“Do you use this on stage?”
Mike dean : “🎹🎹🎹🎹” 😂
😂😂😂
😂
Mike being stoned and just shredding and giving Anthony barely any response half the time was cracking me up. Dude’s in his own world and it’s such a sick world lol
That’s the funniest part of the video lol
No way this is actually happening, the greatest collab in synth history 😳
Two players, "the thief," and a camera man.
It’s amazing 🤩
Ripping bong and taking shrooms to BE THE SYNTH is the most powerful advice i´ve gotten so far!
I guess Mike Dean is the kind of person who prefers to do and play over talking and theorizing. Good stuff! :)
He also smokes a ton of weed which makes ppl like this
based
Mike Dean vocoding over the intro is hilarious and wonderful.
It’s like mike deans ghost was just messing around with the vocoder in the intro 🤣
I love that Mike dug what Anthony was playing. Mike seems like a hard guy to impress.
Of course he was impressed and asked questions. Mike knows exactly who Anthony is and just how important Anthony's contributions are to the shape and sound of modern music. But yeah, I totally agree, it was super cool to see that look from Mike over to Rob and Rob's just like, uh yeah, that's it ,told ya! And then... Mike just totally takes quartal and quintal harmony and immediately understands and uses it because he's Mike Fucking Dean!!!! Damn! Great Vid!
Yeah the quintal thing is definitely cool.
hes really high
its tough to watch anthony try hard to bond with him and he just shrug it off. nothing against anthony, he seems like a great guy, but mike has no time for it.
@@robdot0nah I reckon he was just stoned 🙂
“Its a delay” had more rolling 😂
I love how right off the bat they get sucked into just playing chords together and playing around 😂😂😂
The ultimate collab finally happened
And this is why analog will never die. You can't walk into a room of plugins. You can't mod a plugin. You can't get two sets of hands on a plugin. So good. Thank you for sharing.
Saving your presets, isn't that pretty much modding a plugin? Also, you can control the plugin with two sets of hands. Midi controller+DAW is pretty much a synth.
But I get what you're saying. There's no magic to a DAW.
@@rallerallesson408 I don't see that as a mod, but yeah you could hack the code. It's not the same though. And you gotta midi map all that stuff to something analog even with a digital connection involved, so still analog in my book.
Good point. A simple way to have 2 midi keyboards go to 2 different plugins without spending too much time so you don't lose momentum. That would go a long way.
And I definitely run two different synths on different keyboards at once in the daw, but theres only so much you can map too. There's a mini keyboard I like to use because of a flaw it has where you can get a double note from tapping it a certain way. Cant map that really either. But hey I love plugins too. They aint going nowhere either.@@2face789
The dx9 is obviously the best synthesizer.
This audio was captured exceptionally well.
Bro did an entire performance for his homies, what a guy.
The "warning" at the beginning makes it clear it's going to be a fun video. Anthony Marinelli is such a sweet guy to consider that someone might be bothered by Mike Fucking Dean ripping a bong hit like in almost all the other videos he is in.
I'm loving the chaos and musicality of this "interview". This is how I want my hangouts to be
It seems like there are only two fully functioning sections of his brain that haven't been bonged or shroomed away... 1. the playing music on the keyboard part and 2. the programming synthesizers part. Other than that he seems to be in a near-vegetative state. Fascinating! Great video. I look forward to part two with great anticipation.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥕 comment deserves a lot more attention!
He’s high.. of course he’s probably not like this 24/7. Obviously he can still make conversation and respond to questions.
I F'ing love Anthony Marinellis Passion in full display with Mike Dean!
"Let's sit down for an interview " "Let's stand"
brother with all those synths in there there is no other option🤣
Everyone looks extra happy!
☁️🎹🎹🎹☁️
Man, this reminds me of my hippy friends in their housetrucks and particularly Mole and Will who had multiple synthesizors at the top of Rama Rama Rd, the epic journeys we'd create after a few bongs and maybe some shrooms just like the man said with all sorts of other instruments of course like my flutes and him on guitar and sometimes his wife singing...Cosmic voyages into sonic landscapes with sounds that the slightest turn of a knob morph into other dimensions.
Still love his early work with Rapalot records. 5th Ward Boys, Geto Boys, Devin the Dude...
"Just be the synth" 🎹👋👽🛸 Watched and loved every minute of this. Too many legends in one room!
