Henry All day Every day. More complete player really world class
Shearer for me still love henry though
as a massive toon fan, I was always worried that Thierry could beat the record if he stayed in the PL long enough. But as he didn't, Shearer makes it as best PL goalscorer, through consistency. As he did exceptional and was for a good 10 seasons, probably more. But Thierry is probably a better player.
*best* is subjective.
However...
Henry has a better game to goal ratio, a better minutes to goal ratio, more assists and more golden boots. He IS the better player, there is no *probably* about it
@@guyverjay1289 I mean when youre playing in a better team it's easier to score more goals, so I think with that taken into account it's hard to compare properly.
@@jakeyb9386 - fair enough, it should also be noted though that 56 (out of 67 taken, missing 11) of shearers prem goals came from the spot compared to Henrys 23 ( out of 25 taken, missing 2).
😂 guy said probably what a tool
Hands down Thierry Henry no debate here. All Shearer's case is more goals, he played 187 more games than Henry (albeit he missed the best part of 2 and a half seasons through injury) and he only scored 86 more goals.
Henry had a higher goal average of 0.68 per game, let's say he plays the same amount of games as shearer he's scoring 302 goals. Plus his assist average of 0.3 per game gives him an additonal 137 assists. Giving him 439 goal contributions in 441 games. 0.995 Goals/Assists per game across a 14-year career give or take obvious down years and drop in form.
Let's even say Shearer doesn't get injured and scores his prem average of 23 goals per season (average in season's which he's played 30 games or more) 23 x 2 is 46 + 260 is 306 goals. Shearer also had 23 career premier league assists giving him an average of 0.05 per game. Meaning it would take him 20 games to get one assist whereas Henry would have six across that same span mathematically.
Henry > Shearer
Great work. The only caveat I would add is Henry was only here for his prime. If you compared their 3/4/5 best seasons you may get a closer result. Henry also had a better supporting cast for the unquantifiable amount that's worth. I still do go with Henry though.
Shearer’s premier league goals per game ratio before he got his knee injury at Newcastle was 0.81 goals per game. To me Shearer is the greatest premier league striker of all time. Henry never suffered from the potentially career ending injuries Shearer did. Shearer also didn’t have the team around him that Henry did. I would have 1. Shearer 2. Henry 3. (Possibly) Aguero. Each to their own though I think you make a valid point and you have backed up your argument with stats though.
I think your just overlooking past I think it was 2 acl injury’s, there are career ending injury’s and shearer had 2. Shearer also spent his time at Southampton not in the premier league so I think he if you were to add on those goals he would be over 300 or very close. Shearer also played in worse teams than Henry meaning Henry will get more chances. Henry has world class players around him pires, viera, overmars, bergkamp the list goes on. Shearer played with good players but I don’t know if any would be world class.
I believe Henry is the better player as he could play winger, cf, and 10 but not the better striker. If I had to start a new team and either Henry or shearer is going to be my striker I’m taking shearer as he scores goals efficiently at his peak.
Also if you look at Henry’s league career goals per game ratio it is lower than Shearer’s career goals per game ratio.
@@LukePettit henry didn't join in his prime, and your saying it like shearer wasn't here in his prime he was here for his entire career
I've listened to ths twice and I'm still not entirely sure what the guy opposite Darren Bent is on about lol
Henry played along side bergkamp, piers, vieira etc. shearer played along side, shola ameobi, Kieron dyer and Jermaine jenas …. MASSIVE DIFFERENCE
To have the record that shearer has while playing for a team that was consistantly mid table, while Henry was in a stellar team with Arsenal with a brillaint manager in Arsene Wenger makes me really respect Shearer as a player even more
And his record. He came back after multiple career ending surgeries, and still got 20 plus goals a season most seasons at a mid table team like you say. Imagine he didn’t have those injuries, and was at say.. united. He would be 50+ goals clear.
Newcastle were 2nd the yr Shearer came to the club. Also, Wenger won nothing for 7 years after Henry left & never won a league
Henry dragged a quite frankly dire Arsenal team to the Champions league final in 2006 and if not for having to play with ten men for most of it...could have won it.
