One thing I always liked about this concept was that the character himself is basically a walking corpse of organic matter, even his clothes are organic. A virus playing host to a dead man's corpse becoming self aware, pretty neat.

Basically the whole game right there. You feel like an all powerful badass until someone brings out a rocket launcher. Then you eat his friends disguise as the friend and go back to murdering and feeling like a badass. Until they send in a strike team.
It's so good to see Mercer again. I just wish they hadn't treated him so badly in p2, or they at least should've given him a proper goodbye. A fight to remember rather than a slo-mo button pressing, duck hunt of an ending.

They REALLY dropped the ball on this game with they made Prototype 2 as Alex as the bad guy, wtf? yes I get it, he IS the virus, but at least have someone close to him to take his place but be a anti hero like he was in Prototype 1 and continue it from then on.
Green Edge it is standard military quarantine procedure. neutralize any and all infected. If the epidemic is at that magnitude you do not have time to gauge whether or not a person is safe or not so you put it down ASAP.
This game might be kind of old, but this cinematic is incredible. The graphics are great. Nothing is too far fetched. They could (and should) have made a movie or some sort of film.
You know what I love about this cinematic? How when Alex runs, or jumps, or lands, the environment reacts like Alex is actually as physically dense as the game would lead you to think he is. He's not simply agile and strong despite his physique; he's actually super fucking heavy, and his body's holding a *lot* of compressed biomass, so concrete cracks when he touches down, car roofs and cargo trucks buckle, the metal bars of a sign bend under his feet when he leaps off of it...It's such a small detail, yet it's one I *love*.

And in mid air, it would make sence he put the weight in him to the feet and then toss it to the head, like a ball in a bottle. long story short even chopper can fly and it is heavy AF :D

This turns his body into a heavy hand glider with micro jets attached to him. That's how he glides. Remember, Alex can control his biomass on a cellular level in Prototype 1 and molecular level in the comics and Prototype 2 (the abomination of a game btw). So he does this even while running and dashing and fighting too. He can afford to lose a certain amount of biomass by ejecting it. His mass was around 7+ tons after consuming Elizabeth Greene. By the end of P2 he was around 15+ tons in mass with max running speed of around 440 miles per hour. Which is why p2 ending made no sense.

These soliders are humans with empathy. First moment they see someone cry for help scared running to them (even more if they are guys and she is a hot gal) they help her. But after that, logic part of mind kicks in and they realize she can be infected and most likely is. And since there is no cure, it is mercy kill, one fast bullet instead of being torn from inside by virus.
Unlike Prototype 2, the Blackwatch soldiers of Prototype 1 aren’t complete psychopaths. The soldiers cautioned her to not move rather than opening fire immediately implying some level of human compassion, however, upon dealing with the threat of an infected horde the commander made the quick decision to kill her since she could pose as a legitimate threat to his and his men’s survival if infected.
Alex Mercer. The city suffered for his mistakes. For what he did at Penn Station. And whoever that was, he's a part of me now. Because when I close my eyes I relive the memories of a thousand dead men screaming as I take their lives. What have I become? Something less than human... but also something more.
Out of all anti heroes in games, Alex Mercer is my personal favorite. All-time would be Deadpool, with Alex sitting on second place. In all seriousness, we need more games like this.

I bought my ps3 back in 2009 just for prototype and it is still with me till this day. This is my favorite game of all time it combines all the aspects that i love. An anti hero with superhuman abilities that are cool but not obnoxious like hulk and what not. Had a military vs zombies theme on a massive scale, and the best of all a very deep and very serious story. I. Still remember the excitement that i had when i first saw the opening of the scene. This is truly one of the best games of all time and i pray that someone will pick up the tab with prototype 3 . This title has a lot of potential and i hope Activision realizes it.
Totally agree on that with you. They ruined it with prototype 2, by switching characters. The best thing they could have done is make 2 stories so you could chose what path/story you wanted, if they really wanted James Heller in it. Missed opportunity there.. Hoping on a continuation of the game franchise, the concept is awesome!

