  • After a wait that seemed like an eternity (over 5 months), the door to the FSD Beta program swung open, and... I'M IN!
    I'm starting a series of episodes chronicling the development, behaviours, peculiarities, the feats and accomplishments of FULL SELF DRIVING as it grows and develops over the upcoming months. Join me as I put it to the test, so you can decide for yourself whether this is the biggest advancement in motoring EVER - or just a wonderful feature that may not be what you need.

    Ok, great drive for me in FSD. THANK YOU!

    You lucky man Peter, we won't see the beta for ages in the UK. Regulations don't yet allow it, neither do the driving habits of Brits. The quality of driving over here has really deteriorated, so much so that a poor old Tesla will often be too scared to take people on! Keep on keeping us up to date! Thank you.

      I hope so too! I have numerous friends who live in Australia and other friends who live in Great Britain - so I hope it comes to BOTH countries very soon

    Thanks for an informative video. I’ve been using FSD beta for 5 months now. Your comments and impressions reflect my own. I appreciate both your honesty regarding areas where it could use refinement while expressing just how mind blowing its capabilities have become. Spot on!

    That's a great idea about having additional customisation options for the user.

    Excellent feedback on Canadian FSD Beta. Her in another colony Australia can only watch with envy. Please Elon, we aren’t that different to Canadians.

    Great video, thank you. I just took a trip from Bellingham to Winthrop, about a 140 miles, on the North Cascades Highway and my Model Y drove about 90% of the time both there and back.
    I think the twitching will get better the more you use it. It's not gone but better than it was at first. What I don't like is that it turns in an arc which takes it much closer to on coming cars with a left turn and the curb with a right turn. I would go farther into the intersection before making the turn.

    For the wheel pressure requirement, you can also turn either input wheel up or down. You can also flick the right stalk down.

    Great demo. I will wait for further refinement before I try the FSD Beta since I am just getting used to regular autopilot. Just the thought of a car driving itself is mind blowing. Getting to help in the development must truly be exciting. Thank you!

    Peter great video you give a honest opinion of how the car performed no frills just as it was.
    Im in the UK and don’t have full self driving on my Model 3 but I do have enhanced self driving, Full self driving in the UK is £7500 enhanced £3250 if they realise the version you have here I would gladly pay the extra cash.
    Look forward to more coverage

    Great video been so long no see Need to know when you are FSD the normal Autopilot goes for ever ?

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 2 lety

      Of course, I believe that Autopilot and Full Self Driving will always be two separate offerings: Autopilot will be restricted to highway / freeway driving and will be free (included) in the price of the car while Full Self Driving will always be a somewhat expensive option once it has proved its' worth

    There wont be any robo taxis until its 100% reliable, in 100% of journeys. Freeway runs are the easiest of environments. Try this in London and its microprocessors will have a melt down.

    When you went through the border did the display change to MPH? or did it stay in KMH? I also got my FSD Beta last Friday, I'm in Toronto. I'm experiencing same as you are with twitchy steering wheel and not so smooth acceleration and braking (but most of the time is doing great).

    Please keep refering to FSD Beta

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 2 lety

      You're right. In the interests of absolute clarity I should remember to do that. However, since the title is all about FSD Beta, and I introduce it like that at the start of the episode, so hopefully it's an assumption people will make. But good point to make!

    Ive has a 100% score for about a week now with about 400km of 100% driving. Still no update, hopefully I can also experience it. I just got the car 1.5 weeks ago tho. Maybe it has to do something with that? Anyone know?

  • @ronaldgarrison8478
    @ronaldgarrison8478 Před 2 lety +2

    18:00 I don't think you want to see a bunch of stuff on your screen that is not relevant to driving.

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před 2 lety

      That won’t be in the final version of FSD that is released to the public but it is helpful for Beta testers who have a real interest in being aware of exactly what the car’s detection system is ‘noticing’ as it calculates what to do at every point of the trip

    • @ronaldgarrison8478

      @@model3man Oh, must admit I hadn't thought of it from that perspective.

  • @Resist4
    @Resist4 Před 2 lety

    I finally got the update and am not impressed. Still has a lot of phantom braking events, way more than when my radar was working. Went past a street where it was supposed to make a turn. And it still wants to get out of a lane in heavy traffic, that it needs to stay in to get on the highway. FSD beta is so nerve racking and makes city driving stressful. I'm still not convinced that vision only is the way to go. Other companies already have fully driverless vehicles and they do it much better than Tesla.
    But you are incorrect that the beta is showing you everything, because it sees way more than it displays. And the cabin camera can't see your eyes if you're wearing sunglasses.
    One more thing to note, you were not on the FSD beta on the highway, that's regular Autopilot. The beta only works on city streets.
