Mopar High Impact Colors of 1970 - Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode 337 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
One night when I was working as a seasonal ranger in Wind Cave National Park I climbed a hill in back of my cabin to take in the cool and splendor of the evening. As I was watching the buffalo that inhabited the park a '69 RoadRunner in that wonderful hemi orange came thru on the highway. The sound/sight of that car reached clear to my soul and I swore to myself that someday I'd own one. The next year I had saved all my nickels and dime and worked extra jobs and bought a '70. Rarely in life does a man get to touch a dream; mine was the wonderful lime green.
That's a great story, thanks for sharing it.
@@brody.4098 I ran it hard.....put it away wet....and it took it all. Traded it for a new Chevy Nova.....whatta mistake....the Chev was pumping oil @ 30,000. Hindsight is 20/20.
Had a 383 sassygrass green 71 runner w/ white top and interior.
Gave it away when I went in the Navy.
Young and dumb!☹
I am from Europe from the Czech Republic and I have '72 Demon in bright red with the black stripes, twinscoop hood snorkel and with white letter Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires and it feels so good to just cruise around in it among the modern traffic, because it's like a time machine :) Some people were able to experience these cars as new and some half a century later...this is just so crazy how life can be. Anyways, go Mopar go!!
If it's a classic Mopar it doesn't matter what color it is it's still a thing of beautiful.
@Travis Bickle That was a nice story. Old cars and trucks leave memories with us forever. Merry Christmas to you as well!
I will always love Dodge's usage of wild colors.
Only a Mopar can be pink and masculine at the same time.
@@lovethesmellofracefuelinth7374 guess Elvis and his pink caddy aren't man enough for you. Pathetic. Cadillac was first. Mopars are a distant 2nd.
I've tried to convince people that what you say is true, but not a soul will buy into it!
What Me Worry not a factor colour, snowflake. Caddies suck
@@FYMASMD who cares what caddy colors were. lol mopar matter and u know this, mannnn.....
instablaster
1971 Citron Yella / Curious Yellow........Electrifying !!!
I got a diecast Plymouth Duster in Curious Yellow for Christmas. Great color!
The Hemi Orange is hard to beat.
I wish Dodge would bring Hemi Orange back. Go Mango is a great orange too, but it's hard to beat the HEMI.
I'd love to have any of those colors as long as it's on a MOPAR. My favorite would be GO Green & Plum Crazy Purple
My Stepfather had a ‘70 SuperBee in Plum Crazy he bought new. I got to drive it one time after I got my license before he traded it. That’s my favorite high impact color. Thanks for the video! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I’m a fan of all the colours shown but if I was to pick one I’d go with Sublime, it’s right out there 👍
The plum crazy crazy challenger R/T is my favourite
My favorite purple at that
FM3 Panther pink/ Moulin Rouge
We used to call it Rooster Dink Pink. All Body & Paint guys called it that.
Mopar or No Car!!! My 72 Demon was Orange with Black stripes!!Plum crazy Purple is one of my favorites!! My friend Helen had a Red Super Bee!!We wish we had these Cars Now!!!
@Travis Bickle Thanks for your awesome comment!! You never forget your first car 😂! My Demon was my pride and joy! I miss the 80's,it was the best time of my life!! Your right the world was much better in the Past!! Merry Christmas to you from a Canadian Girl, that misses being young, and her Mopar Car!!
Ha, this is crazy. You had a '72 Demon back in the day and us Europeans enjoy these badass rides now. We have had socialism for over 40 years in Czechoslovakia, but now I have a ' 72 Demon in my favorite bright red color, black stripes, twinscoop hood snorkel and white letter Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires :) It feels so awesome to just cruise it among these boring modern cars. It makes me feel like I am experiencing times I wasn't around for before :)
Yep it's so true when someone said that only a Mopar can look badass in pink, and is 100% spot on. I think its awesome that they brought back the high impact colors, and look great on the gen3 Challengers to. Unfortunately they cancelled PCP as well as greengo for the 2020 model year, and am really disappointed they did. Although it's not a high-impact color, they also canceled destroyer grey and is one of my faves ☹️
Damn I’m happy I got my 2019 in Destroyer then! I don’t think that color was all to common to begin with.
