    I recently had an aluminum front wheel and one of the studs was spinning in the hub. I tried drilling stud through center of lug nut, and that did not work at all. had a carbide burr and tried to grind the side of the lug, no luck with that as the cone of the nut is down in a hole. Tried air chisel, no luck there. After about 2 1/2 hours I got the torch and aimed the blow towards center of stud, and had it off in less than 2 minutes. Burned the clear coat around hole but no damage to wheel.

    The aluminum isn’t effected because steel goes through an endothermic reaction with acetylene and oxygen. You can’t cut aluminum with an oxy fuel torch. Just FYI cool video tho! I might have to try this I have a vw lug bolt with no way of getting it out, the head is a circle with a weld on the inside idk who made it I bought it that way..

    That’s what happened to my jeep!…. What worked for me was a lug nut removal socket and a sledgehammer, making sure the socket is all the way seated against the wheel!… how do use two different sizes one to remove the otter casing and then another one for the nut

    Hey, is the rotor or wheel hub damaged by this torch process???

    • @dkenderdine79
      @dkenderdine79  Před 4 lety

      No. If you do it how I show you only the studs need to be replaced. With the wheel in place it acts like a heat sink. There is very little heat transfer to the rotor and hub face

    What’s the name of the grease and the tank to use the torch? Where can I buy?

    • @justin456
      @justin456 Před 4 lety

      You can get high temp grease from any auto parts store, an oxy fuel setup will require a trip to a welders supply store and some training, there's some seriously important safety steps when working with acetylene.

    • @dkenderdine79
      @dkenderdine79  Před 3 lety

      Your setting will vary with your tip size. But I usually run mine around 10 Psi for the gas and 40 for the oxy. For anything less than 1 1/2" thick
