- For about 10-15 hours of work and $255 or less you can make an at home powder coating oven that is easily movable and takes up less space than a traditional oven.
For those curious, this is the spray booth I am using: amzn.to/3nVD7gP
For the parts you will need, here is the price I paid locally, and a link to where you can get it.

Wow nice job and great idea with that file cabinet.
Great job!🤘🤘
Thanks!
Well done.
Thanks 👍🏼
Thanks for this video I am going to follow suit but I figure if I start with a fireproof filing cabinet I can skip a lot of the fabrication as they are already super insulated.
Aluminum conducts heat MUCH faster than steel, it would be hotter and it would take longer for the oven to heat up. You need to just insulate the door and separate as many connections between the faces as possible.
The door is insulated but not ideal. I just put a sticker on to that says hot so I don’t forget lol
Really good video. You must have used a paint suitable for heat😷
Yep?
Nice build! How do you rate the Harbor Freight Titanium welder? Just as a side note, use ground instead of grinded.
Works good for me. Would recommend it to anybody.
Do you plan on trying use both elements at once? If so how do plan on wiring it! Prob one burner will be plenty for that space! Interesting build though! I live repurposing!
Yes both burners are used at once. I doubled up the wiring so that when the broil is selected both burners turn on full power, or when a temp is selected both burners turn on until temp is reached. Both burners aren’t necessary but it helps bring heat up much much faster.
@@BWBGarage Hmmm that’s a good idea actually using the broil!! Thx
Where did you get the hood tent thing you are using to powder coat in?
I got it here: amzn.to/3nVD7gP
@@BWBGarage thankyou
Did you have any problems or complications later on with the oven controls and wiring??
Nope, it all worked as before
Nice job, but the filing cabinet is now $293, DAMN!!!!!
Check Facebook market place, Craigslist , and garage sales. You can usually find them for $20-$50 dollars.
Wheres the buggy?!?!?!?
Been waiting on parts from Australia to get started on the suspension. Working on side panels and seats in the mean time... not much content for a vid yet
@@BWBGarage thx waiting on that build also. Enjoy viewing your build
@@BWBGarage STILL WAITING FOR SOME UPDATES!!!!
Your primary mistake with this project was how you installed the insulation. The insulation was compressed far to much. It needs the air to get it's R-30 rating. You should have peeled of layers of the insulation that were no more than 2x as thick as the open space available. For example: If you have a cavity that is 12" x 24" x 1"; cut a 12" x 24" piece of batting and then peel off a layer that is about 2" thick. Your approach did not work because compressing the insulation so much, increased the effective density. The denser a material is, the quicker it can conduct heat. Fiberglass insulation works because the strands are 5-25 micrometres thick and surrounded by air. The air acts as a heat sink slowing the transmission of heat. Compressing 9" of insulation to about 1.5" reduced your R-30 to about R-5. Furthermore, you could have reused the insulation from the oven and saved yourself some money. Based on your video and looking at my own oven, you have about half the cubic inches of air space to fill. Also the pink insulation you listed is not the same as what is used in ovens. That is apparently a form of fiberglass called Ceramic Fiber.
Good pointers! If I ever build another oven I'll take them all into consideration. Cheers!
@@BWBGarage you did an AWESOME JOB!! I stole a few of your ideas. I found a much larger file cabinet and two sheets of sheet metal in front of my neighbor’s house for the trash...rolled my dolly down the street and went shopping...LOL
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
Buy a tripod and stop making people sick to their stomach.
Good idea