When i played P1 I remember this incredieble inhuman sense of POWER. The game certainly has everything to be great. Although I feel there were some interesting unexplored themes: like Alex's identity and his place in the world. They could have played a bit with the fact that he is NOT the man he thought he was and more than a bunch of memories of other people. He's not exactly good, but shouldn't be outright evil. Not without proper motivation to be either at least. I don't like remakes much, but I hope they revive the franchise one day. TO FEEL THE POWER AGAIN!
Got this game on launch day. The first game was a real piece of work. It was original, it was fun, and the story was well made. I was just as excited for the second game but I wasn't able to get into it like I had gotten into the first. Its a shame that the series had to end where it did, as it had potential.
One of the BEST games of 2009. Such a nostalgia trip. Love those Blackwatch soldiers too, they look like a cross between Sam Fisher (those 3 eyed Nightvision goggles) and they got shades of Enclave from Fallout and Imperial Stormtroopers.
Really hope they remake this, it was excellent for its time. I can only imagine the graphics in game would finally match this cinematic, but the animations will be sooo much better #remakeprototype
That said, it actually makes sense from a quarentine standpoint: They can't be sure she isn't infected: heck, in an infection-hot zone like that, basically everyone already is anyway. There is no cure, so they can either keep her with them, and hope she doesn't turn before they get to some examination equipment (at which point there's a good 95+% chance they'll have to kill her anyway), or they can just get it over now, and not have to put their primary mission (clearing out the infected) in jeopardy because they've got her tagging along. Not saying it ain't evil, but it *does* make sense from a 'we're in the heart of the infection' standpoint.

I believe that the girl is already infected when do she runs from the zombies/infected people or got infected by the virus on the air. If you watch it carefully, in 2:12 before she got shot, she cover her hand and look like she got bite by those zombie in her hand while trying to escape.
Alex Mercer is probably the most powerful video game character to ever exist, in my opinion. Runs fast, runs up walls, super strength, killer sharp claws, can take the form of anyone he wants, take bullet and missile damage, but most of all, can regenerate from a single blood cell after a nuke blast.
Playing this game feels like fucking awesome.... We can turn into anything as showed in trailer... Amazing attacks hammer fist, diving from top.... Climbing to the edge... Unforgettable memories... It's time to take leave for office to enjoy this game... Waiting for it

Although I feel there were some interesting unexplored themes: like Alex's identity and his place in the world. They could have played a bit with the fact that he is NOT the man he thought he was and more than a bunch of memories of other people. He's not exactly good, but shouldn't be outright evil. Not without proper motivation to be either at least.
I don't like remakes much, but I hope they revive the franchise one day. TO FEEL THE POWER AGAIN!

Got this game on launch day. The first game was a real piece of work. It was original, it was fun, and the story was well made.
I was just as excited for the second game but I wasn't able to get into it like I had gotten into the first. Its a shame that the series had to end where it did, as it had potential.

Love those Blackwatch soldiers too, they look like a cross between Sam Fisher (those 3 eyed Nightvision goggles) and they got shades of Enclave from Fallout and Imperial Stormtroopers.

DK they did that just to make them seem evil.
That said, it actually makes sense from a quarentine standpoint: They can't be sure she isn't infected: heck, in an infection-hot zone like that, basically everyone already is anyway. There is no cure, so they can either keep her with them, and hope she doesn't turn before they get to some examination equipment (at which point there's a good 95+% chance they'll have to kill her anyway), or they can just get it over now, and not have to put their primary mission (clearing out the infected) in jeopardy because they've got her tagging along.
Not saying it ain't evil, but it *does* make sense from a 'we're in the heart of the infection' standpoint.
This game was pure fun! It needs a remake with a bigger budget, better writers and oh! They need to get Barry Pepper back as Alex.

I believe that the girl is already infected when do she runs from the zombies/infected people or got infected by the virus on the air. If you watch it carefully, in 2:12 before she got shot, she cover her hand and look like she got bite by those zombie in her hand while trying to escape.

Alex Mercer is probably the most powerful video game character to ever exist, in my opinion.
Runs fast, runs up walls, super strength, killer sharp claws, can take the form of anyone he wants, take bullet and missile damage, but most of all, can regenerate from a single blood cell after a nuke blast.
