- Playing games and living intentionally can feel like two opposing forces, and it's something I've struggled with for a long time. Now that I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, I wanted to share what I've learned and what I've put into practice so far to help me live a more fulfilled life.

Fantastic video. Put it on my favorites and sent it to all my 40+ friends that are living these dilemmas.
I’m so glad you liked it! I hope your friends find some value in it too.
Totally agree, specially the sales section
I'm happy to hear it resonated with you! I love a good sale.
This popped up in my recommended, and it blew my mind seeing such a high quality video having so few views. I love this. The concept definitely applies to me too.
That is such a nice comment! I'm glad you liked it!
Stress is much alleviated once you start seeing your backlog as an asset and not a liability.
Not focusing on playing the "best game" has also been very important for me, the only thing important is having fun. Even quality is irrelevant when you are having fun.
Somehow ended up here and y’all resonating with a lot of how I’ve been approaching my hobbies and free time lately
Great video. Like you say, there are so many factors to consider. A few other big ones for me that relate strongly to each other are my ability to set aside time to focus and commit to a game which is asking for a big investment and the accessible and easy nature of games like roguelikes and live-service games that offer portioned and non-commitment based experiences. I often have a lot going on and for me the big RPG experiences which I value more than anything are things I want to set aside time for, that I tell myself I don't have.... catch me two hours later doing 'just one more run' on Balatro.
Glad you enjoyed it! For me, Apex Legends is the game I’ll start up when I intend to play for only 30 minutes and I end up playing for three times that. Should’ve just played one of my RPGs!
Excellent points made throughout the video! Happy to say I'm aligned with many of them already. Always more work to be done for self-improvement though :)
P.S. RE4 Remake when!? Tsushima when!? No pressure, lmao, but I will love to hear your take on those when you get around to them :)
P.P.S. RIP Maple Story. Long live the exceptionally timed giant cardboard box & jellybeans
The self-improvement train never stops running! Gotta cool the engines off from time to time, of course.
P.S. They look so good!
P.P.S. The game lives on to this day, I think. It’s absolutely incredible. I still want a sequel in the same visual style. Maybe designed for people with busy lives though!
Working to be more intentional with my gaming, reading, working out, etc. It has gotten noticeably harder to do with the growing commitments (family, work, etc) and moving forward… I’ll be staying away from all of the new game purchases, as I always end up playing Pokemon ROMs from GBA/GBC/3DS.
I try to maintain similar pillars in my life, and it's a real challenge.
There's something to be said for the comfort of a game you're already familiar with. Pokemon is a wonderful nostalgia blast. Maybe one day I'll get around to trying some of the earlier ones I missed!
I have played several memorable games this year, but more than anything else I mindlessly play The Finals. The time I spend with, say, Jusant or the Final Fantasy 7 Remake feels a lot more special, but the irresistible pull of free dopamine that comes from fast-paces shooters is hard to resist.
I get that same feeling with Apex Legends. It’s hard to resist. I also think that sometimes I just need a little time when I don’t have to think too hard.
banger video tbh
Thank you!
I definitely struggle with the stress of the backlog, especially with new games release that I really wanna play (I'm looking at you Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload). It's even tougher as a content creator and wanting to preserve certain games for that content making. I've really tried to take a step back to prevent gaming for feeling like work. Regardless of the backlog, I've been trying to focus on games I feel like playing in my free time, and saving a few titles for content making.
Yes, very much this. Once you start making content with specific games, it gets all sorts of hairy.
Thinking of starting dragons dogma 2 is stressing me out dude, game seems huge
I think it’s a game worth played a little slowly. I love the world, and exploring it is so satisfying. If I were to try to rush through, I have no doubt it would stress me out haha
Great video, how you getting on with DD2? I adored Dark Arisen but that was only a while after release and for cheap, I'm not getting the same feel of DD2 but I'm not sure if it's because I've changed.
I am a hardcore sucker for DD:DA, and DD2 is definitely somewhat of a disappointment. While it has some welcome QoL improvements (like camping or more fast travel options), it severely lacks in terms of both story and actual game content compared to the first game. Especially the post game is disappointing... nothing that compares to the "Everfall" dungeon or the "Ur-Dragon" fight. And obviously nothing that comes close to the "Bitterblack Isle" expansion. Also - putting a time limit on the post-game is the dumbest idea ever; it keeps the player from really exploring the "Unmoored World".
I still love the game, but I really hope they will deliver some big expansion DLC.
Thank you! I’m loving DD2. I’m trying to take my time with it and really soak it all in. Part of me expects that it will see a similar expansion that blows the whole thing wide open (in a good way).
