ha ha ha, nice one!
Raining - Bike
Sunny - Bike
Snowing - Bike
Ice - Sit in corner and cry about not being able to ride you bike. Call in work sick with severe depression.
da03da03 or take the tube for that(at most) month
You can ride on Ice just be careful. And use the rear brake. Plus tbh with global warming we never get snow/ice in the UK much anymore. Maybe once or twice a year.
AMEN TO THAT! I'm commuting on my motorbike for 20 years now. Got more stories to tell than most car drivers. Greetings and stay safe.
Been driving cars for a while now. Nothing beats a motorcycle when it comes to commuting, racing, city riding and sheer fun.
I dont have a bike, but I can agree with you on the driving a car is boring. Main reason I want a bike is because it will be fun to commute on.. It seems almost like it adds a challenge to driving.
I have an 1100 and 1000 cc supernaked bikes and I never use them for my 1 hour comute.
I drive my heated /ac'd car.
I never use them for transport.
I only ride for fun.
I don't know how anyone can say being in traffic, lane splitting and sitting at countless sets of traffic lights is fun. Especially here in summer . It was 40 degrees Celsius yesterday.
I usually do a 300 to 500 km ride once a week now. On empty twisty country roads and I also do motorcycle ride trips in other countries riding their best motorcycle roads.
But each to their own. Do what makes You Happy.
Ride safe.
This is why i love living in London and owning a bike.
From my part of london (SW19) to get upto Earls Court (SW5) takes about 35-45 minutes by car. On my bike it took me 25minutes AND i had to turn back home because i forgot my wallet.
nice and interesting video...had fun watching,,,glad u guys made it look good ;)
sitting back, listening THE PRODIGY... Michael is the best!
I love that despite a 20 minute head start, the bike was there before him.
im 19 and ride a 1955 Ariel 500cc single, ive been riding since i did my cbt at 16 and full test at 17.learnt to drive this year thinking that i would prefer the warmth/sitting down etc.7 months have passed and im going back to two wheels, permanently!you only realise how good biking is when you havent done it for a
How nice you've got the early Prodigy on the stereo!
what song on 1:57 ????? (: .
great video guys.. AND THIS IS WHY AM SCRAPING MY FOCUS AND BUYING A HARLEY VROD..THANX GUYS YOU HAVE MADE MY MIND UP ONCE AND FOR ALL
@59FIFTYMAX i ment, after i do my CBT (1 week from now), i have to wait a year to do a full license and drive 600s?
I agree, just make sure you have the right gear for the weather.
is it legal to do that "filtering" like beside cars in canada or america?? i live in canada and have never seen bikes do that..
getting a zx4 soon cant wait
what bike was that 250cc?
I need to decide within the next 3 weeks whether to get a car or a 125. I have a car I can use but would need to do my lessons and test. I currently have a moped and have been riding 11 months. I'd like a WR125 or have seen a Kawasaki D tracker 125. I commute 8 miles a day. What would you do?
Really depends, cars and bikes are completly differnt animals, if you want low running cotsts and don't mind getting a bit wet get a bike. However if you want to be dry comfortable and carry passengers get a car .
Not being able to split would certainly lose a lot of the benefit, but I find that even when I don't filter (it is legal where I live but lot of our roads are too narrow to actually do it for large parts of my journey) the better passing ability still helps by being to pass where a car would take too long to get past.
that footage in between lanes wich i guess as made on a bike, how was it made? wich camera and setup where, if possible to answear, please.
bikes rocks, but kinda sucks when you have to leave home with more than you can pack in the bike, so car is the option..
or just take what matter and what u can f the rest
I've rode a motorbike since I was 16, ( I'm nearly 19 now) I have a car licence, but never owned a car. I only have to travel a mile to work, so I hardly see any traffic, but when going a distance, with friends following in their cars, I always get there first, I can accelerate faster, and traffic doesn't exist. But when summer comes and I'm zooming along, and my friends are all roasting in their cars, I'll be smug :D
2 wheels are better than 4 wheels .
+luciu constantin its not true :)
good !that's the reason i love bike
Yeah, I think I'll take the bike; thank you very much sir!
i love it
I didn't thought of that kind of bike for commuting!
For me, what's make a good commute bike is all about its practical features. Comfy, with something to put the laptop and the rain jacket, reliable, not too large, not too low (yeah: HD aren't good for the city!)
like your style
Nice :)
what is the track name from 1:22??
The man with his feet up reminds me so much of Nick Frost =P
Good video, a bike a will always be better for 'commuting' because it's MUCH better than even crappy diesel cars and you can go in and out of traffic..
I prefer walking as my commute is 200 meters ;)
When im a wee bit older I will probably get a car, but right now as im still a young man, its biking time!
The nice 'calm' atmosphere of his car & his music, didn't really help him in the long run now did it? ^^ Bikes ftw.
Nice choice of music bro, with some Prodigy.
what kind of ninja is that? the 650r?
