It hasn't even been that long since the show started and it's already pretty messy, so i thought i'd just share my opinions on it cause why not?

Tbh for Jiyoon, especially in the final love song I kinda get why she was mad. She first got the main vocalist part and after she had it taken from her she constantly tries to get other parts just to be shut down by literally everyone in the room telling her she couldn’t do it. I’d be mad as hell too
I think for her it’s like she’s allowed to not feel the best about the situation. You are allowed to feel how you feel. Her issue comes in when she lets her emotions affect her performance. There was other girls who felt sad they didn’t get what they want but they settled and still made sure to do good anyway. Jiyoon acts stubborn and shuts down

Totally relate to her being mad, but that's why I'm not an idol. She is not ready to be on camera all the time.
I assume they kicked her out of iland because she is hard to work with, not because she is not talented.

Just watched midnight theories' video on it and honestly I agree with her and you. This show is filled with girls who aren't developed enough to show how talented they're. How can we pick these girls over thousands of constants? These trainers are not develop and will most likely not like each other when they debut.
In other survival shows with trainees coming from different companies we had a much wider talent pool, but on iland2 there are only a few standouts. I just hope we’ll see a steady improvement from these trainees before the end of the show.
Dude the Saebi praise is appreciated. I love how determined she was and how she kept practicing over and over during Panaroma also she gives major Wonyoung vibes.
I'm not rooting for Chaeeun, but not because of any really skill related reasons. Girl was accepted into a ballet school where the acception ratio is 1:4000! Her talents would be absolutely wasted in a kpop group.

It's time to be realistic and realize that not only very talented trainees are gonna succeed in survival shows.Some trainees that debut are stan attractors that are liked by the public for reasons other than their talents, also it's not like these people cannot improve in the future. There are other trainees that deserve to debut more than Chaeeun but she's likable and hard working so why can't people support her?
Anyway she isn't even among my top pics and she's not gonna make it into the final lineup anyway, so...

i definitely don't think Jeemin is overrated, i think she's accurately rated for her skillset and personality. otherwise, i agree!
I didn’t watch r u next so i wasn’t familiar with jeemin. I heard people praising her SO MUCH that i went into it expecting her to be crazily talented and captivating, but i was like…that’s it?
I think she’s good but not as good as her stans claim and i believe there are many other girls more suited for the center spot.
She actually showed more of her talent in R U Next then in I-Land 2 so that’s why her stans are praising her
I started watching iland 2 only for jeemin but I must say she did not show her full potential till now.
You didn't even R U Next so are you gonna even know from where she got those hypes. Jeemin has shown barely the ideal side of her. She's not only popular among audience also biased among the trainees. She have shown all of her charms in her previous show which made pretty popular and deserving trainee to debut. She would've debuted in Ill-IT by now if it weren't a shit show

So glad I’m not the only one who thought that
I’m so glad to see people with common sense here over the Jiyoon thing. Yes, she’s talented asf and yes, mnet is obviously trying to make her qualities seem even worse than they are with the editing- BUT that doesn’t change that her behaviour is consistent and self absorbed.
Just look at episode 3 when she was so grumpy over being demoted to ground (which, crazy this, she was NOT the only one to be demoted), instead of working hard to regain her position and having a positive headset to improve herself and do her best in her unit despite the song not fitting her well, she sat alone in the corner multiple times and brought the whole atmosphere of the group down- which, need i point out? She was MEANT TO BE THE LEADER. But who ended up practically doing her job entirely for her? Gyuri. A 15 year old. And furthermore, Gyuri was also left to have to pull Jiyoon together thenever she was upset when, if jiyoon had the right to be grumpy, Gyrui had all the right to be too considering they were both demoted together. But no, the 18 year old had multiple tantrums and failed her duty as a leader, whilst the 15 year old had to practically babysit her.
Fact is that Jiyoon would not survive in a group setting if she thinks only about herself and not her other members.
See the thing is that she is genuine and was simply frustrated..you cannot understand the pressure they have on them and not everyone reacts the same way to a particular situation.....when she was in the ground and has to choose between 'like ooh aah' and 'bad boy' she made compromise with Fuko and let her have the song she wanted when she knew well that cute concept doesn't suit her at all...she was not able to gather courage and was not confident at all because of all those harsh and bad feedbacks she was getting..when you have talent and cannot stage it well that is when you start to question yourself and she was in that phase...after that when she got a space to showcase herself and was praised she improved and improved and now when slowly everyone is revealing themselves, you see only she is thinking about her being a team member...the thing is she is a very simple girl. She felt the girls she came with has the bond with her but she was not supported by them(im not blaming them) then she came to the conclusion that everyone is in the competition and she was also frustrated but then in eyes nose lips she acted like a team with her partner(after getting the feedback) and then after you only see her rise and in the recent one(i am the best) she came out as a new person..she came out of her frustration and found herself.
Guys , don’t forget that show like this highlight what they want and what is entertaining and gets the viewers attention and satisfaction
Jiyoon happened to be the target probably because she is an interesting contestant and they decided to give her this „ role“ like the role of being on top from the start like Choi Jungeun or Fuko and Jeemin as the ones who have gone through other survival show and this is their „last chance to debut „ kind of gig
jiyoon literally asked fuko what song she would want to choose and gave up bad boy because fuko wanted to even though we wanted to do it. jiyoon and other contestants (sujung, minsol, gyuri, jungeun, fuko, jeemin, etc) have a good relationship. just leaving this here

Those attributes are very important in the industry and life in general.

