    I have a few questions sorry for my grammar im dyslexic so here goes, i'm just starting archery my coach says i need my bow arm in line with my shoulder to reduce pressure but when i go to take a shot looking through the sight ring my arm is at 1 o clock not 12 as it was in line with my shoulder.2 because im shooting at 1 o clock my shoulder some times is sore is this due to the wrong shooting line or is it due to lack of shoulder strength ?? 3 all so my coach says i need my pull back to the centre of my chin and rest on my nose but it seems that im resting the bow string on my chin and moving my head down to touch my nose can you give me some tips on how to remedy these problems any reply would be grateful fingers crossed as its a 15 month old clip

    • @electoplater
      @electoplater Před 6 lety +1

      dont worry everyone has to adapt the said archery style to their own body and FACE SHAPE if you draw the string to the centre of your chin the string will not touch your nose you have to position your head in the set so it does the current russian world champion string never touches her nose so dont worry you will find your own style

    • @mocknugget

      Jalmar Verbraak
      You should be doing that with a clicker as well!
      Many archers seem to think the clicker dropping is the point to release at but it's only an indicator of draw length and you should only release when everything else is right too.
      It's an indicator not a trigger!
      If the clicker drops but nothing else is right, come down, relax a moment, and begin the shot process again.

      for following through

    • @renatugaming5730
      @renatugaming5730 Před 3 lety

      Consistency which goes to accuracy increasing and arrow flight can be compensated when you have a terrible follow through. If you fling your arms in the air you might be changing string position. Remember this: nocks of arrows are like rudders on a ship, it takes a small rudder to steer a ship. It takes a small amount of movement to change arrow flight. Hope this explained the follow through better and sorry your comment wasn't answered for 3 months..

    Title: how to shoot a recurve bow. Video: How to shoot an Olympic bow

    • @DeHeld8
      @DeHeld8 Před 3 lety +6

      The thing is, "recurve bow" is shorthand for "Olympic recurve bow". It's unfortunate that World Archery is focused pretty much exclusively on compound bow and olympic recurve bow archery. They are so desperate to be taken "serious". I'd take a bend wooden stick over all that aluminium and fiberglass any day. It's so sad to see that World Archery doesn't seem to have time for the ancient art.

    • @DeHeld8
      @DeHeld8 Před 3 lety +3

      @@manabellum Maybe this the fact that there is no "standard" in traditional archery points to the fact that enforcing some kind of international standerd of modern archery is problematic. To me olympic re-curve archery is rather Euro-centrist in it's style. It uses medeteranian grip, the string is drawn no further then the chin/cheek etc. Has Europe not already forced it's traditions on the world enough under the guise of "officialdom"?

      just because the follow through motion isn't forward/the same direction as the object (like most cases of following through in sports) doesn't mean you can't follow through. think of following through as appropriately completing the action for max efficiency and/or to ensure the desired goal is achieved. it's just good, proper form, and stuff like this should be the same way every time, even the very last part of the motion that might seem negligible to some

    "After she has gotten her posture"...
    You don't say how she does this or even show what correct posture is.
    Correct posture is the basis of every shot and if it's not right then the shot will not be right.
    Even the action of standing correctly is something that has to be explained in detail and practised again and again to get right.
    Posture has to be right before you even think of fitting an arrow to the bow or the whole shot is doomed to inconstancy.

      Take off the training wheels and watch the fun begin. Archery is not one of the greatest 10 ten inventions of man kind to be used with training wheels
      The bow is as limitless as the wheel and you are only holding it back with static targets and stances in this category. Archery has always been dynamic not static.

    recurve bows are a con my 7-year-old grandson can hit a target with one the traditional longbow is the only true bow.

      Stop making silly comparison like that. Your 7 year old wouldn't be able to draw long bows or recurve with any ease.
      What next compound over crossbow.
      You can shoot with more than one type you know.

    Holding that long, makes it muscles tense, which makes your shot inaccurate. Never draw for more than 2 seconds, ur accuracy will suck

    Very shallow. Recurve archery is much more refined than this. Sorry. However I like the slow and presice way, the video performs.

      Compound bows are far more mechanical and complex. The recurve is what you are seeing on screen. If you would have seen the many videos from archers like Chris Bee then you would have a feeling on what a compound is.

      Welcome to archery, consistency leads to accuracy so doing the same thing over and over again leads to hitting the bullseye at 70,90 meters.
