  • Lots going on in this episode. I'll be unboxing two Axial SCX24 1967 Chevrolet C10s. I really like these micro crawlers that Axial has come out with and the C10 is my favorite of the SCX24 bodies they've offered so far.
    Once the unboxing is done, I show how they handle on my micro crawler course I'm unveiling for the first time on video here. It's not done, but it was usable for the testing purposes. Hope you enjoy it.

    I bought a SCX24 years ago. I probably drove it 10 minutes and then put it on the shelf. The charger that comes with it is more of a fire hazard than anything else. I always recommend using a proper balance charger.

    I just bought the blue c10, it is amazing how much cooler it looks in person. But the tires rubbing on the body was to much for me . So I took some of the wheel wells out with my dremel tool and a light abrasive cylender bit . And what a difference In performance and it looks even better. I took off the chrome plastic front bumper and put on a aluminum black with the red anodized tow shackles that made a big difference in the ability for the tires to hit the rocks a bit more easily, instead of the bumper being in the way . Also made it look even more amassing. My grandkids and I set up a nice course out in the backyard and have so much fun . Even my 4 year old makes it around a fairly tough course without tuning over, Once in while . He gets so excited my 7 year old makes it quite often without a crash . I had to buy two more lol .

    I have a scx24 Jeep and I put o ring on the shock to act as a spacer between the spring and shock body because the body rubbed a bit on the fenders also . I also relocated the top shock position to bolt holes on the frame instead of the shock perch and it climbs so much better. Wheel weights make so much of a difference they are definitely worth getting .

    With these trucks back in stock, I have the green one coming today! Jeep still on the way. I observed your comment about the body rubbing the tires and plan to do a mod I saw elsewhere on CZcams where they just raise the body by raising the front body posts and lowering the rear body mounting bracket. It looked to work really well, and I like it because, as opposed to a full lift, it only raises the body which has a lighter mass than lifting the whole chassis.

    I like your addition of the "creek" to the course. I was thinking that on the next build (or my own) rather than simply painting the depression in the course blue to represent water, you could instead add a resin inlay like some table builds have on here. I think it might look a little more realistic (you could even mold in some tiny fish), and the slickness of the resin might simulate the reduced traction of water. Anyway, just thinking out loud.

    Looks great so does your track. Would love to pick one up but as an extrovert I don't like doing this stuff by myself. No one around me is into RC. An option for traction is to sprinkle sand as you were saying but instead of glue maybe spray the spots after you put the sand down with clear coat paint? Get a clear matte finish. You would not have to put the sand everywhere just on the places when your tire is sliding off the edge

    U mentioned hobby town indoor? My hobby town has a race track called Thunder rc i think. I went there yesterday and ran my rustler 4x4 vxl lol. Gonna get me one of these little things from them to go on their rock place.

    Here is the problem with this body style, and I am confused how they got it licensed. C-10 meant 2wheel drive. The 4x4 had the K-10 designation.

      While true as that statement is the body panels from c10 to k30 will interchange from 67-72 most people don’t realize that’s how gm designates the 2wd models from the 4x4 is the c and k in the vin if they called it a k10 it would cause more confusion. That and gm shot them selves in the foot with the k5 blazer as it’s still a k5 in 2wd or 4x4 model

    I had a losi micro crawler and it was nice and I got loads of upgrades but the one thing the didnt have was a good looking body. So I ordered a 24th scale model kit of a 1980 chevy plow truck and painted it flake purple and I loved it. But the body weighed more than the whole rig so I sold it. This c10 is making me go nuts I want it so bad.

    Very cool! With the body rub would you trim plastic or is there a way to space the body up a bit???? JW I thinking about getting one or horizon makes a crawl for about the same price but is more of a rock crawler buggy look can’t remember the name think it’s 1/18th scale

    What you could do is put down some spray adhesive and throw some sand down on the course for added grip.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 4 lety

      My only worry about that is that the adhesive will attract a lot of dust and things too.

    • @CCxRC
      @CCxRC  Před 4 lety +1

      maybe a clear coat over it.

    • @harlondavid1225

    Spray the hill with bedliner... that way it will give your tires some grip.