Really 144p?
Have you seen the upload date! This video is 10 years old!!
2007....
Im in the UK too and yeah.. WOW the rain the other day, my god its was horrible
nice combover
Good question, depends on whether you ask that question on an individual level, or as a city/ country/ society. because ''better'' commuting is basically getting everyone where they need to go, in the same narrow period of time, more efficiently and safely.
Allowing bikes to weave and encouraging drivers to respect that; to just be more tolerant and aware that there may be someone filtering, it allows the bikes to get out of the way and allows other vehicles to occupy their space in the que!
@59FIFTYMAX in what country?
not really with decent gear rain becomes a non-issue. Cold is more of a issue but even that becomes a non-issue once u gear up.
is lane splitting legal in england?
@droceretik HAHAHAHAAA that was funny dude. thanks for a laugh at a long day of work
what's the song at 1:55??
motorcycle wins all day . Even on my racing push bike i beat my friend who got stuck in traffic to the town centre lmao
No car does have you drove a GTR handles like a champ
@@rome5628 I haven't but I don't need to . You've gotta use common sense. Out here on the streets , bikes win all day . Maybe even track as well
@@rome5628 how does that handling help you in traffic?
is it legal in england to split traffic like that on a bike?
Prodigy
Nice M3!!
I live in Los Angeles where the weather is perfect most of the time, so I've got to say I respect you British riders. You must deal with a lot of shitty weather, or at least rain.
I swear, it gets a little cloudy around here and 99% of the bikes get off the road-- it's pathetic, lol.
You're allowed to lane-split where you live?
BTW, awesome Prodigy song.
Nice M3!
Me being only 17 I can’t afford a car so I use my yzf r125 to get to college every day and most of the time I love it but there are those odd occasions when it’s in winter it snowing, dark, wet and if I move my hands its agony. Those are the times which a car sounds appealing.
Riding a bike in the winter isn't that bad these days with heated gear ride a bike all year round have no problems with it 😄
Like me, I ride all year, don't use heated gear, just a jacket proper for the cold and rain as the trousers, boots and gloves, one thing is for sure I don't get any cold or water inside.
@G00g284. No, once you do your CBT you can do your full license whenever you like. But from the date you pass your full license is when the year starts counting down before you can do your heavy motorcycle test.
Motorbike is not only faster, but its just more fun. Nothing really to argue about.
i like it
I commute on my motorcycles, unless the weather is horrid. Luckily, I've got a short 10 minute commute. This time difference definitely applies to going anywhere in SoCal, though. What will sometimes take 2-3 hours to get into LA from the OC, only takes about an hour on the motorcycle. It sucks that we don't have nationwide lane-splitting laws. There is no good reason to keep motorcycles stuck in stand-still traffic, overheating and wasting space in a traffic jam.
what about malta that drive on the left
motorcycle: Performance, FUN, Handling, Manly
car: Comfortable
i use both... motorcycle in spare time for cruising and enjoying life and car to get to work early in the morning and when going out with friends in the city
@G00g284 at 17 or over you can do your full test and ride any cc but has to be restricted or already under 33hp, this is for 2 years (or until your 21) then ride any hp bike you want. If u pass your test when your 21 or over the restriction doesnt apply.
Well done boys .......... Bikes all the way !!
it depends on the weather for me.
I listen to music when i ride and i can still hear whats going on around me. When im traveling in rain, night or and unknown location where i have to use a gps, i would much rather prefer my car.
I would agree that bike is more for fun and short commuting.
is that a leather jacket he (motorcycle rider) has on or is it some mesh? i want to know what jacket is. antyone know?
@whitbyjet65 yep, I am in the minority and you defiantly need the right bike to do it. But once you start and get some decent gear, it really isn't as bad as everyone seems to think.
But your absolutely right that most bike owners treat them as weekend toys, bit of a shame really, more bikes on the road, more space and hopefully less jams for everyone.
@PanteraRocha1 they drive on the left side of the road in some parts of america as well.
depends on traffic situation. cars would definately waste more time and fuel than motorcycle. also cumborsome if car is not automatic.
After sitting in traffic every morning I decided to ride in. Bought a brand new TMAX and within a month got knocked off and broke my foot!!!!!! Taken a year to get right again and consider myself very lucky. I now drive during the week and have kept my R1 for pleasure. Dont ride in heavy traffic, it's only a matter of time before you get knocked off and maybe killed.
while,i can see NO real benefits to driving a cage, and i havent even got to the subject of enjoyment, freedom, and the fact that bikers are the friendliest people you could meet.great vid!
I am a fairly new rider and at 42 I approached it with trepidation. However I have become a little addicted now, and much prefer the bike to the car. I ride it daily for my short commute to work (7 miles each way).
My recomendation for new starters would be to start in winter and that way you get the worst bit out of the way (I started this Nov 2011). If you enjoy THAT then your laughing. It also gives you a very cautious start so you don't go too stupid too soon.
Ride Safe folks.