The problem with comparing goals per game ratio was that Henry was in his prime the whole time, if he stayed at arsenal until he retired his goal scoring would have slowed down like Shearer's did, not to mention Shearers serious injuries.
Hypotheticals.
@@Xani41Henry’s career goals per game ratio was lower than Shearer’s.
@@Lualua25able not in the PL
@@Xani41 So do you think the MLS is a higher level than the Premier League 🤣.
Henry was not in his prime the whole time his first season he was a winger being converted to a striker did not have the greatest first season either
I’ll put it to you this way, I’ve seen every type of all time premier league best XI teams and in every single variation of those teams the only name that is *never* missing is Henry.
It's tough as they're different players. Both have similar goals to games over their careers. Although Henry was the better play maker.
Shearer at his prime was better, but sadly had career changing injuries so couldn't sustain it.
Henry in his prime was the best player the premier League has ever seen no question.
All he’s got for Shearer is got more goals 😴, no shit he played nearly 190 games more. Henry has a better goal to game ratio if we’re talking goal scoring. Despite the appearance difference, Henry still has more assists 😭. Henry better goal scorer and better player. Done.
Aguero has better goals per game record and more titles. Discussion over 😏
Aguero can't lace henrys boots
@@Trudon better goals per game record and better finisher. FACT 👍
@@singingthebluestv so? He's not better than henry
@@Trudon in my opinion he is. Henry at barca was average.. He looked incredible for arsenal but even for France he was standard.. Aguero if he went to any other league he would tear it up.. More consistent too.. Every single year he's been in the league he's scored 20 or more foals and even with several injuries he has been city's main man for goals.. Including iconic goals which won titles.. Henry was better at other stuff like trickery and pace out wide but aguero for a striker is lethal and has the best goal to game record in the history of the league
Great debate
Shearer because even with a much weaker team and with injuries that sits him out for a season, he still scores and perform
Am a Liverpool fan and honestly think Henry was the best player to grace the league. It's frightening to think what we'd be like with him instead of Firmino 😯😬 Shearer got you goals, but Henry could link, had insane technique and could create goals for others with ingenious pieces of invention that others wouldn't even dream of as well as being able to beat 4 or 5 defenders in the blink of an eye on his own
And a good handball cheat too
shearer the better goalscorer. henry the better player by a distance.
Alan shearer better goal scorer. Henry better all round. Done
shearer scored more goals coz he played more seasons. Henry was a technical level above shearer. still holds assist records, more golden boots, won european golden boot.
Henry’s goal scoring rate would have slowed down, like Shearer’s did. If you look at Henry’s league career his goals per game ratio is less than Shearer’s.
Shearer all day 🙋♂️
I love how both daren and Goldstein went long way with thia debate hhhh
henry played with much better players so had an advantage
The reason why he played with much better players is because he was a world class player, he’s hardly going to play for Crystal Palace is he 😂 Shearer has a chance to go to united but chose Newcastle instead
@@daviddavidyupjones306 yes I know that?
I never said any of what you have just wrote haha!
all I meant is comparing all these statics in the video isn't balanced, as henry would off had a better chance to score more goals/assists because he was playing with a far greater team then shearer who chose to stay at Newcastle. what's your point?
both great players
shearer would of had much more goals then he already had if he moved to man united but loved his boyhood club.
They r both great players. And if i picked an all time greatest premier leaue 11 those 2 wud be my 2 strikers. Henry is the greatest player ive seen in the premier league and shearer is the greatest goalscorer ive seen in the premier league. Simple as that.
HUGE fan of both. Except I hated Henry while he was playing.
I've never seen a more dominant player in the premiership than Henry. And since he left they haven't won anything meaningful. He was Suarez's best two seasons at Liverpool for triple the time.
Shearer was Harry Kane for triple the time. They consistently score every type of goal without being fast, playing for a sub-par team (Kane's Spurs are better than Shearer's Newcastle were). It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had gone to Man Utd instead of Newcastle. I'm so glad he didn't.
While I think about it, Kane is in danger of ending up the same way as Shearer and Gerrard.
I always give the edge to Henry, but they are the 2 best attacking players to have had 4+ incredible seasons in the premiership (with a heavy nod to Sergio).
Henry is also the only player I've heard a retired John Terry say he was wary of.
