Mine is a Troy-Bilt Pony I was mowing one time and I hit a tree root,didn't take much to hit that tree root.The front of the tractor should be able to loosen nut I tried my impact wrench it wouldn't loosen I guess they had Loctite. why I was trying to take that nut off I noticed that bent where that nut is hanging that's what I bent it back. I stacked a bunch of washers on there and it straightened it out, but what a piece of junk of a tractor I'll never buy another box store tractor I found this video very helpful to relieve some stress

I have a late 90's Murray GT with a 20 horse Briggs and love that engine. It had an oil leak around the back cover that I resealed 2-3 years ago. It's leak free now and might burn a tea cup of oil per acre, but that's it, and starts like a champ when hot. I didn't know hot start issues were a thing with opposed twins. The rest of the mower isn't so great, but that engine is the main reason I still have the mower. I take care of it. Air and oil filters are changed regularly, and I use Rotella 15W40 synthetic.

Not sure about the JB weld block repair method you deployed but appreciate the rundown on design flaws.

Ive got an lt1000 the brakes dont work at all the pins are rusted cause there was alot of dirt and junk like in this video i hope i can get them free so i dont have to replace the whole bracket

Should never have to force a sump/oil pan!!!!!

The only issue I ever have with them hard starting is, an easy carb clean and fuel pump rebuild!!!

First time I ever seen a opposition Brigga engine. I got a Stiga Villa Senetor rideable lawnmower with a Briggs 12.5 hp ic engine on and it runs great! It's Briggs 2700 series engine, from what I have heard they are among the best engines that Briggs ever made.

I completely understand you cutting your losses on the difficult to work on Briggs Opposed engine. When converting over to a single cylinder engine however, you should have put on at least a 16HP engine, to power a 42" deck. 12.5HP engines don't have enough horse power, to properly power a 42" deck in thick grass. There's a reason it had an 18HP engine to begin with, and it wasn't just for male domination bragging rights Ellis lol. I understand your frustration though, I've been through it before myself, so I get it. But you have to do your best to match the horse power of an engine, with the load you will be applying to it. The transmission alone uses up at least 5HP, so that leaves only 6.4HP to the blades.

Do u have a smaller muffler and could u just put a piece of aluminum or stainless and ribbot to the hood

Ive got a craftsman 19.5 hp i/c opposed twin briggs and stratton engine myself project im attempting to turn into a utv town driver as another transportation besides bicycle riding and as a form of advertisement for my bicycle and small engine repair service im trying to get off the ground

Yup I just replaced my belt guards and while I was in there replace the belt and the blades runs like a top now. Last week, one of my belt, gurds broke off from metal fatigue and that's exactly what happened, the belt fell off. Ended up ordering a set of them for under $20 from Amazon cured the problem. So While I was under there I just replaced everything. I've had it for almost 8 years now.I have always done my own maintenance and the thing still runs as good as new.

Grass gets packed back into area around the drive , and is often the case this material then proceads to wind itself into the V belt drive pulley grove forcing the belt to climb up off the pulley and get get thrown dispite the belt retainers , its not just an issue with Husqvarna mowers, and like you said the deck guards either need to block the grass from getting in there in the first place , or they need to put a pulley groove cleaner into there desigen so that grass cant pack itself around the pulley , its also a hard area to access so through maintance so that one can clean out that area ,, The way they intend for you to put take the belt off and put it back on is to spin the pulley off the drive units shaft by gripping the shaft with a pair of vice grips of water pump plyers so it wont turn then spinning it off counterclockwise , as this lifts the pulley above the belt guards, for people who dont allready know theres a small return spring on the drive unit that puts tension on it when you release the drive handle ensuring the drive disengages and I have found those like to disapear, the plastic idler pulley bearing also loves to sieze up ,, so make sure you check both of them when servicing the drive on these mowers..
