Gipsy Dean takes you on a tour of Ibarra, the capital of the Imbabura province in Ecuador. We view the historical center and a little of the outlying areas.
Beautiful photos of such a beautiful small city and its surrounding landscape. I know that Ecuador is technically a tropical country, but I still wonder how so many palm trees can grow and thrive so high up in the much cooler & cloudier Andes (in a city at more than 7,000ft above sea level) where the average daytime temperatures rarely reach above 75°? Thank you for your informative and beautifully presented video.
I spent about two months in Ibarra about 20 years ago. Here I sit with a plate full of fritada de carne and some aji. I love that place. (How did you not include the ice cream spot?)
Finally I find a good video in English on Ibarra! Thanks man Any idea why there are so few expats and tourists there compared to other areas in Ecuador? Any pictures and info on white city park? It looks amazing!!!
@@GipsyDean I just watched another video on Cotacachi and it looks amazing! Congrats on your move to Mexico 😊. May I ask why you left? and do you have any insight on the year-round weather in cotacachi?
I spent a few days in Ibarra. There isn't a ton to do, but it seemed like a cool place if you wanted to live there and just kinda blend in to life without a bunch of foreigners ruining the vibe.
@@drkateflynn: Its climate is generally cool & comfortable, highs in the mid-70s & lows in the upper-40s to low-50s. Sunny mixed with clouds, overcast & drizzle in the wet season (I personally like it). Very green landscape... well you're in the Andes.

In California, USA, I know that the palm trees are full of rats. Is it that way in Ecuador, too?
I never seen any...