Back in the 70s my favorite was that last green that you showed on that Cuda and here where I live a guy has a Road Runner in that color with a black vinyl roof
Always enjoy the show ! I also love the way Mopar has stepped out of the box with their colors . I like 'em all as far as the colors
go . Don't think I have ever came up on one of the pink cars .
I freaking love the panther pink... So awesome in your face
This video brings back so many memories, my uncle worked for Chrysler in the late 60’s and 70’s. He took me with to a few dealerships and I was in awe.
My favorite color MOPAR? All of them of course.
Mopar is still doing it today, high impact colors, a plethora of different model trim levels, and crazy horsepower!
Sublime. I have a current gen Challenger in that color. Love it.
All those colour schemes from the era of the "60's" and "70's" is very American as well extremely unique. Without a doubt American heritage and if I may say even in folklore. America certainly knew and still do know how to make their domestic brand of automobiles look incredibly "Ultra Cool" indeed. Please don't loose that tradition of craftsmanship!!! A great vid as always!!!!! P.S My favourite colour is the "Road Runner Orange" :-))
ALL COLORS WHERE AWESOME!
B5 blue 😍😍😍
It's tough to pick a fave for me,but I knew every single one by name though!!! Crazy great looking ones when they're racing on by for sure!!! Hell, some even looked like they were flying just sitting in the driveway!!!
Back when you chose a color because you were in love with it!!! Not the resale value my 1969GTX was green with black interior!!!2022
It really depends on what car you put the color on. Some look good on certain models while some do not. My personal favorite is the Tor Red on a Roadrunner. Sassy Grass looks great on a Cuda, as does In Violet.
I love the high impact colors, and Plum Crazy is my fave. But many repaints are done incorrectly--when these cars were new, they were nowhere near as glossy and shiny as the repaints are today
Great video Kevin, I concur on dodge's color choices. My favorite is the green. Today it seems there's nothing but white and black on the road.
Tons of silver, too. It has been the most popular color for years now.
Get a wrap. Save the original paint and get the color you want.
Sublime is, well, SUBLIME!
My 2014, Challenger R/T Plus, color is TorRed. This color really pops. But, the Sublime, would be my second favorite from Dodge. I thought the Mango color was called Hemi Orange.
such a great times...
Panther pink all the way! Now would I have bought my car in that color in 70/71? Probably not with so many awesome color choices but that is such a striking color! My two little girls love Mopars, one because it’s all we’ve ever owned and two they have pink and purple cars!
Great memories.Bought a 69 T5 Bronze Fire with the metallic white pinstripes in 1972 for 1600.oo bucks. My dad near killed me and told me it was a waste of money. Well i still own the car and still drive it. And still love it! The one time dad was wrong lol!
One of the most gorgeous pictures ever seen on the web showed the rear views of a lime light '70 'Cuda and a tor red '71 'Cuda in the same garage driveway ...
EL5 Bahama Yellow, the original color of my 71 Cuda. Same color as the Nash Bridges Cuda.
Ford stopped making a F150 back in 97 or 98 when their trucks took on a beta look to them. I am a pre 98 Ford guy but after that no. In 2012 I bought a single cab short bed grayish color Ram Express. The first month I took off that crappy air intake box fabricated a curved 4 inch pipe and added the biggest K+N round air filter and also had a body shop matte black the top of the hood and they also made brackets for hood pins ,what a great look. I later put in a Outlaw muffler and it sounds great. I'll take my V8 HEMI over a crappy turbo 6 banger Ford any day of the week.
In 2005 I bought a special edition Dodge Daytona Ram std. cab 1\2T GO-MAN-GO hemi. it was stunning!
Hope you still have it.
i think all these cars look really cool :-) some are definitely a bit Louder than others but, they're still really sweet looking cars either way.
The last of the colors, Sassyfrass aka Greengo, seems to be what the Seattle Hawks coined as their mascot and team colors.