Since I was a kid, I've always been amazed by music and sound. My father was a musician and so are several of my very close family members. Music is in my blood. The synth has always been the instrument I have been most fascinated by, followed by guitar. Here I am in my 50s and finally just now beginning my synth/ piano lessons journey and I have found a new passion in life. Thank you for this vid Anthony, you and Mike D. are incredible musicians. I am completely inspired by you guys. Thank you for breathing some life into me after all these years thinking I can't do it. Much love
I sold my friend that Roland HS-60 in the video and then he sold it to a music shop and now Mike Dean has it! Bad asssss!
“Be the ball… you gotta be the synth.” - Mike Dean
Just absolutely glorious. The sound of those Oberheims was incredible. Please Anthony and Mike. Do a synth jams collab album. Just free form jams. Do it!!!
Encore Electronics card inside the OBX for sure. Push long time the manual button to acces manual mode… This meeting is pure gold! Chords progression in fifths on OBX are the best moment!! Thank you guys
What does that do?
@@bengsynthmusic Encore midi card is a new implementation system with midi, brain system ( no need old Eprom and battery for retaining memory allocation programs) and CC control facilities. Memory presets expand to up to 120 programs in order to 32 programs standard in OBX board.
I cant even write anything witty, this is just dope. Thank you for this amazing content and everyone who got this together.
The discussion at the end makes me want a podcast on technique in the future.
Ok the best line “smoke weed and concept. Take shrooms and be one with the synth.”
Woah! This collaboration is like hearing planets align! cant wait for part two!
- Antony: " What about concept ? "
- Mike: " Yeah, have a couple of bong hits, maybe take some shrooms and be one with the synth, you know. "
- Antony: " One with the synth ... "
- Mike: " Have you ever seen Caddyshack ? "
- Antony: " mhn mhn ... "
- Mike: " Where he's like, be the ball. "
- Antony: " Yeah. "
- Mike: " You gotta be the synth. "
The people are huge, the synths are huge, and so is this channel!
This is take the phone in the washroom and lock the door good!❤❤
THE HUMANITY NEEDS A SONG CREATED BY THE SYNTH MASTERS!
this is a showcase of AK's patience and understanding of an artists temperment. what a man what a mighty fine man
5:45 quintile harmony opened my musical world. Simplicity that generates complexity.
You can tell Mike was picking up some things from Anthony. Great vid!
Mike is an absolute beast! Let’s go!
Lucky you having this advantage jamming with Mike dude! Priceless..
Literally have seen mike dean like 10 times in person . I was always too shy to ask who he was. Now i respect him more. i overheard a story about Rob Rosen helping him buy and restore a CS80 or CS60 sorry if i have them wrong. It was 3 years ago after synthplex Rob Rosen had an open house. It was the most prolific gear experience in my life outside of Armens in NYC. U cant play synths at armens.
I was at Rob’s thing too !
@@anthonymarinellimusic Please dont take offense. I dont recognize anyone in public unless you have a video on youtube or channel. I had no idea who Jimmy Jam was but i sure as shit know his work and after hearing him tell the prince story where he was fired and sign the oberheim for Rob. I had no idea Jimmy Jam made a F ton of my core musical knowledge as well as you Anthony. Most of the Cartoons i saw in the 80s you made the themes or worked on the songs in shows. If i saw you in public the 5 year old me would hug you in Joy for all the happiness you gave me with all the music you have been a part of. SYNTHS , music electronic music. We all have this devotion to out passion of music. We all seek comradery from our peers, knowledge and wisdom and sick tones from our music. Many have talent, few have passion. Some of us were chosen by the universe to create music. The first time i saw met mike Dean was him Recanting the Story of how Rob got Dean a CS80 or CS60 and restored it for him. Rob & Mike look tighter than Tango and Cash. I love the energy around all the passionate people ❤ stay groovy my Brother
I can’t play a lick but love watching those who can! Much love from Houston! Mike did a lot of work with Htown artists
Thanks a lot Anthony for bringing this experience to the yt audience. Mike seems to be not the easiest guy to have a serious "interview"... but the way you adopted to the mood and nature of this meeting turned into something so real, so natural that it was indeed an experience not just a yt clip to watch. Moreover... Mike playing on 2 moogs with bass line on the left and lead on the right made me immediately turn on my synths and play around for 2h after watching it :) Thanks again for a great inspiration.
Always waiting for new content from Anthony!
We need part 2 ASAP! :)
A candid insight to natural talent and passion for one's craft.
Mike Dean and Powerglove would be my two biggest wishes for this channel. Half of my dream just came true.
This is like a ....dont have the words ....
i want to come and play 😀😀😀
Solid sounds floating out of that room! So inspired by some of those sounds I'm reaching for my gear now :)
Mike dean is a vibe !
