  • Blepharitis is the inflammation of the eyelids and is a common eye condition, particularly in children. Dr Annegret Dahlmann-Noor, a leading ophthalmologist, explains what blepharitis is and her best advice for managing it.

For everyone feeling stuck with this! This is not a diagnosis, its a symptom of something else. I've done Allergy Immunology and it's going away. Sinuses or allergy are connected

I agree wholeheartedly. I am 63 and this has bothered me for years, but now my eyes are irritated and crusty every morning and two red rings around them. I happened by this accidentally and so glad .My tears constantly run down my sinuses and always have a clear watery drip. Especially in any cold, or wind or just all the time. I thought it could be possible that I might be allergic to the secretions produced by the microscopic eye mites….has your doctor mentioned this at all?

What helped me was Hypochlor gel (2x a day) to clean my eye margins with cotton pads. I also use systane complete, preservative free drops to keep my eyes moisturized. But the most effective treatment was treating my scalp dandruff. No one told me that scalp dandruff can transfer to your eyes. I started using a medicated dandruff shampoo 2-3 times a week, and I have not had a flare up since.

@@normalpsychology glad to help! No one mentioned it to me at all. Once I started regularly treating my scalp, in addition to cleaning my eyelids, my flare ups stopped. I was waking up with red eyes every few weeks. I haven’t had a flare since June now when I started using Selsun Blue Medicated 2-3 times a week. I can usually tell when I need it because my scalp also starts to feel itchy. Try to refrain from touching your scalp then your face, especially when you need to wash your hair. And yes, you can get dandruff in your eyebrows and eyelashes!!! Make sure you let the shampoo sit in your hair a few minutes. Lather and scrub really well. I bought a rubber scalp brush from Amazon that I use to really scrub the oil and dandruff off my scalp.

I thought I had gotten rid of this, but I think not. At first my right eyelid would puff massively, red tint, and would be teary. Tried many things and they thought it was just a recurring stye when no! Blepharitis. The doctor suggested to use baby soap or tea tree oil. It helped out! Just washing my eyes everyday with it. Now all that annoyingly occurs is that my BOTH eyelids still puff up to the point where there’s no crease and itchy every now and then. Also try to do warm compress if you haven’t & eye drops. Right now idk if it’s my blepharitis or a stye that’s making my right eye uncomfortable, but I’m blaming the trigger on lashes/lash glue 😭😭 hope I was any help
