Many Russians are against it because they're culturally very different, ignore laws and commit crime. Also, they raped and killed Russians after the fall of the Soviet Union in Tadjikistan but now they all want to go to Russia and a lot of them do not respect locals. It's a systematic problem after the collapse of the USSR which is resurfacing now as many many problems such as the war in Ukraine which is a direct result of improper border creation of artificial countries where ethnic groups are split and separated which is the case of Donbass and Crimea. Same with Abkhazia in Georgia or Gagauzia in Moldova or Prednistroviya. Unfortunately all these territories are becoming buffer zones between western influence and Russia which is legally still the USSR (note that most of countries exited USSR but Russia never did).
According to law even if they were not aware had to check the passports of the online renters and keep the record.
