What an adventure!! I feel like this documentary takes me back to my roots in storytelling. It's a piece that I've been wanting to tell for more than 5 years now, and I'm so glad by how it turned out!
I just spent 2 days living with the Mundari Tribe in rural SOUTH SUDAN and it was an incredible and humbling experience. After spending most of my life in busy cities, it was so refreshing to witness how the Mundari's live such simple, genuine lives - far removed from the stresses of the Western World - yet they remain so happy and so close to nature.
The Mundaris are known as the “Cow Tribe” because they live among their cows (literally, thousands of them) and utilize their cattle for food, trade, dowry and survival. After spending 48 hours with the Mundari tribe, I learned that it's the simple moments in life that matter most - like family time and laughter.
I actually posted this video on CZcams a few weeks ago, but it got flagged and demonetized for various parts (i.e. the urine shower), so my team and I have blurred out all of the best parts (sadly) and this is the PG-13 version that you are watching. If you want to experience the FULL UNCENSORED version of this video, with no blurs and 30+ minutes of deleted scenes and extended interviews, then you can head to my website: www.drewbinskyuncensored.com/. The video is available on a pay-what-you-want model, and your contribution goes directly into helping me continue to tell epic stories around the world like this one. If you donate $50 or more in the next 3 days, then you'll be invited to join me in an exclusive Zoom Q&A call on April 5th. Thank you for supporting me as an independent filmmaker - I love you all!

As South Sudanese, I was impressed to see so many positive comments here. Thanks to all of you❤❤. We welcome anyone wishing to travel here to experience the vibrant and diverse culture of South Sudan, home to multiple ethnic groups, each with their own customs, traditions and beliefs. Live music, dancing, traditional wrestling and intricate beadwork are just a few examples of the rich cultural heritage of this young and vibrant country. Whether you're interested in the country's traditional dress, food, or language, you'll be fascinated by the breadth and depth of South Sudan's cultural heritage. "South Sudan may not be the safest country," but South Sudanese are very friendly to foreigners.

I think it'd be cool for the next tribe you go to ask your local friend what's their biggest problem, and give them a parting gift that will help them with it with the help of an expert.
In the case of the Mandari it can be some device or teaching them a technique to purify water, and for some other tribe it could be how to find copper that can be used to make a power generator.
Or for some other tribe a campaign for awareness, e.g to make the area more peaceful or whatnot.
While as it says on your shirt in the video, "we're all the same", but out of that we can also be empathetic and help one another.

I actually think it's quite alright to visit a place as a guest/ student without also being a patron of some sort. They are content with the way of life of their ancestors and if they don't feel they are missing out on anything, then there's nothing wrong with going there simply to be among them and learn about their way of life. The work that mission and humanitarian groups do is beautiful and important, as they exist to help with needs and resources in an organized way, usually with the buy-in and cooperation of the communities they are helping.
But it's also beautiful for someone like Drew to come and not at any point treat them like they have a deficiency but just partake in the culture and extend friendship and leave as a friend. A PEER. A visitor from another land who simply wanted to be with them for a while. No mission, no objective. Just learning and being together.

We are ancient people, King Tutkhanmun is from my tribe. No Arabs call Tut khan Mun, but because we were displaced from there, that’s why we are in South Sudan today. We first settled in a place called Tuti in Khartoum before they pushed us to the South. We named that place Tuti, after our King Tut khan mun who ruled Egypt for many centuries.

I’ve seen people harshly judge nomadic tribes in Africa for how they live but despite medical issues, they’re not living in such an artificial and stressful society like we do in western or progressive cultures. They’re happy and comfortable not having advanced technology. No distractions either and live a natural life.
