I think that is what Terminator Salvation was attempting to show, except it was nowhere near as bleak as the couple minute masterpiece scene in Terminator. I want that scene turned into a movie, but we will never get it in today's Hollywood, partly because the first movie was sort of a independent movie anyways.
Terminator Salvation is as close to that as we will ever get...
They were supposed to show that with Salvation and its sequels but they instead decided to reboot the whole series again and give us that Genisys dogshit and now this movie. The Salvation timeline was all supposed to be set in the future. MCG said (I believe) that there was supposed to be three movies about it with Bale in all of them. But I guess the studio just had to find a way to shove Arnie back into a Terminator movie and Genisys was the result.

I just watched the movie: he NEVER visibly breathes while he runs, and his running actually looks like he's clocking 40mph. He also never blinks unless he's "infiltrating" like when he spoke to John's foster parents

Also the T-1000 was objectively more advanced and capable then any other terminator. You just can't top it and it clearly shows. Having a medal skeleton surrounded by morphing liquid metal is completely pointless and offers ZERO benefits only limitations.

I haven't for a long time. I torrent it when it comes out, and watch about 20 minutes. If I can make it past the first 10 minutes, I might pay to see it If I can watch at least 30-45 minutes, I go see it at the theater. Most movies don't make the cut. Thus far, only a few like Joker were worth it. I torrented it, but it was such a good movie that I decided to pay to go see it at the theater. This is how I only spend money on movies that are worth watching now, and how I make sure I never spend a dime on the movies that are trash like Dark Fate. Saved at least $150 this year alone :)

I can't really call it pirating since if the movie is good or watchable then it's still worth paying for and not pirated then just streamed in advance of payment. But if it isn't, then you're able to manage the refund for your time on having to watch it if it's not acceptable.
If more people did this, it would ensure that they would want to release quality films again and not just push out sequels for fast money on the public. It's understandable that actors and film producers want to be paid, but when was the last time a restaurant got payment for serving rotten food to patrons or stores wanted payment for selling things they knew were broken to customers? Same principle. Most of these movies aren't edible. :)

i just watch marvel studios now. they've mastered how to make movies.id say the late 80s and all through 90s was the best time for movies the rest of the studios suck now suck,i watch tv instead. 1970s was awful. Then you had the so called golden age of american cinema from end of silent era in 1920s, to early 60s. with the bond films, i would extend that to the end of 60s. so we've had about 16 years of shit.

Sarah is losing her humanity, while the T-800 is gaining humanity through John. John is helping keep their humanity, like a leader. And with it, it helps reconnect the bond between him and his mother.
Oh my god screw those sequels for never having John and Sarah in the same movie *** . I like T3 decently enough and Salvation is alright, and the other 2 I can enjoy watching, but the fact that none of them ever had those two in the same movie just shows how the filmmakers for those movies didn't understand the important roles and relationships. It especially shows in Salvation where John and Kate have basically nothing with each other.
*** I know that Genisys has John and Sarah, but Sarah is played by Emilia Clarke in that (can't picture her as a mom since she looks like a college student, and her character acts like one), and John is turned into a stupid villain. And outside of the fakeout scene in the hospital, these 2 never truly connected.
I liked terminator 1,2 and 3 yes I did like T3 as well as the first 2 I liked the TX the first T1000 and of course the terminator itself after those 3 movies I stopped caring
The last good Terminator was technically Sarah Connor Chronicles and maybe the one before Genisys. After the Sarah Connor Chronicles went belly up and they left the story nowhere with John Henry and Cameron, that was pretty much the end. Then we got crap like Jai Courtney and it was done.

Jim Cameron coming back to ‘exec produce’ means nothing, they clearly have no idea how to bring this franchise back. Pop culture has moved on and this looks like a drab feminist cringefest.
The way to bring this series back to relevance would be to produce a dark, nasty, ultra-violent, Horror Sci Fi in the vein of T1, that does not require Arnold to prop it up, but rather a film that stands on it’s own.
Also PG-13 for a Terminator film is pathetic. There should be no comedy in a Terminator film, but look at Deadpool- there is a big audience for R rated action films.
And also to wait about 10 years first, because after Salvaion and Genysis there is no appetite for this right now. This film will get average reviews and flop at the box office.

