I like how Aunt May just slapped that accountant's hand for being greedy, and then smacked Doc Ock at his head to save Spider-Man. She's a real hero.
Honestly he didn't need saving. The angle he was coming at him from, would've still deflected the sharp impale and landed on the wall like he already before diving for May. She just wanted to show her true strength that the elderly are still umbrella, purse and slipper strong whoopers.

Not sure if this was said already but… what I love about this scene is the irony of Peter and May struggling to get a loan and Doc Ock robbing the bank across the way 😂
Technically Peter's senses should've been going off with danger nearby being those arms, whether they were hid or not. Makes no sense there compared to his senses when Green Goblin crashes the festival and he sensed him coming from a mile away.

"Let mom and dad talk to for a minute will ya" "Eat your green vegetables" "Hate those things" "I guess you haven't heard, I'm the sheriff around these parts" then "Where do all these guys come from" tbh A lot of the bully maguire memes are quips.
Also the problem with web shooters is that, like what Raimi/Tobey has already said in interviews, if Peter did develop webshooters tech and the web fluid, why would he need to be poor when those techs are so advanced that he could sell them? He would help his aunt May so she wasn't kicked out of their house. Thats why they went with the organic webbing scenario. It fit the plot.

Tobey's webs are more rubbery. U can see when something is going fast and he webs them they like stretch. He also did that slingshot thing in this scene. The train scene is the perfect example. The train literally traveled for minutes with all those webs still attached to the houses, and they just kept stretching.
Garfields webs are more rigid and not so stretchy. Compare the scenes where Garfield does the slingshoty thing. The webs barely stretch.
What difference does it make?
You don't go bungee jumping on a chain, that will break your spine in more ways than imaginable. You go bungee jumping on a rubber.
Tobey also saved MJ from falling off the building at the parade after during the first green goblin attack on the building.
This is one of the most comic book scenes in one of the most comic book ass movies we've got. A mad scientist with a master plan robs a bank in broad daylight using only his sci-fi appendages to tank all the damage. Hero just happens to be there and ready with some quick wits and pluck. The day is saved not through raw strength, but because the hero's trying to save his loved one and she's part of where he gets the fighting spirit from. Still holds up even today.

Nahh, he's just villain in comics it's pretty much the same
Yet Aunt May’s umbrella strike to his face really upended him! 🤣🤣
That's what I've always wondered. Hell, he was able to withstand punches from Spider-Man, who literally has superhuman strength. Each of his punches should be equivalent to getting hit by a medicine ball.
my theory is since the arms are literally infused in his spine, they control his central nervous system and block most of the pain

For me, this movie and Superman (1978) are the only ones that fully captured the emotional underpinnings and flavor of the source material completely, and even expanding the best elements for the different medium. There’s no need for the cookie cutter forces theater gags, the movie contains naturally paced out comedy bare and simple. MCU spider-man ain’t got shit except BEING APART OF THE MCU. It’s an indirect joke, comedy done well. Hell the only gag in this scene is Aunt may slapping the coin out of the guys hand. Its not like the MCU where bs joke has to be thrown to get the laugh count higher. Hell the writing in homecoming is hilarious because there’s a scene where peter is kicked off the team, Flash Thompson gets on his ass saying you’re not coming back because you’ve skipped too many (a perfect consequence). For some reason I find it hilarious that Doctor Octavius thought to add that “knife” to a piece of laboratory equipment. Maybe it’s supposed to be some sort of sensor for monitoring the fusion reaction but did he have to make it look so sinister and sharp 😂 🔪
back when comic-book movies were COMIC-book movies, not obsessed with hyperrealism and hyper logic
Maybe it’s like a flash drive, like in robocop.
I personally assume that he added it later.
My headcanon is that once the AI in his arms took over his brain, he started using the arms more as weapons. We know that the arms took control when the circuitry in the inhibitor chip got fried in the experiment that went wrong. That's when the AI of the arms took over. Then when the doctors tried to remove the arms, they went berserk in an effort to protect themselves. I believe that ever since then, the arms perceive anything that approaches them in a similar manner as those doctors as a threat or attempted threat to their existence, motivating them to lash out for self-preservation. So under their influence, between the time Doc escaped the hospital and decided to rob the bank to fund his experiment, he modified the arms to give them more features that made them function more like weapons and not just lab equipment.

