    My doors were locked and I had a failed MOT, completing this I fixed it myself. The garage wanted £600 plus to 'repair' the fix. Actually what they wanted to do is replace the actuators (£175 plus vat per unit). This is fiddly but achievable and anyone with some mechanical knowledge would be able to complete this fix. Thank you for submitting this utube video!!!!

      how many of your doors were locked...and can you really fail an MOT for that. I thought MOT is about road worthiness and mechanics of the car not that...do tell?

    Very useful video, I had the same door fail on mine, I managed to get the door panel off without removing the seat, but broke half of the clips. I left the loom unplugged so I could manually operate the door temporarily. I haven't changed the actuator yet, but your video has made me confident to do it this weekend. Cheers :)

    Thank you so much for this video, it saved me a lot of time and money! I wouldn't have been able to make it without it, I'm so glad you did it! I managed to remove the actuator and to fix the motor, it was just jammed. Thanks again, you made my day!

    That is a very good, detailed explanation, thank you.
    I have the front passenger door deadlocked (this time, last it was the rear!) not long after replacing the inner steel panel/winder mechanism. Your video has shown me that there is a way to access the door internals from inside the car with the door closed, so if thumping the door using the key fails, I know I can get in.
    Other folk new to this problem might not know that the actuator mechanism can only be removed by undoing the two star bolts which are hidden when the door is closed, so it is important to somehow get the door open so you can replace the mechanism.
    If tapping with the hammer trick doesn't work, I'll start destroying the mechanism with a drill!!!!
    These door and latch problems are the one big drawback of a very dependable car.

  • @good_username_taken5069

    Why didn't I search the problem in English sooner, this would have saved so much time!
    I went with the way to manually power the actuator longer than the car usually would, in the hopes that would get it to break loose. Might have been a bit too high of a voltage as well which ended up killing the actuator, so that I can't do this trick now. I guess it's time to break through the plastic, unlocking it that way.
    I know this video is 8 years old, but it's great that these kinds of videos exist!

    when i had the same problem i just took out the line from the outside door handle. you pull it like you want to open it and hold in this position. from the side you will see a line with a small pin. you take a flat screwdriver and pull it out of its nest. thats it.. after you open the door you put it back but 1mm closer to the door side since its adjustable. by that you can adjust when the doors will open when you pull the handle. no need to open the door from inside.

    OKAY GUYS! I WAS RUNNING LOW ON GAS, NEW YEARS DAY HOLIDAY, EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED INCLUDING MY DEALERSHIP. WATCHED THESE VIDEOS. I HAVE A VW TIGUAN, 3 YEARS OLD AND COULD NOT GET IN THROUGH THE TRUNK.
    FIGURED OUT TO USE AN OLD WOODEN CLOTHES PIN, BROKE IT APART AND USED THE TAPERED END TO PRY THE GAS TANK LID OPEN. ANYTHING METAL WOULD HAVE SCRATCHED THE FINISH AROUND THE LID. COOKING OIL ON THE HINGE.
    THE HINGE WAS STUCK. NOW I JUST CARRY MY CLOTHES PIN IN MY GLOVE COMPARTMENT TO PRY THE GAS TANK LID OPEN IF IT EVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
    THANKS OODLES GUYS! YOUR SUGGESTIONS SAVE ME A BIG PAYOUT TO THE DEALERSHIP.

    Instead of remove the panel, u could pull the handle on inside and awile the handle is pulled press the unlock botton on the remote. I had that issue and that was the way that I open the door

    hi mate , thanks for the video , my right passenger door is in deadlock aswell , i might attempt this in the next days , hope i don't f*** something up, and pray like i never did before for the deadlock to release . Btw how long did it take for you to hit the actuator till de deadlock released 5-10 mins?

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Před 8 lety

      +Mercuryxpc Hi mate I hope its not to much of a headache, to be honest as soon as I started hitting the actuator it started to make so kind of noise and you must carry on till it opens properly but I would say the hole hitting process took me 5 mins.

    You can open the door using that method, pressing the open button on the remote and trying to open the door from the inside, if you di this for a few seconds the door will open. If works for me every time

      +Tuentin Qarantino Oh no thats a pain, try hitting the door while pressing the unlock button you might be lucky and once open then just change the actuators, so worth having the actuators beforehand.

      I got the same issue. The rear passenger door is locked. The door handle from outside is free. I have Pasat TDI car. How much it costed you.

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Před 7 lety

      The actuator wasn't really that expensive, I think may be 45 pounds, the rest I did my self, that is a very laborious work, but with time and patients it can be done.

    • @azeemmalik7928
      @azeemmalik7928 Před 7 lety

      Thanks for your response.
      My door handle from outside is loose- so can't open from outside.
      Further, When I took my car to mechanic, he opened the door from inside, then twisted black thing on the inside edge of the door and then closed the door.
      From that day till today, the door got permanently locked.
      From local market (Cardiff), I am getting door in £50.
      But the task is
      - How to open a closed door.
      - Should change the door or get the handle repair
      I not want to do myself as You know that its very laborious.

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Před 7 lety

      Well once you dismantle the inside panel you'll have to open it by pulling the inside cable while pressing on the remote and hitting the actuator, they are a pain but I hope you get it sorted.

    The part i needed to see was how to remove the pop rivets holding the window in!
    Anyone can tell me??

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Před 6 lety

      Hi and sorry about that since my door was locked I could hardly even film anything but basically there is a hole where you can slide something like a round ended chisel, and push the little white center pin that hold the window, I had to hammer it a little and it falls to the back you can pick it up later. Hope the info helps a little.

    Why do you have to remove the glass pin? Can't just leave it up?

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Před 4 lety +1

      pet 123456789 from what I remember the metal panel is attached to the window mechanism which is attached to the glass so if you don’t release the glass then you can’t remove the pannel. I don’t have this car anymore but that what I remember.

    I initially couldn't figure out how to push the plastic pin out? Either what I used to push it out went through the pin, or it didnt budge. Without that step, this otherwise good video is useless. So, I used a large Phillips Screwdriver and hit it with a hammer. That did it.

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  Před 3 lety

      Am glad you did it well done, sorry the video is useless for you. I wasn’t gonna make a video at all but though it might help. Anyway all the best. The actuator is held in by some torxs screws as far as I remember, I sold this car years ago so I can really help with that anymore..
