  • Welcome to the Sacred Shade Podcast! This past week has been a whirlwind of emotions for Gateway Church members and the Body of Christ. This episode is just the beginning of the discussion. In this episode, we share our current feelings as we've been processing anger, sadness, confusion, and hopefulness. We pray you make Jesus your foundation. Feel free to let us know what you agree and disagree with in the comments!
    DISCLAIMER: 21:35 a mistake was made regarding the Elder page on the Gateway website. There was confusion regarding apostolic elders who had previously stepped away from their roles prior to this news and the current elders. We don't want any misinformation, so thanks for hanging with us!

    As a professional in the criminal justice field, the news is devastating. Getting that email from the elders was too late. The church is not talking about the elephant in the room. I noticed after a few years of attending church there, the sermons became repeative every year. He did not preach about real shit, end times, sin etc. The ones who turned an eye blind should be expelled from the church too. Now the sermons they are preaching, relate to his sin. Had it happened in TX in the present time, all who knew would have been criminally charged as it's a TX state law to report all abuse regarding minors. And yes I'm a sinner myself.

    📖💜🎵I’ve been a pastor’s wife 33 yrs, married almost 46 yrs. Our church runs less than 100 folks, my hubs teaches & preaches from the Bible & does not cherry-pick a verse here & there to preach about bc of how HE feels. Expository preaching brings God’s Word into much clearer view! Learning the who, what when where etc that each book was written. The pastor is then to read and explain the scripture, bringing to life the doctrines, principles, etc that God is showing us. Yes! Using other scriptures to show examples is great!
    Unfortunately, men like RM add what they THINK or WANT the verse to say. And bc they have a certain flare or charisma about them, folks flock there. Then their eyes are blinded & ears deafened unless it’s his voice. Not nearly enough Christians study the Bible on their own!

    It’s ok to take it to the criminal courts and it was more than one man and Yes they did know it was covered up by several people close to Morris .As long as the church is naive it will continue to happen.

      Exactly. Like we said, because the Lord cares about the most vulnerable, we believe that God would rather that little girl have been protected and cared for than all the supposed "good" that came from a cover-up. God doesn't need a man, a church name, or a cover-up to accomplish his work. We're called to live righteously. Blessings!

    I hope the bravery of this woman teaches all in this branch of Christianity to properly read God's word. Don't just listen to what they peddle. Morris's tithing teaching is clearly false. His falling is a blessing from God. Hopefully it opens your eyes. The whole prosperity/pentecostal movement and any church that teaches false old testament tithing is lying to you for greed.

    That's exactly what I've been saying the flock has been neglected at a time when they very much needed leadership to pastor them or at least SAY SOMETHING! I just got an email from the elders 7 days later - maybe they heard you! Good job I think it's helpful for the flock to hear someone from Gateway say something, the silence is deafening!

      Background check? Morris broke the law, but he was never caught. He didn't have a sentence or anything on his background. If he he had he wouldn't be in ministry. He'd be labeled as a sex offender. He didn't get caught, so he doesn't have that label. Background checks are helpful, but a lot of times people never get got caught. So you wouldn't see any charges on their record.

    If the Elders are wise, they will not put a Morris family member as the spiritual leader at Gateway.

    The three questions I have for folks in this are: 1) Can you envision the people of the Church being healed and move forward to become the body He asked? 2) Can you see the victim being healed and restored to a place of wholeness? Not because she got 'justice' but because the grace and presence of God transforms and heals. 3) Can you envision the offender being restored in the body, as a believer, that one day (through Christ) will live in heaven forever and ever with the rest of us?
    If the answer is 'no,' I ask you to to pursue to the heart of God on the matter and let His heart be obtained within you. Search the scripture- it's the providence of God who is able to use the injustices of humanity to birth His glorious plan.

    • @TheSacredShade
      @TheSacredShade  Před měsícem +2

      Hi there! Thanks for your comment! The answer is YES to all 3-- we believe true justice is about complete wholeness-- spiritual, physical, emotional. We're looking forward to discussing that very thing in the next episode. Stay tuned!

    When you have prosperity gospel, celebrity pastors, millions in tithe money, and “the Holy Spirit told me this” mentality from the top, you have a beautiful habitat for spiritually abusive narcissism. Wolves hunt in packs. As a former long time member with family members and friends that were on staff, my advice is RUN.

      @@amyoconnell6287As one who grew up in prosperity gospel teachings, I can say Morris’ teachings on tithing are unbiblical and filled with prosperity gospel scripture twisting… if you look up FTF Chris Roseborogh on CZcams, he has a breakdown of the actual teachings of Morris on his famous tithing teachings. It’s a real eye opener. Go is Faithful and it is His Grace to expose!

    I've never been a member of Gateway. I did read that Robert went through a time where he stepped down two years, and confessed that he had committed a sin. Said he was sorry. The girl's father said they forgave him this was 35 years ago. He got himself right with God and had accountability, so he wouldn't do this again. He shouldn't have to suffer consequences from such a long time ago especially when he went through a restoration process. My other thought is we need to put our trust in God. Not man. God is not a man and can not lie. He will be there whenever we need him. So if you are looking for a man to put your trust in Don't. Trust God first. I feel like Gateway is in good hands and will give news at some point. If members are faithful they'll stick around. After all God is who we trust. Yes, we have to be careful about who is in ministry and background checks help. Unfortunately people haven't been caught of their sin and we can still have issues with sin even with background checks being done. We have to put our trust in God that He'll protect our kids and bring the right people into children's ministry.

    You need to delve into the word of God. Much of what Robert Morris taught was not scriptural. Please study under good men of God that exergit the Word and teach out of context. Praying you will grow in a true understanding of the Word of God. ❤

    This is devastating for anyone in a church. Sadly if your church has multiple scandals on sexual misconduct in the courts or otherwise (now we know there are a few at Gateway!) there is a systemic problem going on in leadership and in service. God bless and my heart goes out to all at Gateway - please find a biblical church and not one teaching unbiblical scripture twisting theology on tithing like Morris pushed. If you go to FTF Chris Roseborogh he has done a great job of looking at the teachings and comparing it to Scripture.
    Lord bless you!

    You who are without sin cast the first stone.
    Robert Moore repented and confessed his sin and God has forgiven him but not people!!!!
    Check your own life first before throwing stones at others!!!!

    • @1955dmb
      @1955dmb Před 26 dny +4

      But he was no longer qualified to be a pastor according to scripture. He is now just one of the sheep and yes, he can mercifully be restored to God but not to leadership. We should be glad he can be forgiven if indeed he has repented. But why in the world do you think he should lead? He is teaching a false prosperity doctrine but even if he taught correctly, he disqualified himself. He can serve the Lord in many other ways - but he.......he made his choice. I think you are blending two totally different issues. Jesus told us to mark the false teachers and avoid them. Pastors are held to a much higher standard because of their influence in the Body of Christ. We are so easily led astray by false teachers. Avoid them. Don't promote them.