True but imo mid air headbutts are weaker. Spider-Man intentionally did it to hold back from killing him.

I feel this scene is when Aunt Mary figured out her nephew was Spider-Man. At first when Peter left her at the bank, she thought he left her but suddenly Spidey appears shortly after. And @4:02 when he yells, May looks like she recognized Peter's voice. Plus the whole hero speech she gives Peter later on is too on point just to be a consequence.
Aunt May: "Do I get to french you upside-down?~"
;-3
Spider-Man: "Aunt May, what the hell!?"
The only Aunt May and Peter Parker I ever cared about. This Spidermam series was gold. No reboot, no MCU, no DCEU versions will ever come close.
Where did DCEU come to this wat xD
Definitely the most accurate Aunt May of the movies, this whole sequence was lifted directly from a comic I read as a kid that I got from a jumble sale in the 70s for a penny.
3:45 Stan Lee 😯
That's how Spider-Man fight should look like and not something with gadgets and high tech. Tom was right when he said that he is nothing without Tony Stark's suit because suit does like 90% of the job for him.
he just feels like a second iron man + some powers
True but I don't think Toby's Spiderman would do too great in space or vs Thanos without any stark tech
That's why in Spiderman no way home, Tom and Andrew were suprised realizing that Tobey can produce his own webs from his body, because Tom and Andrew can't do that, they need technology to create webs
Yea, that's why I love the fighting in the Rami trilogy. Raimiverse Spiderman actually fought like, well.....a damn spider. Boxing people on walls and trains and shit that's what Spiderman does in the comics. I'm honestly tired of seeing MCU Spiderman fight on the ground and in space, he should be tackling dudes on buildings and trains. That's how Spiderman should fight.
5:10 The two shots of him getting caned in slow motion here are fucking hilarious for some reason.
That shot of the woman screaming into the camera when Doc Ock is climbing the window is hilarious. I hope they got that in one take. Can’t imagine doing that scene more than twice even 😂.
That actress was Bonnie Somerville, who played one of Ross Geller's girlfriends (named Mona) in "Friends".

3:50 Ock tried to stab Spidey through the damn head. Never noticed that til now.
The best Spider-Man and the best movie based on a Marvel character ever made!
What I always found odd was that at 1:06 he's using his hands like he's controlling the octo-arms, but he NEVER does that again in any of the scenes.
I always figured that just maybe not all the control brain function chip was lost on being fried and some still works with little actions or could just be a habit inflicted upon after getting the arms connected to his spine.
Not true. Later you see him throw pieces of the clock at Peter and he uses his real hands.
It's always the women that come up with the most lies.
Maybe because he learned how to do it with less effort
Jeff Winger doing a great job!
His banking skills were streets ahead
Aunt May was the most vivid character in these movies.
Everybody knows an Aunt May
MCU Spiderman: "You've got metal tentacles... that's awesome!"
Still the best Spidey film.
I like how Sam Raimi always casts hot chicks/models for any girl that's going to be on screen for more than 2 seconds.
2:25 some other commenter in another video mentioned to look at how Ock’s tentacles shook while trying to crush spidey’s skull. His bones are like vibranium.
His bones are not nearly as strong as vibranium. Where’d you get your comic knowledge from
It looked like they were either doing that or trying to rip his head off.
"Hand her over."
"Of course"
(Drops Aunt May)
"Butterfingers"
such a good movie... miss this series of spider-man.
This man was the best spider man
If Aunt May knew who Peter really was, this is probably the scene she figured it out in
I love how Stan lee just pops up anywhere 😂 like he’s not the genius behind all of this 😂
1:55 - Me buying tickets for No Way Home.
Those girls at the end. “Take me with you” “save me” haha
As much as I like the MCU, I had forgotten how much more these old films feel like a comic book. There's a cartoonish energy to all of it that I think is missing from the new movies. Like how in real life they don't have giant sacks of coins in a bank vault, but in a comic book it would just make sense for Doc Ock to be throwing them as a weapon. I kinda miss the silliness, it's a little less realistic but a little more fun.
"I'm giving toaster lessons again"..."Well at least we get the piano."
I laughed so hard with this comment bro hahah
This just proves that Aunt May is the real Spider-Man
I love the little detail at 1:32. His bottom left arm grounds him so his actual, biological feet don't get crushed by the force of lifting three adult males.
