I hope you will give the original Transformers movie from 1986 a consideration someday. It’s the first generation that started it all and many kids cried and lost their innocence watching it.
The one thing with the VFX that always bugged me about the Transformers movies is when they're in robot mode vs car mode. Look at Bumblebee when he's a robot, you see that his body is all scratched and dirty and has oil streaks on it and everything. Then they transform into a car and his body is perfect, not a ding or a nick at all. And I get it, as a one time would-be animator if you want things looking more realistic, you add flaws to them. You add scratches and imperfections, so yeah you want your robots to have imperfections. But when that doesn't translate to a nice new shiny looking car as soon as they transform. Ugh, it just bugs me! LOL
You wont realize how much of a savage Optimus is until you realize blackout was saying “no prime pleeeeease” before he ripped his face in half

I remember going to the theater to see this in 2009. I was so devastated when Optimus Prime was killed by Megatron in this. But I love the revenge shot in the scene where Optimus goes two on one against Megatron and The Fallen (who by the way was originally named Megatronus). For me, nothing was more karmic than seeing Optimus make Megatron shoot himself in the face with his own cannon.
The last 20 seconds of the Optimus vs Fallen fight had some god tier lines:
"You picked the wrong planet!"
"Give me your face!"
"I rise, you fall!"

Optimus is so ice cold in 2 and 3 it gets you questioning if they are really the good guys. If these were two humans fighting it would be so rated R, bro took his face off and crushed his heart through his torso. Optimus straight up has Mortal Kombat fatalities.

Like he wakes up. He is the fire. He just finds where the smoke went and immediately goes there and says "these hands are rated "E" for Everyone!!!" The new movie rise of the beasts. Is really good. No spoilers. But I have my qualms. Overall I really liked it.
I remember the scene at 12:36 scaring the ever living shit out of me when I was a kid and I saw this for the first time. It was the first instance of "body horror" I ever saw in a movie
One thing that i actually really like about the bayformers is that they don't have chills, there are transformers from all sides dying in all films. Add how rad the fights are and you can easily see how their civil war destroyed their planet

transformers must have the best cgi and effcts in cinema history! even now more then a decade since this movies came out i'm still impressed
Prime has a few out of character lines like “Give me your face” that make him seem sadistic, but the actual savagery in combat still really works for a jaded warrior Prime. And there’s obviously plenty of great lines that better reflect his personality too.
Also, Simmons is the GOAT once you get past the first movie.

