A cautionary tale. Never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself.
It IS just a movie 🎬

Great acting
A warning to who exactly?
@@arkady714 the director himself has said that's the opposite of the point
Agree
“You play fair with me, I’ll play fair with you.” Despite this being a 1980s movie, this serves as a warning even now in 2024. Don’t sleep around!
Especially in today's world where people are so gun happy. I don't feel sorry for him. I feel sorry for his wife and kids.
@@sylviacarlson3561
Since when are people "so gun happy"??? 😂😂😂
How many people do you think are getting shot each year?
It's an average of 38,000
52% are Sue Is Sides
So let's say 19,000 (for easy math)
And 90% of those 19,000 are gang related.
Are you in a gang? Or affiliated with one?
That leaves 1900.
And 90% of those are when criminals get shot by either a homeowner or the cops.
That leaves 190.
(And thats being generous)
190. In a country with 400 million guns.
In a country with 350 million people.
More people break their neck falling off the bed or in the shower each year. More people drown in a 5 gallon bucket each year.
So tell me.... where are these "gun happy" people? 😂😂😂
There are over 100,000 stab wounds each year! And those are NOT done by cops.
You really need to open your eyes to the reality.
More crazy people around these days now definitely 😂
This is where the term F**k around and find out... Comes from 😂
When this movie first came out, it did for adultery what Jaws did for swimming in the ocean.
Jaws certainly had an impact on wariness in the ocean .
But this was just a scary movie .

They were both so good in this. The range of reaction on Douglas's face as he tries to gain control of the situation - the way Close is reading him as she calculates how he's reacting each step of the way....this kind of cat-and-mouse scene is excellent.
They are both such good actors/actresses
So true. Good eye.
“I won’t be ignored,Dan.”
Best line in the movie.
She was crazy, but he legit treated her like shit. It is possible to fall in love with someone over a weekend, and he could have told her no in a lighter, easier way, or not started the affair at all.
There would be no light way to say no to this. He shouldn't have slept with her, much better. But remember, she misled him more than he did. In their first meeting, what was her question: 'Are you discreet?' famous line. She said she was discreet too. She seemed calm and independent, knowing what she wanted out of that. 'We're two adults.' she goes on.
He should have gone home, okay, but both were wrong. However, he didn't mislead her. He told her he was married from the start. She misled him. It was a fun weekend, that was all. It was lust and craziness; she didn't love him. She would have displayed psychotic behaviour even if he was single.
He didn't owe her sh*t and he didn't treat her unfairly at all.

"Whole means complete. If your life's complete, why were you with me?" That is a very good question to a mystery and a paradox that we will never solve.
Simple: his ego.
Simple: sex
There is no mystery , it's simple : he is happy with his family but wouldn't mind to bang around here and there
Well bc the character seems to have narcissistic traits and a lack of empathy for his wife.
Because he likes having sex with other women. That has nothing to do with how he feels about his wife. Also, Alex is grasping at straws because she refuses to accept that he doesn't want something more.

She knew he was married so she is just as much to blame. Did he deserve to be shamed and have his name dragged through the mud, his reputation ruined, and to have his wife leave him in disgrace while taking nearly everything he had? Yes. Did his wife and daughter deserve what she did? Hell no. When I saw Gloria Trillo (one of Tony's affairs if you haven't seen the show) in The Sopranos she reminded me of this movie, particularly the scene where she takes Carmella home while her car is in the shop and drives in a way that scares Carmela on the way home. Of course, Carmella was silently enabling Tony for most of the series, so she's a little different than Beth in this movie.
@@GradKat Explain how, or else that's an assertion made without context.
Man, this movie did more for monogamy than any other.
As it should.
No it didnt tbh, it worked the opposite way. Men just started marrying these BPD type psycho hoes instead of simply hooking up then dumping them, and then cry about how they want pure virgin waifus in the last 10 years after the women they chose walked out, took their kids, home, money and everything else they got and then still get more in the court systems.

Good men don't cheat. Good men aren't insecure. They don't need the validation or the ego boost.
Nonsense. Humans are humans
There is more to that. Men need support. If the woman treats their man like an appliance, this is already asking for trouble. Classic movie!
Her voice on the cassete tape she made him to me was almost the scariest scene..." Maybe you dont even like girls, do I scare you, Dan? Boo! " It's quiet but shaky and full of rage..
I love Alex’s hair, it’s really pretty.
Yeah, she wears it REALLY well.
Funny, at the time, I was younger than 36 when I watched this film and didn't realise how young and gorgeous she looked, despite the character she played!
No F-ing way she was gorgeous. Not pretty by any measure.
@@RK831, not pretty, but quite sexy.
gorgeous? my biggest beef wasnt her acting but she looks like a man in drag.
@@RK831show us ur face than.
Baby Raindeer og lol
Every married man's worst nightmare.
One of my favorites movie
He should’ve keep IT in the pants, the bottom head can’t think
I was very promiscuous during my single years working and living in Manhattan as professional guy in his late 20's. Got it all out of my system by 38. Met a great gal in Florida at 40 and married her 5 years later. I quit while I was ahead. Best decision I ever made. Wise up guys.
Were your promiscuous days around the time this movie came out?
30 minutes of fun for a life long hook!
This is a nightmare situation
I hate how this film makes him so innocent and her the villain. He cheated on his wife. His wife also seems like such a kind sensitive soul. He jeopardises his whole marriage for one night of fun. This movie was probably made by a misogynistic man. Also i heard they changed the original ending in which Alex commits suicide. Perhaps to not make her seem in any way a victim.
To be honest I was actually on her side until she boiled the rabbit. After that I lost any empathy I had for her.
@@brandonallen3808 But why? She knew from the get go that he was married. Regardless, SHE went after HIM and not the other way around. That being said, he should still have taken his reponsability for getting her pregnant (and should not have cheated on his wife in the first place, of course).
I don't think the film really makes him innocent. Remember the policeman saying: "He made his bed and now has to lay in it."
@@brandonallen3808I Know, That Was Horrible 😢 Poor Thing. God Bless 💗🙌
ofcourse his wife had to be the Madonna for it to work.
nobody forgets the "bunny" scene!
He wants to kill his own child because it’s inconvenient. What a jerk.
Can you imagine if that baby was a Dalmatian dog?😂
Lol
Hahaha
Lmao 🤣
What??
