    Hi guys, here another former kung fu instructor, from Argentina. I had a similar experience to yours. My backround is nothern Shaolin and Wing Tsun. I ve made a few videos breaking down WT and Wing Chun, they have English subs. In those videos I had showed some of these matches, and despite all the evidence, the WC community keeps saying that the people who fight in the matches are not really good. To me, they are disrespecting this WC exponents, because they, at least, have the courage to put their skills to the tests. But instead of accepting the truth, most WC instructors choose to attack the messenger (me in this case) and the brave WC trainees who dare to fight. I watch both of your channels, and like em very much. I found out "EMA" recently, and right away I noticed that kung fu backround (It takes one to know one!) Greetings from Argentina 😉

    The human mind can be very deceptive and delusional sometimes! In my late teens and early twenties, I used to learn Kung Fu in my sitting room from Shaw brothers and Jackie Chan videos and do all the somersaults I have seen onscreen. I then used to feel I was pretty good and really daydream about beating up 5 or 6 bad guys in public. All I can say now is THANK LORD JESUS I never did bump into any criminals or baddies in the street! I live in London UK where people get stabbed to death just for insignificant trivial issues.
    Excellent video guys, thanks for sharing.

    Good conversation...but the one part that I am not agree on when he said Break fall is stupid. You are refering doing break falls in Sports combat..but let talk about martial art for the streets. I saw where two males had a confrontation in a parking lot with concrete pavement and eventually turn into a fight. One guy throw a punch, the other guy change level and go under the punch and double leg take down the other guy. The guy drop and fall square on his back, his head back bounce off the pavement..you could hear the loud cracking sound of his skull hitting the pavement, he was out cold. He could have a crack skull. But this is where if he had be studying break falls, he could done a back break fall, by curling his body, tuck his chin to his chest (to prevent his head from hitting the concrete), slap the ground with both palm of his hand to break the fall..and do a back roll same time and come right up on his feet to a defence position. Students at my schools being doing brake falls till now it become a muscle memory when thrown. Break falls are done many different ways whether by slapping or curling the body and roll out..........At our school, we do lot of hard throwing in our sparring, senior student don't have no problem taking those throws, because they all know how to cushion and break the falls. Now beginners are very afraid and timid to be throw because it hurts. (right so, I don't blame them because they have not master the various break falls from different angles.).........Their was a next incident, where this guy was riding his bicycle on a trail in the mountain..his bicycle front wheel stuck on a sharp stone suddenly, the sudden stop pitch him forward into the air...his training then kick in, he somersault 360 in the air and did a dive/Roll break fall and spring up back on his feet. He could have break his neck or suffer serious injury hadn't he not being training in art of break falling, it save his life , perhaps.......At a tournament one of the student at my class was sparring with taekwondo guy, he throw a high kick at our student, which he went down to the ground to counter the kick same time with a iron broom sweep and take away his standing leg. The Taekwondo guy fall hard on his shoulder blade and cry loud in pain, he remain on the ground for at least 15 minutes before doctor could revive him. He fall sideways on his shoulder, which in this case you do a side break fall by slapping the ground to act as a shock absorber to take take the impact......NOW the problem is Martial Art is being trained too much for for sport, nothing wrong with that, but it must also trained for a way of life.

    " i practiced kungfu then transitioned to * more modern* ...bla bla..."
    Mate jujutsu and muay thai ARENT MODERN . God young people talk some shit nowadays.

    • @EffectiveMartialArts
      @EffectiveMartialArts  Před 3 lety +3

      Hey Lance, sorry if this interpretation of the word offended you. By modern we are not referring to the age of the disciplines; Muay Thai, Boxing, and Wrestling are indeed ancient. We refer to modern as "focused on achieving results by constantly evolving methods", as opposed to traditional, which would be "valuing the preservation of tradition over effectiveness". We talk about this in detail with Rokas in this video:
      Will Traditional Martial Arts Go Extinct? czcams.com/video/Y7SlbvjJSho/video.html
      Please let me know if that makes sense, and leave us your comment on that one!

    Is it not amazing how this Chinese Guy ( Jerry Liu) puts down Chinese Kung Fu?
    For all you youtubers watching this CRAP. It is not the art but the person representing the art that is bad. Kung Fu is sone of the most deadly martial arts there is . BJJ MMA are simply sport. Yes a BJJ or MMA can beat a kung fu guy and vice versa, as stated above its the person and NOT THE ART...
