Video interview with keyboard player, componist and founder Tuomas Holopainen from metalband Nightwish from Finland. FaceCulture spoke with Tuomas about thinking through evidence, being a science freak, the magic of reality, the album title Endless Forms Most Beautiful, the origin of species changing in life, the American poet Walt Whitman, living life to the fullest, leaving the planet a better place, dealing with delicate and big themes, this being the least personal Nightwish album, Richard Dawkins, working with singer Floor Jansen in the recording process for the first time and a lot more! no I'm not hugging computer screen, I'm a grown up person, not fangirling over Tuomas's smile and eyes at all
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one.
mc23243 i would never do that as well ;) XD (aaaww!)
mc23243 I'm guilty as charged.
Sure you are
Why the hell are you guys criticizing the interviewer? This is one of the most interesting interviews of Tuomas ever! All the other people asked the same questions about music. I'm interested about Tuomas and his philosophy!
I love this man so damn much.
I'm happy that Jukka is doing better, and that he is still a band member. Looking forward to the Album ;p
I think this interview is one of the best with Tuomas Holopainen. And what many critics of the interviewer take for her nervousness is actually just her lack of an active English vocabulary, which is obviously not her native language.
"Floor, as a singer, is as versatile as it gets. So I didn't have to restrict myself in the songwriting" - Tuomas

Let's hope he takes full advantage of what he has now.
This interviewer did so good job with Floor, now she lil bit struggle ;) Tuomas can be a lil bit terrifying I guess. Well you try interview an genius.
I did not know there was a Floor interview as well. Thanks, I will watch that next.
She was distracted by his attractiveness :D
you dont say that someone did a very good job when he can barely speak english...
What a horrible interviewer...he said he didn't want to go into the meaning of the lyrics but she kept probing him about the meanings then started spoiling some lyrics. Wtf. Anyway, Tuomas Holopainen is a genius and a long time inspiration. I can't WAIT FOR THIS ALBUM! :>
One of the things that I have noticed, is that Tuomas is very patient with the interviewer. One of the things that I believe is happening is that she probably wrote her questions in her native language. One of the problems that she is having is, like it was said below, her english isn't that good, and she is reading her questions and having to translate them into english in her mind, then speak it. She probably should have written her questions in english and then she might have faired better.
the intervieuwer is a dutch......and in Netherlands the music is strongly evaded by mainstream. Thats the cause of the uncertain style of this woman intervieuwer
the interviewer is dreadful....
This chick just wanna go too deep! Like, in simples things. Please, don't.
the interviewer doesn´t know anything about the magic of Nightwish music. How can it be called FaceCulture if she doesn´t show her face and definitely doesn´t have metal culture.
tuomas is so unnecessarily difficult and awkward.
I don't pick that up at all and I'm puzzled how this perception even arose in some people. In fact, I thought Tuomas was extremely gracious and patient. To me, it was the interviewer who was being awkward.
The Memorgia I know what you mean, but the interviewer seems oddly antagonistic at times, I'm not sure if she has a problem with Tuomas or whether it's unintentional, since she does appear to agree with him in parts.
Perhaps because her English isn't quite as good as Tuomas' and there are some misunderstandings, lost in translation. Still, I think he comes across as a very intelligent guy and deep thinker regardless of my personal opinions of him.
