    pretty sure SLS and SLES aren't toxic, they can be drying to the skin and some may have an allergy to them. The same goes for PEGs and parabens, without parabens cosmetics would go moldy soon and pegs are almost always used in suppositories in my country.

    Most of the ingredients are not really toxic except for Mercury. Its ridiculous how people say these other ingrideints are toxic just for the purpose to bring in an agenda of supposedly "clean" skincare when so many of the supposedly "clean" skincare is actually bad for skin because essential oils cause allergic reactions in mamy people especially sensitive skin. For me the most important thing is to avoid fragrance on my face and essential oils have fragrance. Niacinimde is even bad for me. Hyloronic acid can actually dry my skin even if i use it in the right order and my face actually is fine with parabens so use skincare that fits your needs.

    I am skeptical of ordering beauty products from China, because the governments lack of oversite has resulted in poisonous baby food and pet food, among other tainted products. I remember hearing that a high level government official was actually executed over this. I feel the same about beauty products featured on Ebay that have brand names I've never heard of, because many of these are Chinese in origin. I know that many of these products are cheap, but is it really worth the risk just to save a few bucks?

    I don’t use does in my face wash since i hate foaming washes. Whenever I use them they’re always go into my eyes and nose when I breathe. Also they are SOO drying on my dry skin. However I use a schampoo that containes sles alone with other surfactants so it’s much more gentle than just sles.

    Good Evening Dr,
    Being chemistry teacher, I know mercury is harmful for humans. And, I also know that Hg is used in cosmetics to give instant fairness to skin but I don't know which cosmetic products contain Hg. I go by the ingredient list provided by the company and then select the product. Still, If any cosmetic products we are using contains Hg ( other then cream, which you have mentioned in your video) then how do we come to know?

    How to know that a certain skin care is safe to use.. ?

    • @atmarahsa
      @atmarahsa Před 2 lety +2

      Hello! If you want to know that a certain skincare is safe to use it's always there is trial and error. It's normal. In my case, I always check the ingredients before I buy it. Because whenever the product label are Alcohol-free, Paraben-Free, Cruelty-Free, Fragrance-free, that's often still any toxic ingredients on it. So instead of see the label, I always copy paste the ingredients of the product and check it by myself on any skincare-analyzer site

      SLS in the shampoo makes your hair will dry whenever you use it. If you still want to use it, then it's fine. But, for avoid the crispy-hair because of the SLS ingredient, you can always use a hair conditioner after use your shampoo that using the SLS

    Another clickbait title for one of your videos: outrageous sensationalist. Toxic is not the same as harmful or sensitizing.
    1. The only toxic ingredient that you mentioned is mercury, but is not very likely to find it among regular skincare brands: both expensive or drugstore level.
    2. Parabens: there are several and not all of them harmful. However there is an study connecting some parabens and breast cancer (that’s why they’re mainly avoided in deodorants) and yes, they have a light strogenic effect, but not more than many common foods. For serious scientifics, the most of them are considered safe even in skincare but they are just controversial because of misinformation (I suggest you to read the paper “Can rumors cause cancer?”.
    3. Artificial fragrance is less harmful than essential oils, being them prone to sensitize the skin. Fragrance should be avoided for certain people (like me, with atopic skin), but is harmless for most of the people. You yourself said the same I’m saying despite being the title of this video 7 TOXIC ingredients.
    4. Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is harsh for the skin but not toxic for it. However contributes to contamination in the environment. And about the cancer… I recommend again reading “Can rumors cause cancer?”.
    5. Phthalates: they’re hormonal disruptors for individuals not completely developed but is not proven to cause infertility. So, again, potentially harmful but not TOXIC.
    7. PEG is safe on healthy skin. Again, not a TOXIC as you alarming title suggests.

    Disappointed in this video. Most of these ingredients are not "toxic" at all. Sure, people can have sensitivities to ingredients, this doesn't make them "toxic" to everyone.
