Marcus och Martinus Gunnarsen slog igenom redan som tioåringar när de vann Norges motsvarighet till Lilla Melodifestivalen.
Under sitt dryga decennium i rampljuset har de bland annat sålt ut en egen arenaturné i Europa, turnerat med artister som Jason Derulo och uppträtt på kronprinsessan Victorias 40-årsfirande med en specialskriven låt.
2016 utsågs duon till "Årets spellemann", det tyngsta priset på Spellemann-galan, som är den norska motsvarigheten till Grammisgalan.
Deras största hit “Elektrisk” blev den låt som legat längst på topp 10-listan i Norge med sina 66 veckor. De vann svenska Masked Singer 2022 och flyttade sin bas till Stockholm, där de arbetar med svenska låtskrivare och producenter.
De Melodifestival-debuterade 2023 med "Air, som" blev det första bidraget i Melodifestivalens historia att gå direkt till final utan att någon av de tävlande artisterna vid någon tidpunkt hade bott i Sverige. I finalen slutade Marcus & Martinus på andra plats och blev den tangerat bäst placerade helt utländska akten någonsin, tillsammans med Arja Saijonmaa (1987).

Many singers have participated in Eurovision for countries other than their own. There's no rule restricting the nationality or country of birth of participating artists.

It's my wish every year that my country Iceland (and specifically our broadcaster RÚV) starts producing a national final similar to Melodifestivalen. Not the same scale, obviously - after all, we are a much smaller country - but like using it as a blueprint. Norway did and look how well that's worked for them!
I’m really pleased for these two, gracious in defeat last year and an earned victory this year I’m looking forward to seeing them in Malmö and I hope they get a Top 5 finish at least 😁
I did not know this moment would happen when i as a 4 year old whatched Marcus and Martinus win MGP junior (Norwegian Melodifestivalen for under 16) that 12 years later go to Eurovision. Congrats Marcus and Martinus and good luck in Malmö 🎊🎊

And it's far from the first time in ESC that someone with a different nationality represents a country, for god sakes Australia is in as well, everyone's welcome. I actually liked Air better than Unforgettable, but last year it was hard to win because of loreen and this year they didn't have that big competitors so they won. I'm still proud and happy for them 🫶

I'm writing my comments in English to ensure they can be read and understood by the majority of people. Since 2007, I've been watching "Melodifestivalen," and I've noticed something interesting. Whenever I pick a song for Eurovision from the contest, it tends to win. But if my favorite song doesn't make it in "Melodifestivalen," Sweden usually doesn't do well in Eurovision. I'm not sure why. Maybe when Sweden doesn't want to host Eurovision again, they pick a weaker song on purpose to avoid winning. Money could be tight because of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Anyways, good luck to contestants Marcus & Martinus! This year, I've found three awesome songs: SIP, Dotter, and Jay Smith [Dude, you came in a wrong time .. this is TikTok generation), and two fun ones from Cazzi Opeia and Medina. Thanks to "Melodifestivalen" for another great year! 👍

Remember that Celine Dion represented Switzerland; she is not even holding the citizenship of any ESC countries. My problem with this song is that just like Loreen's Tattoo, it too sounds like a production of Swedish pop song assembly line. The side effect of the current ESC voting system is now negatively affecting every single ESC member when they choose their representative.

This song wasn't even top 7 in the competition. Their win is absolutely shameful. They sang the same few words over and over again and the music wasn't good. Nothing against the boys, they make great music, but this one was not worthy of winning
