In this video I fix a free Powersmart self propel push mower that had a belt slip off the crankshaft pulley causing a no drive issue. I fix the belt and that fixes the self propel. In two years of use there are already signs of cracks starting to form in the deck and just an overall cheapness to the mower altogether. What do you all think about Powersmart mowers?

THANKS MUCH! I was about to give mine away and then I saw this video! WORKED! Now good for at least another week before something else on it, cheap, breaks or falls off! I don't think I'd buy one of these with more than one season in mind.

So I got a free Montgomery Ward push mower with the Briggs Pulse Jet engine. A little oil in the combustion chamber and it broke loose and runs like a top. The only plastic on it is the pull rope handle!! Even the discharge chute cover is steel. Its gotta be at least 22 years old, Wards wen out of business in 2000. This Chinese junk today won't be around as long as that old Wards! Good video!

I've had my POWERSMART 196cc RWD 22" for almost 5 years with no problems, its been a great mower. Mine is "no prime" & had one big lever for wheels. I have a huge hilly yard with lots of bumps & I do my 3 neighbors yards so its had a lot of heavy duty rough work. I got a new belt at NAPA & PS sent me one for free. That blade adapter is not to be found! So we had to use couple of bolts like on a HONDA. The plastic cover I glued & yeah GORILLA TAPE! LOL! Had to replace the belt & now drive won't disengage & drive bar floppy. You're right about getting parts but they're getting more available. Problem is they have nothing re: fixing self propel. I bought a new YARDFORCE RWD & I hate it. Its too light(85lb)& does wheelies & jumps around, also bogs down in high grass. My POWERSMART is a beast, goes thru anything easily. So it is getting repaired!

I Think It's a Case Of : You Get What You Pay For .. A Basic Mower. But It Seems To Run Well. Very Easy Fix. Well Done. Yes That Drive Cable Does Need Adjustment, She Took Off Like A Race Horse, Imagine A Older Person Running After That 😀 It Is Way Too Fast. A Good Tip, If You Are Fixing Any Mower For Customers It Is Good Practice To Put a Little Never Seize On The Blade Adapter And Crankshaft. You Never Know When It May Come Back For A Service And The Blades May Be Hard To Remove ,It Doesn't Cost Much. Also Never Throw Tools ETC on Top Of Their Mowers, Some People Can Be extremely Particular About There Equipment ,You May Damage or Scratch Paint Off & It Could Cost You Money Instead. Especially While You Are Making Videos About Repairs. Keep Up The Good Work. Cheers From Australia

You are right it is cheaply made probably the engine might last longer than the deck and plastic on it and doesn't make sense it doesn't have any belt guides

The engines on these Powersmart mowers are actually fairly decent to very good with a lot of power more power than a lot of the mowers out there and also decent gas consumption. They will mow down the biggest thickest crazy grass and weeds ever and not bog down. Thats were the good things end though and the rest of the mower besides the engine components is junk. Once you start beating on these machines and leaving old gas in it the mower wont last a year however if your not a bone head and take care of them they will last a long time for a mower thats under $200 new thats a good deal.

I did notice these engines have bigger displacements than most out there now in the residential market. They start very easily which is a plus.

Got a 21" Powersmart self propelled mower and basically it's not self-propelling 🙄, watched the vdeo and will get into it and see if I come into the same situation, hope I can get it to pull again... but yes, Powersmart cheapest mower I've ever used #SUBQUALITY