@rydhwan im like you ive done 2 years on 600 k6 without incindent but an accident can be waiting for you at any time.. cars dont wach out for bikes i know this cause i drive a car and whenever i pull out of a road im never thinking "bike" so i know there must be more like that, bottom line its VERY dangerous riding motorbikes :/ doesent put me off having on though
@MrDLColeman i couldn't agree more, in a way i'm the opposite end of the scale to you as i'm only 18 and i got my bike just before my 18th birthday. Starting riding in february (2011) i think was good as like you say it means you start in the least bike friendly time of year which means you don't go crazy :)
I have a Bike and a car and in having both choices I'd say they'd come up about the same (apart from being rained on) because here in Australia lane splitting (filtering) is illegal.
i'm going to get a bike some time this year hopefully start on a 125... nice n easy. but our roads in england are so tight..usa, canada etc nice wide open roads to ride. looks dodgy in london.
@Irokusaikaro May be partially true at full lock,(depends on which car and which bike it is, and whos driving. Bikes are harder to brake optimal with.) but not at normal braking and speed changes. The point is that a car uses several seconds to reach its march speed again after every speed limit change and turn that slows it down. A bike is mostly up and going again after less than one second. So its average speed will be close to its top speed. A car will be much slower, increasing w/distance.
Motorcycle for sure!!
Bloomberg wanted this in NYC. Didn't fly (yet). Hope they realize motorcycles are better for the city too.
A small motorcycle is the best way to commute, unless it rains or is really cold. You use much less gas, and even if you keep the speed limit you get there faster because a motorcycle brakes and accellerates much faster than a car and thereby keeps a much higher average speed.
Clearly a small bike is in order when there's so much traffic. xD
(Love from your Aussie 1200cc-riding fellow bike enthusiast. :D )
As he said a motorbikes free to park. They can skip traffic which is fun to piss off drivers :) Cheaper to tax, generally cheaper to insure, cheaper to buy. For example I think a brand new ZX-10R costs around £10,000. For that you can get a vauxhall (Opel) Corsa, with yes a bigger engine but the speed is well down compared the bike. Say 110mph in the Corsa IF you really push it, the ZX-10 will nicely sit that in 3rd gear. The ONLY downside of a bike is the weather, but you can buy gear for it.
@09bikerman1 I realized after I posted my comment that in many countries the practice we call "lane splitting" is called "filtering". If I sounded ethnocentric by using my familiar term, then I apologize.
I'm a motorcyclist, a mountaineer, a rock climber and a scuba diver, I understand and accept risk when there is sufficient benefit to justify it.
The question is how one defines "better commute"? If it's sacrificing safety for time, and gas savings, then filter with a motorcycle.
@mrblink1823 Yes. I believe the guidance is that provided that the traffic is not moving above a certain speed (I believe 30mph, although that seems a bit quick) and you're not allowed to do it at more than 20mph above the speed the traffic is moving at. So - if the traffic is stationary, you can lane split at 20mph I believe.
A motorcycle is best. All the advantages of a car (except shelter) on the open road and a bicycle in busy traffic
woah was that the 08 kawasaki ninja 250r i love that bike im gonna get one when in 16 or 17 (15 right now)
I no its been well nice, the sun came out of nowhere lol
@PanteraRocha1 that's true as well, but I was referring to the U.S. Virgin Islands where they can legally drive on the wrong side of the road
OMG!! i miss england
Iv'e got a 2007 BMW 318i, and a yamaha wr 125 . . . I would choose to ride my motorbike anyday! it's abit wet sometimes but you don't really care when your'e on a bike, especially when traffic is no obstacle. Cars are really, really, really boring! Iv'e got my bike test on wednesday and when i pass will be getting a street triple, and saying bye bye to my car :)
right which is usually why you see people only lane-split when they're at a stop light. since everyone is stopped which poses less of a threat of people cutting in front of you. heck...my dad sometimes lane-splits on his Harley!!!
Which is better? Depends. Can you ride all year long comfortably? Can your car get the same MPG?
If you live in London, get a bike for everyday commuting and join a car club like zipcar for the days where you need a car, you dont need to worry about insurance or gas for the car.
I cant wait to get a bike
well splitting the lane is illegal in Michigan it depends on the state (for USA) and depends on the country
zx6r, 2005 was the first year for underseat exhaust
Free Parking, Traffic Never a problem, a 30 min commute and £10 a week on petrol (25miles a day) - i can deal with most weather using thicker gear / heated grips - Heavy snow does make it rather interesting tho :s
On the other hand a car would take me an hour and £10 a day just to park it.
Bike all the way for me
Americans (not inc. CA) is it still worth having a bike if you can't filter?
when insurance chills out a bit for me (21 yrs old lol) ill be doing that- keeping both vehicles with much lower mileage!
i own both but id much rather do it on a bike ofcourse depending on weather
Oh how I wish I could lane split where I live in Canada. would cut my commute in half.
