Simon has no clue that Don McMillan was already a legend in America before anyone knew who Simon was.
Yup. Don McMillan has an impressive resume as an electronics engineer for over 20 years. The stuff he has done has impacted BILLIONS of computer users and continue to be relevant. His film and TV credits is a short, but significant list.
Contrast that with Simon Cowell who has a long list of television credits, but nothing really noteworthy or memorable. At least not anything that I have ever cared about. And, he seems to have the personality of an earthworm.
Simon had made up his mind about Don McMillan as soon as he stated that he is a stand-up comedian for a living and introduced his screen.

The thing is music comes from dark places and good places. That's what makes a good singer and the song writing. Eminem is one of the greatest rappers and alot of his music are what you call sob stories. Just the way music is. You have to connect to it.

I've seen Don McMillan's comedy (not in person, but on youtube) and that man managed to shorten down a 24 minute comedy show into 3 minutes. That is amazing.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Don McMillan. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head.

It's comedy for Brainiac's. So not everyone is going to get it lol.
People talk about Simon's reaction, but there are a few things which I think are important to understand in shows like this
1. This is a drama show and the judges are the stars. The talent-search bit is secondary to that. That's how these things work.
2. I understand Simon feeling that way in that moment - what he said and did is actually pretty mundane. But whatever these TV stars do is on film for the world to judge for as long as the videos are up. And it's sensationalized because that gets attention. The video persists much longer than the event itself.
After simon turned himself into ForeverAlone face IRL, it's very hard to gauge his reaction. But if you look closely he was laughing his butt off.

Don is very, very funny. This didn't seem like the best venue to appreciate his humor.
He chose the wrong powerpoint charts. Some other powerpoint charts were really funny.

Don just didn't have enough time for this act. This show is a little over 15 minutes if you watch the whole thing, so he had to cut it by two thirds. I think Don's irony was completely lost on Simon anyway, though.
Yeah I find that Don's routines work better in smaller venues where he also has a lot more time to flesh them out.

When Simon is present and/or a judge on anything you're signing up to be a part of, you automatically know exactly what to expect. In fact, it would have been epic and peak hilarity to start off with the data for the likelihood that Simon will as always, complain and be void of anything remotely entertaining. At least his botched facial reorganization surgery matches him and his personality.

Surprisingly, I’m with Simon on this one. There is nothing wrong with the comedian, but I just didn’t find the act funny. I felt like he was just jumping around to a bunch of random topics yelling loud things about them.
Being the real deal is always better than being the phoney deal. If you ask me, the only ones who should be dropping the act are these phoney baloney judges, starting with the frumpiest and the crummiest one, and simon is head and soulders(shampoo variety) above every one else in that league.

To be honest, it wasn't his best material. And I've seen him do the venn diagram better.
Don McMillan is hilarious. He's a highly intelligent engineer who uses his unique mode of thinking to show us what's funny about everyday things we all know and expeerience. It is a cerebral type of comedy that is best appreciated by those who are also thinkers, so Howie Mandel (who is both a fine standup in his own right, plus is a good topical thinker) gets the material, but Simon has trouble absorbing it or appreciating it.