Gerrard has a Champion’s League, they’re not the same. At all.
Both players were different type of strikers, so the comparison doesn't make sense. Shearer was an out and out striker, while Henry operated both as a winger & striker.
Shearer should be compared with the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Michael Owen, Robin Van Persie, Robbie Fowler, Andy Cole, Solskjaer, Dwight Yorke and many more out and out strikers.
Henry was a unique Premier League player in early 2000s. His role and playing style was a revolution in the Premier League. He is in the category of Wayne Rooney & Cristiano Ronaldo.
What also needs to be put into context is the teams that they both played for. Henry played for Arsenal a title favourite team (most of his time there) whereas Shearer played for Newcastle for most of his career. Its harder to score for a lesser team than a better team. That being said Henry was the better striker.
What about Shearers goal against Chelsea with Marcel Desaily on his back
I think henry is much better than shearer hands down.
Shearer all day but loved Henry.. greatest striker i.e.. goal scorer then it is Shearer. Henry probably better attacker all round but Shearer was all over the park at times doing the hard work, defending like a warrior at times in mediocre Newcastle teams. Henry had a much easier ride playing in one of the best sides in PL history for years
Its not even close Thierry Henry is goat of the prem
Shearer won the League with Blackburn and Scored Hundred of goals with Newcastle which at times had average teams. Henry played in the invincibles and had the best arsenal team available. Shearer for me is way better.
Shearer was a goal machine and very Underrated
If Shearer hadn't been injured so badly twice in his career, I'd argue his goal per game ratio would be higher. Also, if he had played for a team full of stars that was consistently challenging for the title like Henry, his goal tally would be insane. As it is, he played for NUFC and, one season aside, only ever really challenged for top 4, and that was probably only for half the seasons he was at Newcastle.
That said, I'd pick Henry. What a player! And I'm a Geordie.
If you’re a Geordie then that’s blasphemy.
The thing is if shearer gets the ball in a scoring position 9.5/10 times its going in
Got to say really like Darren bent
Not even a debate! Alan Shearer is the great PL striker of all time! There is no debate.
Henry is one of the best baller of all time and still an elite goalscorer.
How is that even a question?
Henry 🙌🏾
As a Newcastle fan Henry is better
Henry is the best player of all time in premier league
Not Striker tho.
SERGIO AGUEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Henry has a better game to goal ratio, a better minutes to goal ratio, more assists and more golden boots.
I agree with bent
We don’t build Statues for no reason !!
👑King Henry 🏅🏆🥇
Shearer has a statue
Shearers huge statue stands alongside Sir Bobby's..
If you put Henry in that Blackburn and Newcastle team, can he do what Shearer did?
Henry👇
Henry played two champions league finals better player than Shearer
Henry easily
If shearer had went to Man united instead of coming to the toon we wouldn’t even be having this discussion, what shearer did with a bang average Newcastle side isn’t short of amazing. Shearer wasn’t flashy or anything but he was a scoring machine.
But he didn’t.
Shearer missed a total of three seasons with injuries.... He would without doubt have surpassed 300 goals..
henry played out on the wing, more games aswell. This is a stupi argument. Goals to game ratio is the best metric to use and even then henry played on the wing early on.
Shearer every time amazing player
Henry was great player but arsenal had a great team full of talent ,
Henry is the best player of all time in the premier league. So there’s no point in having this convo. Everyone knows this!
Henry better overall player, shearer better finisher/pure goalscorer. Goldstein knows he chatting shit about that united goal hahaha that goal was pure genius, he's telling 106 prem goal darren bent it's easier than shearers volley pure troll haha
Of course Darren Bent is going to say Henry’s goal was harder, he played for the Mackems 😂. I would have said Shearer’s Everton volley was more difficult as he didn’t set himself up.
For me it's Henry but i'am a bit tired of this debates with heavy focus on stats. That's the way football is going...
Shearer is greatest , fowler , Cole , Le Tissier up there as well .
Henry all day but respect to shearer
Henry is better, not even comparable. I like Shearer but people put him in this conversation only because he holds PL goals record.
Goalscoring is the hardest part of football. Every time someone scores loads of goals in X amount of time they put up the all time list and Shearer is often off the charts. Henry is better but it's definitely comparable, and they're not actually compared enough.