Frickin legends. Thanks for sharing Anthony, this was great!
Mike spoke about adding an Arpeggiator. Recently I discovered the RETROKITS RK002 . It's literally just a midi cable you can plug in MIDI in and OUT that has a chip allowing you to have an arpeggiator. Love the channel!
Thank you so much for doing this. Such a treat 😍 Can't wait for part 2
Oh, damn, that was excellent! I can't wait for part 2!!!
Can't Wait for Pt.2! Thankyou for this incredible video Mr. Marinelli
MIKE!☺️🙏🎹
Thanks for sharing this collaboration!!! Amazing and mesmerizing
One of my top 3 videos of Anthony, i love this collab! i'm so excited for the second part
What a marvellous catch up!
This is the video I always wanted! Keep up the amazing work
Huge Thx , you two are killing me ...caddyshacking me thru n thru, kewl to see how you inspire each other to get that synth hell glowing !!
Anthony! I LOVE how you guys got right into playing the entire room...which i had running through a decent bluetooth speaker. The sounds were amazing. I never heard of Mike Dean but he's cool af! Thank you for bringing such amazing content❤️
I enjoyed every second of this. It's truly inspiring to see these synth masters having fun and genuinely showing their excitement. I loved the reflections about simplicity, I couldn't agree more. Thanks for this. Brilliant stuff 💜
Thank you ! I had such a great moment watching it. Instructive and entertaining.
I'm alive for this!!!
So wholesome
just guys jamming and talking about synths makes me happy!
Yall make a album thanks
Wonderful fun and really cool tones. Mike knows his instruments through and through. Probably knows that bong pretty well too! Cheers
this was awesome - looking forward to part 2!
I could watch and hear this the whole day, brilliant! ❤️🍻
I like the fact that he doesn't say very much and just gets on with the job in hand. The proof is in the pudding, so to say.
Such an incredible jam! So many amazing instruments!!
Awesome stuff, I love it !!!
this is the best, mike has been my synth hero for a while now
What a lovely surprise!!! Thank you for such a treat to you all guys!!!
that lil synth sesh was crazy
Been waiting for this to happen for a long time 👏🏾👏🏾
best vid you've done so far! love it!
You know, this idea of showcasing what different synths can do is quite informative, but what really brought special attention was the sound of Elka Synthex.
You cannot stop watching it’s so awesome!
Awsome stuff, amazing sounds together
AMAZING.. 2 synth golliath's creating magic. This is probably my favourite vid yet 💎💎
Legendary
Best video I’ve ever seen!! How cool seeing these two worlds collide!!!
2great synthesists at play, awesome ❤❤❤
Thanks for the great music Anthony & Mike and great discussions with Rob ... great team..... the simple Juno is fantastic and the Obx is some power house , loved the 5th chording and bass Anthony ! .... minimoog lines nice ! and well the 4 voice sem dream! .... Jupiter8 (why did i sell it)
Beautiful content to start my weekend thanks guys synth goats !!
amazing duo, can't wait for part two!!
🙌
This is such a great video. I especially liked the midrange quack of the vocoded Moog Subsequent. Shocked Anthony was showing Mike options on what sounds good under 5ths. Mike knows this - maybe high?
Thats gonna be fiiire!!!
Thank you Lord for this amazing channel praise be
So good! I just had a little three person gathering in my studio on a somewhat smaller, non-famous scale, but we had a blast in similar fashion. Love to see this sort of thing!
I love Mike dean. Amazing work with Abel from The weeknd.
Love this... Rhythm tracks and BOOM! Instant Hit! Nice Jam!
Whatever Anthony was doing on the OB while Mike was playing was fire.
this gon be crazyyy
This is just too much!!!!! Exactly what the people need right now🙏
Speechless... the mood you got there and the way you all get us into... I wouldn't whish I was there, just sitting in the corner in awe, because I was there with you. So immersive, so cozy, so simple... thanks guys. Great video.
I’m so glad you felt like you were there, I love that!
@@anthonymarinellimusic That's exactly the point. You have this rare power to embrace your audience and make us feel part of the video. In this case, thanks to the other two, this effect got empowered by the absolute chill and full immersion in music. So simple but so powerful. I can only renew my congratulations for the result. Result that was me sitting on my couch with headphones but with you in that very room.
Another lovely video Anthony! You gotta keep bringing Rob in. Loved the P Thugg "Tonto" video
The mashup ive been waiting for holy shit
This is why the world is great! ❤
This episode feels like a film score!
Mind blowing!
