    Good morning, dear brothers. I just wanted to chime in and say how blessed I am by your fresh Biblical look at this ongoing debate among believers in Christ. As a former Charismatic in the Latter Rain/MOG/Restoration/Shepherding movement, this discussion is near and dear to me. Although I wholeheartedly reject Calvinism, I truly and sincerely appreciate brother Hinn's humble, honest, and loving approach to this hotly debated topic.

    So how do you explain those who receive the gift of speaking in tongues? Are their experiences not real? There are millions of Christians with genuine godly experiences of encountering the in filling of the Holy Spirit

    My pastor, Craig Johnson of Gospel Hope church in Knox, TN, also doesn’t like the word cessationism. He coined his own term, like you, Costi. He calls it “completionism” 😂

    The undeveloped/remote country posit seems to have some gaps from my perspective. In the U.S. we have a huge influx of individuals that are ESL at best. Wouldn’t an outbreak of Tongues, speaking of their native languages, be a perfect catalyst for a genuine revival in the US.??
    Additionally, I have seen YT videos from LDS missionaries talking about Tongues encounters. Early LDS members also claimed Tongues experiences.
    Won’t limit what God can do, but there is a strong correlation between money and signs/wonders worldwide.

    Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 1 Cor 14. Biblically, it's clearly not just used for speaking to people in other languages.

  • @JewandGreek
    @JewandGreek Před 19 dny +15

    It's a common cessationist misconception that tongues were used to preach the gospel in foreign lands. There was absolutely ZERO need for tongues to communicate the gospel in the Roman Empire because everybody had a common language - Koine Greek. And not everybody heard their native dialect, because some apparently heard gibberish because they mocked them and said that they were drunk. The tongues on the Day of Pentecost were a sign to get the attention of the Jews gathered in Jerusalem for the festival. When Peter preached he would have spoken in a language they all understood, either Koine Greek or Aramaic. There's nothing in Acts 2 that suggests that Peter was preaching via the gift of tongues.

      “Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language. They were amazed and astonished, saying, “Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs-we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God.” And they all continued in amazement and great perplexity, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” But others were mocking and saying, “They are full of sweet wine.” But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words. For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day; but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams; Even on My bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit And they shall prophesy. And I will grant wonders in the sky above And signs on the earth below, Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood, Before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come. And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

      “Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign not for unbelievers but for believers.”

      Well at least one part of your comment is right, it was the sign for Jews about coming judgement, that happend.
      You dont need tongues anymore...for what?
      There is no new doctrinal revelation. And if you want to say that the gift is also for individual benefits, why would you speak to God if you dont know what you are saying, 0 sense, its pointless