Henry; Ronaldo; Rooney
TH14 all day long
Henry
Shearer is untouchable if we are talking about the better "Goalscorer". Henry was the better player, but you're comparing a number 9 to a number 10 which is the problem. If Shearer had played in teams as consistently good as Arsenal which almost always had world cup winners and players Bergkamp in it and hadn't had 2 horrific knee injures where he missed the majority of 2 seasons, his record would be even more insane. Some of the Newcastle teams he played in had great players but some of those teams were no where near as good as the teams were nowhere near as consistently good as the Arsenal team. And at Blackburn he carried the team to victory because the whole team was built around him. Blackburn could never have won the league or finish 2nd, 4th and 7th without him. Those 2 serious knee injuries robbed him of scoring over 300 goals and a lot more goals for England.
Shearer was out injured for 1/4 of the season back in 2003 and he came back to still be the top goal scorer of the season. There is no debate! Shearer all day!
Henry was literally the best player in the world in 2003
Henry won the PL top scorer in 2002-03, stop lying sir
in what world is alan shearer a better player than henry lol it can only be mars surely
Henry by a country mile! No comparison. People forget all the assists alongside goals, all the trophies club/country and the fact he made the game beautiful the way he played. Fucking shit comparisons. 🤬🤬🤬
Henry wouldn't get 22 goals in the Premier league at 34 let alone score the amount of goals shearer did in the teams shearer played in compared to the world class teams Henry was in thick as a plank u
Best striker Shearer Best player Henry
Of course Bent picks Henry...... He's an ex SUNDERLAND player..
Bent was being a bit disingenuous. Shearer was the better goalscorer & Henry was a better player. Most fans would have Henry all day long
I would just play 442 and have them both up front so who cares lol
Henry's record in finals is not good
Its definitely thierry! This statement about Henry playing in a better team is irrelevant. It's all relative. A good player can still be good in a poorer team
The only difference is arsenal are more successful because the rest of the team were better.
And also that Blackburn team were actually pukka. Look it up!
Thierry ball control was off the charts.
They were different player. Shearer was more of a poacher
Thierry every time
HENRY IS THE BEST, HE WAS BETTER THAN CRISTIANO
Henry >>>>Alan
It's sergio
Shearer the best goalscorer, Henry the better finisher. Overall in a one off game shearer, but if you wanted theater and amazement Henry.
You're very welcome.

Shearer beat goal Scorer Henry best player

Thierry Henry is the best player to ever play in the premier league

Shearer was not a better striker

Doc Dre he’s the premier league all time scorer, yes he was
Lucas Robinson who is then? By the way it’s definitely Ronaldo
Alan shearer
Look one finished rheir career in the mls the other in pl g/g ratio doesnt mTter
Henry better player, Shearer better striker
The only debate for Shearer is the fact he was a great goal scorer. As an all round player who can do everything, Henry was on a different planet compared to Alan Shearer, it’s not even a debate.
Who even is the host man. The bloke needs sacking
That's Galeforce. Great presenter, that job's not as easy as it looks.
Best PL striker to win all domestic trophies & UCL is Didier Drogba!!
Henry the best striker to EVER play in the PREM.
Think your forgetting one or two that has also won every domestic trophy and UCL and is also a striker
@@thomassmith5395 Rooney? He's up there but Drogba's clutch moments in PL, FA Cups & UCL is very impressive.
@@Kazuma-des to be fair the title just says the PL. Doesnt say anything about cups or UCL. So probably not drogba
@@thomassmith5395 Yeah I know but Drogba is so prominent when I think of the PL. Chelsea winning all the domestic trophies & that UCL clutch moment vs Bayern Munich at their own backyard. I would pick Drogba for the big occasions.
Hand of frog
AS9 all day. I don’t know why Darren Bent keeps on about assists, I want my strikers to score goals, if he has a good partnership with some like we have at Spurs then fair enough. But ultimately I want my striker to be a goal machine. Yes Henry had goals and I fucking hate admitting that as a Spurs supporter but I’d have Shearer any day.
Lol ur a Spurs supporter nobody would expect you to pick Henry lol cause he always mauled ur team ur probably still annoyed with jim