I love all of these movies, issues and all , especially since I am a hardcore Transformers fan. I really give ROTF so much pass because of what could of been from the Junior Novel and the video games but love it how it is nonetheless.
It's interesting how the first movie is about Bumblebee and Sam and this one is about Optimus Prime and Sam. I'm actually in the process of watching TF 1 and 2 to get them up just one number behind before I watch them on their anniversaries on July 3 and June 24. I really love Transformers and I do not know if we will ever get an Optimus Prime that is as powerful as his Alternity and IDW Comic counterparts. You should give those a read to, I'm still can't over how strong he is in those. I don't entirely see how these films get so much hate either. I can understand some things but from what I have mostly seen and heard it's a lot crap. What is even stranger, that people don't realize that without Michael Bay making these movies, Transformers would on be a memory and would not exist anymore right after 2006.
It is also awesome that Optimus did say "I rise, you fall," and "You'll never stop at one, I'll take you all on," but the way Optimus Prime acts in these films is not how Optimus is supposed to be, same goes for the majority of the Cybertronians, but I love these versions nonetheless. Plus, because I love Optimus Prime so much and what he means to me that I cannot watch or hear him die. I have actually PTSD because of this, especially when I saw this in theaters, which also the first time I have ever seen a hero, let alone main person die, and all of the other times.
All of these are so nostalgic and awesome and I will definitely always support them. I just also thought if I was in Sam's position, I definitely would not only be hanging out with the Autobots but once Optimus came back to life and everything was okay, I would be crying and hugging Optimus. Cannot wait for Rise of the Beast and love your reactions as always.
I don't get how any TF fans could actually like these movies... Bay did them so, so, so dirty... The movies are hardly about them, more about the stupid made-up obnoxiously cliche, spastic, stereotypical, and 2-dimensional human characters, and the Transformers that are in the movies barely resemble themselves. It would be like if a Spider-Man fan went to go see a Spider-Man movie only to find out that Spider-Man was barely in the film, it was mostly about some kid named Tyrese from the inner city who wanted to be a gangsta rapper so he could make money and buy more crack, and was dating some chick who looked like a porn star even though he was unemployed and had tourette's syndrome. Spider-Man shows up once in a while at the studio where he records his tracks, but this version of him is not a teenage wise-cracking photographer who slings webs, but rather a cantankerous menopausal Asian woman who wears a purple cape with flames on it and whose super power is being able to make hot chicks' clothes disappear when she snaps her fingers. We never see this "Spider-Man" out of costume and she only has 3 lines of dialogue in the film, but screen writers Orci & Kurtzman like giving interviews about how it was really important to them to capture the dynamic between this Spider-Man and her Aunt May (who is mentioned once but never seen in the same scene as "Spider-Man")...
As someone who as a child watched Transformers the Movie (1986, the good one) in theaters, then got it on VHS and watched it so many times that the tape broke, and had so many of the toys I couldn't close my closet door anymore.... that's how I felt when I watched the first Bayformers movie. (and, of course, the 2nd one was much, much, much, much worse than the first one so... yeah...)
@@nooneofconsequence1251 I know that you are not attacking anyone and I will do the same because of respect and how much I am like Optimus Prime. That's the point of being a fan. You don't have to or don't love only one thing. Even if the movies are bad you still love them, depending how they are and who you are. Not just because you grew up and experience one thing from Transformers and only love that particular show or film.
I wasn't born in the 80s even though I exposed myself to Transformers by seeing G1 first a year or two before I was as knowledgeable about Transformers as I am now, let alone not even knowing about a live-action film releasing or in development. Only G1 is what I knew about in 2005-2006. My dad was around that time when G1 released and he never once exposed me to that, I did that on my own as well other things from that time like He-Man for example. It's also not too realistic, I hate to say, that the characters say the same as they were 39 years ago sometimes, specifically for Transformers.
I don't see how any person or fan can just love or like one particular thing and not give anything else a chance because of nostalgia or bias or any other reason. I love G1 and know a lot about it more than anybody during it's release and it's effect in Transformers and history. G1 is what started the franchise, sure, back in September 17, 1984-November 11, 1987. Is it the best thing that Transformers has to offer, not completely. One of the best but not the best overall. That title belongs to Transformers: Prime for show, and for games the War/Fall of Cybertron titles. Devastation is right after that. Comics, that goes to the IDW Comics, in which, gives an upgraded story to G1 and a better one and more everything. The films from Michael Bay are not perfect (no film is) and how well I know Transformers and who everybody is from personalities to look is unrivaled, and the films are not Transformers a 1000% or above what they are supposed to be but the action and the comedy, that is actually funny and clean, is.
If you are also talking about the live-action films with the characters not being who they are, read the tie-in comics and Junior novels if you are willing to give them a chance. They are who they are in those. The video game for Revenge of the Fallen the Wii/PS 2 definitely also do it justice. You can also watch a video here on CZcams how Dark of the Moon was supposed to end and how Optimus Prime and Megatron talk to each other and know each other, is how there are supposed to be.
I know that people forget that without the Michael Bay films, Transformers would not be here. That is a fact. After Cybertron in 2005, the franchise was dying at that point. Michael Bay revived them in a weird way. Look at the content now, we are seeing more stuff now of G1 than back then. The thing about fans it's short for fanatic. Everybody can love what they love, especially if things are justified. Don't destroy someone else's love for something just because you love something and see it as this or that, especially when they are the same in more ways than not.
P.S.: While I do love the Michael Bay films, G1 the movie is my favorite or second favorite. I haven't really decided between that and Bumblebee. If I was a biased person, Bumblebee would win because not only can I not watch any of the Autobots die, but because Optimus Prime is not only my favorite, but he/Peter Cullen are my number 1 heroes, teacher, role-models, mentors, and idols, I am genuinely scared because of Optimus Prime death in that film. I cannot watch or see him die in anything at all.
Oof. To each their own, mate. 😆 As a G1 fan, the only reason I watched any of these was because Peter Cullen still voiced Optimus. I could listen to that man read his grocery list.

I hate the movies without shia but still love the way they look and “barely transforms” in the later movies. You gotta look for the little cool moments unfortunately

she's a different type of Transformer they call them pretenders ..they can transform down to the molecular level Even changing into Different lifeforms.. Regular transformers can't do that ... I remember when this movie came out people were crapping on it because the same type of thing happened with Hearts in terminator salvation ,those 2 movies were in theaters together..

I liked the first Mortal Kombat movie... and I thought Leonard part 6 was hilarious.... but good god this movie was truly awful... and I honestly do wish Michael Bay would have his anus destroyed in a savage gang rape by a pack of silverback gorillas.

I remember watching this at midnight with friends. It was the worst mistake ever. Got exhausted by the end. This movie started off cool but after the Forest Battle it just dragged and dragged. I didn't really find it funny at all. There's something about Bay's humour that I find really annoying. The Villain sucked. The final battle was rushed and over in a minute. It was cool but...what a lame villain after all the built up. The Heaven sequence? WHAT WAS THAT? This movie seriously needed to be shorter.
There's also the fact the original draft/story for this was somewhat better. Would have ended in Las Vegas with the origins of Sector Seven revealed, Space Battles, a giant Transformer Navy Cruiser, cultish elements, Prime loosing at the end and Megan supposedly dying but not really and Sam thinking she's dead and the Decepticons taking over Earth and all hope being lost. Instead...we got this. Its a fun but bad film and fair enough. These films are gulity pleasures but man, I just wish they were better. At least the music and soundtracks have always been fire.

This has got to be one of the worst movies ever made. But I'm in a way glad that it was made because it inspired one of the funniest articles I ever read online over at Topless Robot. Actually 2 of the funniest, as the first one (kind of a review) inspired a 2nd follow-up FAQ because the writer felt he hadn't adequately explained in the first piece just how mind-blowingly stupid this movie was. I was literally laughing out loud reading that whole thing...
Anyway... death to Michael Bay...

Why the fallen so weak,
Because Optimus has the Jetfire upgrades. Even tho he was old when he was younger he was a powerhouse easily one of the strongest transformers add that strength to Optimus and it makes for one hell of a combo.

Do the right thing. Good the bad and ugly. Dog day afternoon. Lawrence of Arabia. 🫣
If you like Michael Bay and explosions then you should 100% watch 13 hours the secret soldiers of benghazi, such a great movie based on a true story.
