Black parents too. 😆😆👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😆😆

My mom cornered me into a moving rickshaw.. I was 16. Its still the funniest story ever. Even the autowala had to intervene. 😂😂
I'm dyinggggg tell me more 😂😂
@@Lwoods1717 😂 I was applying for college and I had no clue what attesting documents meant and it was the last day for submission, I dragged her through the entire city to get my papers in order. At one moment she lost it and whupped my incompetent ass in a moving rickshaw. She was so furious, so tired and so mad at me for doing things half assed. 😂😂 Even the autowala took pity and urged my mom to stop hitting me. I ofcourse was trying to hold my laugh and that just made her more mad. My aunt still tells this story while rolling on the floor. 😂😂

Couldn't be better!! NOW I'm going to check you out on Netflix. I just found you. Cool.
those were allll accurate. Hasan you nailed the brown experience!
Hasan just keeps getting better
isn't it very interesting that most immigrant kids who were slapped as children are more affectionate to their parents as adults than white kids who were never slapped, and had everything growing up?
I swear to god its true
not only immigrants but almost all north africans (such as myself) and middle easterns seem to be this way. i guess it is a culture thing but most of us growing up have being indoctrinated into respecting our parents and old people.
So true
I’m more respectful and obliged but it doesn’t equate to love or result in affection.
I think that just equals to more obligation than actual love
Hasan your jokes are so real and relatable
Hell ya brown parents are such it's so true
The conversation gets to another level when you don't agree with them
Keep it up Hasan!
Whenever the teacher stops in the middle of a roll i say my name because ik its too damn hard for them to pronounce
I just love how smooth he is like dude..
Why do I relate to this so much 😂
I related 100% when he was talking about how the teacher mispronounced his name like when a teacher pronounced it right on the first try I was shocked and it was a sub who did that.
This guy is truly amazing
I’m Mexican and can confirm. If I was going to a birthday party I knew I was going to get slapped by some little cousin with silver teeth. Prolly named Edgar or Kevin.
HANDS DOWN, HE’S the best!!!
3.39. Can relate to that so much
one time when our white friend came over, she spilled chocolate milk on our carpet and my mom slapped MY SISTER!! afterwards she was like, why did you hit me?? my mom was like, someone spilled and i couldn't hit her, so i hit you instead 😂
Sound quality is amazing , the audience's voice and hassan has only a lapel ...woa
Favorite comedy special of all time.
LMAO i know a couple brown kids that be getting slapped at their own bday parties
You know brown kids who GET birthday parties?
@@Anonymous-mt8ss yea my relatives
Omg. As a guy that grew up in the south like decades ago. I relate. My mom would delight in making me stand at a birthday party while she, with the nodding support of all the mothers there, would go and carefully select a limb, which to me looked like a log, from any random tree, drop my shorts and whip me senseless. Then, I’d get home to dad. Bru. I get you.
Edward Woodward that’s messed up dude
brooo that is intense, what hasan is describing is not as abusive T.T
Glad I know who this guy is now! Hilarious dude!
Great comedian !!! 😂😂😂
Hilarious!! Hasan is brilliant!!
me and my sister were literally dying, he's so funny
I love hassan. Especially the white house dinner.
My soul is forever bruised😂😂
This special was litAF.
My favorite comedy special of the decade. HILARIOUS
@betterdays Lo..! U clearly hate Hassan.
@@mithunkumar25557 What do you expect from a white guy who watches wood shop videos 😂😂 YEE HAWWW
@@AkhirahOverDunya85 the sad part is that the woodshop videos are actually funnier than this guy.. I was expecting a mission impossible ending and this guy was going to peel off his latex mask to show his true identity.. ...Dane Cook. There's more to comedy to enthusiastic embellishment.
I was slapped twice in my life by my parents that’s it only two slaps. I’m an adult now out of the house making my own living but I’m still scared shitless they’ll slap the hell out of me for messing up.
Me too..im a 44 year old and still afraid sometimes. Lol.
@@spicybrown75 😝😂😂😂😂
Seriously I was slapped countless times I can't even count maybe I was a bad kid
My father whacked me only once. I still live in fear. I am 30! Mom had the daily quota. In all fairness, I was a monster!
Best of luck tho @amal
That slapping part ,Fucking hit me so hard.
Man this guy was golden!! Felt great having representation for once. Why did Netflix cancel him??? Bring Hasan back to the mainstream!!
When he said that you know what next my dad did, I was like obviously slapped you across your face. But then he said his dad looked if the coast was clear first before slapping, I was surprised for a moment but then I realised they aren't in India, slapping would have been the first step here. Hell, I'd slap my kids for something like that if I ever have any. 😂
My name is Paul & I'm from India. Untill 11 years of age I always used to spell my name while introducing myself. Never knew people say their name & walk off
You are amazinggggggggg
so relatable tbh
Ah my roll call
This is sooooo accurate
True that
first chapelle then schulz then hasan..a great week for comedy
awesome and impressive

You know I feel very privileged because I never really had to experience racism even as an immigrant because the country we immigrated to was also majority brown people and there were so many Indian kids there were just Indian syllabus schools everywhere
You could get a full on beat down on your birthday they don’t care 😂😂

Guantanamo of the mind! 🤣🤣🤣
Ik it's stand up but his voice just gives me the feels of Tedtalk lol
Hasan Minaj and fluffy will be the dynamic duo lol
a god of comedy !
Growing up, I always thought that brown love was very conditional, but I'm not sure now. My parents did all the same study lectures and and asked only about grades, but now, looking back I realized that they are cool as long as I'm in my own skin and doing my best. At least for me, I get the brown parent treatment if I start acting spoiled and lazy, even a little. But if I'm bang on with effort and dedication, they support me even if the grades aren't initially good.
Aside from the joke I want to know which parent's love are not unconditional for their children ,I mean every person love conditinally☺️
God he is hilarious
Relatable
I feel like I've seen this before
im so used to hasan speaking in 3x speed, now i watch every yt vid on 3x speed. lmao
Hilarious ....XD
Hassan never ceases to amaze, it's cool atleast we can laugh about it because of him, days and years passes bruised by the pain caused by our parents (in India). Always relatable content man 💯💯
His body movements remind me of Wes from How to Get Away from Murder
"'the slap" huh? so that's where thappad was inspired from :P
He makes being brown cool. I love it.