1. Bad entertainment would get ridiculed, judged and made to improve, while now, standards are lowered and nobody is held accountable for their mediocre product.

There were a lot more good movies than crap, as opposed to now there is som much crap that it's become a chore to find anything with substance. And the companies/studio''s behind it are too big to fail, so they don't give a fuck, as long as it puts bread in their hands.

I just watched the film via streaming. You have covered every single bit about this film that I have a major problem with, and all you did was watch the trailer. And I love your analysis of the original two films and how none of that is not in the rest of the films.
T2 is the last movie. Everything after was high budget fan fiction.

This really highlights how good T1 and T2 were, despite the often annoying presence of Ed Furlong and an uncomfortably likeable Arnie in the sequel. At least the first two had copious elements of suspense, plot ( albeit weird ), jaw dropping action and well cast actors. Arnie, Linda, Michael Biehn and an awesome Robert Patrick as the menacing T1000. Special effects really reached a watershed moment with T2, which were consolidated soon after with Jurassic Park. Since then it's been all down hill for the Squerminator series. Now it's no longer about art, just money. James Cameron should be ashamed of himself, and Linda Hamilton's credibility, whatever was left of it, is now shot to pieces. Everyone knows it's going to be one turgid and colossal shite fest, so hopefully no one will turn up at the cinema and the studio will lose a fortune so we can put paid to this long dead franchise once and for all!!

@@gus4446 No, it is not. James Cameron is one of the producers, but he isn't directing (Tim Miller directs T: Dark Fate). He has intervened in the story... together with other four guys, according IMDb; the screenplay has been written by other three different guys.
This could be a truly groundbreaking third failed attempt to start a separate trilogy within a single franchise.

5:45 when making T2 the whole idea was Arnold is the Panzer but Robert Patrick is a Porsche.
They tried just using brute force but now it's time to think things out a little bit more.
T2's final scene in the factory is easily one of the greatest scenes in the action genre, a staple and an example of how you deliver with the genre. All subsequent attempts to copy that portion of one of the greatest action movies in cinema history have been laughable. This movie has been the greatest insult to the franchise. I can't imagine what must be going on in the head of the person that gave the green light for this atrocious joke.

yea just shows that as society and politics get more complex causing more division among people it certainly seems hollywood doesnt really care bout entertainment anymore. we dealt with racial issues in the 20th century but they werent forcibly shoved into the movies we enjoyed. movies back then were just entertainment you can enjoy. nowadays it seems that mediocrity, revisited ideas, overdone CGI, poorly written characters, or characters we had and seen before that were characters based on who they were not what race or sex they were. doesnt seem like hollywood has a clue on what audiences really want. but rather what they want us to have instead. if anything saying a strong female character is strong simply cause of her sex is not only insulting but rather making women look bad by saying youre special cause of your sex and nothing more. same with men. its pretty much racism. i just dont get how thats a good representation of someone to look up to at all or like. seems hollywood is doing no different than the hip hop industry. you base your creative work off of the quantity of sales rather than quality of the work you presenting. that sad its devolving this low. guess the joke is on them.

I watched the 3 Musketeers (1993) with my Wife today. She had never seen it. It was thoroughly entertaining, and a good well written classic. This is what its come to, We have to go backwards to be entertained like the good ol days.

The thing not needed in any terminator movie, a Matrix fight. The action and stunts always felt grounded in reality. That slow mo cgi camera movment BS destroys all immersion.

The in universe explaination for the discontinued use of the T-1000 line of terminators is that skynet made them with semi/psuedo/actual free will.
Different T-1000s across the line were either beginning to sympathise with the resistance or outright joining them.
Skynet discontinued the line.