I have a sublime green 2019 Challenger and it was the color that really made we want to get one. The retro body style didn’t hurt either of course.
Great job ! Kevin keep it up ! I think a-lot of peaple really enjoy those short documentry's ! & great for younger generation to learn !
Insanity I love they colours , amazingly beautiful and all the options so fabulous
Top Banana/Lemon Twist !
Always great content, Kevin! Thanks! :)
I'll take ANY of those colors over the dull silver blobs we call cars today.
Curious Yellow/Citron Yella is probably my favorite, but I love them all. Fk5 was a nice copper colour and was supposed to be called "Catch Me Copper" but Chrysler thought it was too anti authority or some such thing. My brother had a Curious Yellow Demon, my Duster was Vitamin C, my 70 Swinger was Catch Me copper, another brother had a Challenger in Catch Me Copper and my good friend had a 70 Charger 500 SE in Sublime. I love them all!!!
I had a 70 Challenger SE FK5 car 383 4 speed, hated the color but loved everything else, wish I knew what happen to it. I love the "Catch Me Copper" name, I also heard another name that didn't make it past the censors was "Statutory Grape".
@@markdonaldson5834 I remember that one also, and there were a few others that were rejected, now I'll have to do a google search.
@@markdonaldson5834 Did your Challenger have leather seats? I can't remember if leather seats was part of the 500 package or part of the SE package in my buddies Charger.
Such a great feature. Visual cornucopia of eye-popping colors on pristine, powerful muscle cars. Thanks!
Wish duster 340s had more respect. They never will and its such a great car. But they hold no value apparently. 70 duster was bad ass.
I agree... that A Bodies, get looked pass by the B and E Crowd.. but the ones who know, Love and Respect them.. Daily Drive my 68 Dodge Dart everyday and Everywhere..
Hey, good news. I can buy one without spending the Barrett-Jackson amount of money
Man, us Europeans love all american cars, not just muscle cars and pony cars. Anything old from the US is welcome, because these old american cars have a soul. Cool ride as a Duster is an absolute bomb here :) That's the kinda car that puts a smile on people's faces. I got a '72 Dodge Demon 340 in bright red with all the proper Demon stripes and the twinscoop hood snorkel and people always wave at me and give me thumbs up. The vibrant red color, the long stripes, the Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires with white letters make it really stand out. Of course that the Demon compared to the big names like a Charger, Stang, Firebird etc. is basically unknown, but it sure as hell gets all the respect, when people see it and hear it on the road :) Seeing a Demon or a Duster half a century later here in Europe is extremely rare and thus people love it. To be honest with you I wouldn't swap my Demon for anything. Ferraris and Lambos are nice, but they ain't a classic muscle/pony car. There's no school like OLDSCHOOL...
Another vote for Panther Pink.
All great colours, but having owned a 71 440 Cuda in Tor Red from 2008 to 2019,that has to be my fave. When the sun shone, it popped with the metallic flek sparkling.
Where is GY3 Citron Yella / Curious Yellow ?
Plum crazy purple :)
I'm surprised they didn't mention B5 Blue.
Robby Parsonson B5 is one of my faves too, but I don’t think it was considered ‘high impact ‘
I always thought B5 was a High Impact color until recently. It should have been.
Such ballsy colors offered in the 70’s.... it took a lot of heart to choose any one of them
"It takes a special person to like that color". LOL Back then I would agree, but I think just because of the nostalgia I now love all of those colors!
440 with the air grabber 😎💗
i think black is a perfect color for these cars but though i've never liked pink that panther pink is way cool
Once again Kevin, thanks.
Heard a story at a local Mopar show that when they were trying to come up with the name for the purple, one engineer suggested Statutory Grape. Don't know if it is true or not but it's a great story.
Panther Pink is incomparably awesome. I wouldn’t care if it ran, I’d be happy to just sit and stare at it.
I’ve had a few of these - kept the Plum Crazy ‘70 Challenger R/T - pain in the ass to own & nerve wracking to drive but gawd it’s beautiful
When I bought my 2014 Challenger R/T back in late 2013, I so wanted a High Impact Color, but sadly they were made in limited numbers so I couldn't find any. I ended up getting Jazz Blue Pearl.
When I was a teenager I remember seeing a s/w with a factory removable hood ( sec. W/ 4 pins) . It had a 440 six pack / auto on the column
The last car you shown the green one
G&L Guitars came out with some of these colors on their instruments a couple of years back. Very cool.
My favorite is sassy grass. Panther pink only looked good on Cud’s and Challengers with black striping.
I kinda like the color chip skin! Gives me an idea.
I had a 1970 road runner I restored in my garage 25 years ago, I couldn`t paint but I was good with a body board, by hand, 7 months later when I primed and finished the body, I took it to the Macco at the corner and asked if he could paint it Limelight, and stripe the air grabber hood, I had all the dimentions for the hood paint, $1,100 later, my friend came over too cut and buff some orange peel on those monster quarters and doors, and that car looked fantastic, I put the grille and trim back on, replated the bumpers, and never did tell anyone Macco did the paint, that car would turn heads, I threw on Cragars and BFG`s, 3 years later I had to sell it, because of a divorce, only $4,500 was all I could get, still makes me sick today, 50-60k all day today.
well, that was interesting 🤔 I'd probably get the Plymouth Hemicuda' in matte brown but if it was between those colors mango orange green or purple nice, video.
Well my favorite impact Plymouth color and I must say I am biased in my opinion because all I had a1970 RoadRunner that was vitamin C, So that obviously is my favorite impact color!
27 colors to choose from? Today you would be lucky to have 7.
Right Lane Hog I thought there was only three white, silver and turd brown
More like 1...a dozen variations on silver
i got to see a 1966 Chevy Impala with a 396 Turbo-Charger yesterday and it was Awesome :-)
Hi School I had a 73 bronco painted plum crazy
All colors are cool.
Black and chrome 💪
Love the curious yellow on a duster
I like them ALL..........
WE didn't see the Limelight cars unveiled. I did, but you were off in a foreign country.
Those aren't just cars, they are art.
I'm a very special person.
Good video.
Go Mango is my favorite dodge color for sure!
R 4 Bright red
Matching color bumper option gives an
impression of greater integration ,
but on the Cuda
thor red show here at 4:20 , the front one seems to be totally flush .
Illusion or have they been frenched?
The Tor-red cuda is stock, just looks frenched. I have a Plum crazy 71 Challenger with the rubber bumpers, but I like the chrome ones better as they seem to fit closer to the body and as you can tell on the Cuda the front sticks out too much, in my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
Cool video really interesting
Plum Crazy 🤪
I've got a 1973 Dodge Challenger I want to restore. Needs mostly a little body work and paint. Gotta pick a colour. It was originally gun metal grey. It's a non-Mopar yellow now.
Challenger with a 44 6 Pak in Panther Pink
Sassy grass green😂
I have three unrestored color cars, 70 Plumb Crazy R/T Challenger, 70 Plumb Crazy Deputy Challenger & 70 Sublime R/T Coronet.
Just Badass... Mopar Everyday and Everywhere... Daily driver 68 Dart..

@@AtZero138 I could use a better neighbor! The Barracuda sat under a tree for 29 years & was $600. The donor was a 94 Ram Van that took a hit in the side for $500 & gave up engine, trans, A/C & cruise. Fun & cheap is my style.

Sassy grass is my favorite.
I like a lot of the colors, but the Panther Pink one may be the most valuable as they didn't make many it that color.
Plum crazeee!!!
And nowadays if you want to buy one of those cars you get to use a lot of the high impact color...MONEY GREEN.
One of the reasons for the 1970 bright colors was because of NASCAR, and how the cars would look on then-new color TV sets.
I'd go with greengo, banana or orange.
Mopar!
Sassy grass green for me!
Panther pink
If you watch Pink Panther cartoon back in the day you would understand?
What about Curious Yellow I have a 71 440 6 pk Super 🐝 Bee. They made it in 71 only.
The Easter egg collection..