My underrated pick for this show is Choi Soul. She's not a terrible vocalist and the way she performs is SOOOOO captivating.
yesss Soul is also one of my favorites even if she's not necessarily one of my main picks! She's someone with a lot of potential, that's for sure.
Jiyoon is that girl, she'll debut, people can grow and learn from mistakes. Future is unpredictable so u never know

So true about the main vocals. I got so used to Bora and Hui showing up on all these shows. I think I am spoiled and forgot what regular people sound like when they try to sing.
Jungeun is definitely the best vocal but it's going to screw her up in the long run if she keeps taking the hardest parts.

jiyoon deserves to debut, but as a soloist. I love her voice sm and technique-wise i think shes the best vocalist in the show. She would shine so much as a soloist. Her vocals shine so much in ballads like eyes nose lips and that could be her concept though i think the concept dont fit other contestants, so she deserves to be a soloist.
In my opinion, Jiyoon would fit to be more of a soloist if she continues with that attitude. If she wants the part, of course she should fight for it but you can’t always have it your own way. She’s gonna be in a group anyway and when you are in a group, you have to make some sacrifices. She doesn’t look happy even when the producers recommend another person. I mean I wouldn’t be happy either but it doesn’t mean you have to throw a tantrum and have a dissatisfied look.
I also don’t get the people saying that the other contestants “betrayed” her. They all are doing what’s best for the group. I saw someone saying that the other contestants were faking their sympathy for Jiyoon when she was send to GROUND after they “betrayed” her by not voting for her. So what do you want them to do? Just ignore her and not comfort her? Not saying to have a full smile but at least appreciate your teammates. If you look at GYURI, she’s putting on a smile even when she was send to GROUND. Don’t go and reply me and say it’s evil editing btw. Jiyoon ignoring and giving nasty looks to Jeongeun is definitely not evil editing. The evil editing is that MNET made the scene more dramatic than it actually is.

Finally caught up on iland and I was shocked when I went online and saw Jiyoon was super popular? Like I understand that Mnet makes dramatic edits so she might not be as bad as she seems, but she seems extremely difficult to work with, and they had to get the footage from somewhere. Even if you brush it all off as evil editing, I'm not sure what she brings to the table. She's an okay singer, probably not a lead vocal compared to debuted groups. Dance is fine, but she always looks miserable.
Seems like people want to like her just because mnet told them not to.

THANK YOUU. You said everything I been saying in point one and I got attacked on twitter because of this. Not to mention nobody gonna wanna work with her if she debut. Like people gonna see she gonna be difficult to work. Not only just music wise but what if a brand want to do promotions with her but she don’t like the style of the ad and she decides not to care. It’s unprofessional.
You’re right and it’s funny because kpop stans always speculate on idols being rude and entitled judging them from a split second video, but when there’s someone who has been consistently and unmistakably acting in an entitled way like Jiyoon has, they defend her and justify all of her actions.

everyone is forgetting that part 1 is based on how well you work as a team. it was so annoying when people kept saying ‘ofc jiyoon is mad she got kicked to ground, she got the 5th highest score’ when she purposefully caused issues & slowed down rehearsals bc she didn’t get the part she wanted - to the point where she had to be spoken to bc it was making people uncomfortable. the people defending jiyoon don’t understand how draining it is to work with someone like that

Brand doesn’t just collaborate with everyone darling, they also follow their themes, if she is not cute no brand with cute concept will collaborate with her and she is not someone hard to work with, she is the geniune person and reacts like many other do. Imma add too, I’m not suprised the contestants aren’t really vocalists. This group is under the black label and we know teddy gonna work with them a lot. Teddy hardly cares about vocals. He a dance and rap type of dude and theblacklabel is as well. with Jiyoon there’s just too many downsides to her debuting imo
- as you touched on in the video - she’s just not suitable for working in a group. u can’t get in moods to the point that it makes ur teammates uncomfortable just bc u didn’t get the exact part u wanted or the song isn’t your vibe
- she seems far too emotionally fragile. this isn’t her fault but she is SO affected by any amount of criticism even if it’s constructive. imagine how she’d deal with the regular hate idols get, not to mention a hate train
- i don’t even think she’s suitable at all for a kpop group talent wise. all her performances have been extremely average (except the vocal performance). she’s not an impressive dancer, she’s not eye catching, she has no ability to digest concepts & her voice really doesn’t suit pop music

y’all r doing far too much to defend obvious emotional instability. if going to ground for a week & judges criticism causes her to spiral, how do y’all think she’s going to deal with her group not doing well or being an unpopular member or getting thousands of hate comments or having videos go viral making fun of her? personally, i don’t think she would be able to deal with that
@MassiveGamingBeast no she kept getting pushed left and right until she was left off with vocal position 12 when we all know she could sing every part right (everyone kinda did shit on their part except jeemin, koko and jungeun) but no one wanted to glet her try or get their parts, yes its a survival show but imagine urself in her place where u get demoted from main vocal (the talent shes most confident in and only had to practice the part for a day or two and the judges favored jungeun for it when she was fine as a center) to a sub vocalist at the end of the song and told to suck it up and bottle her emotions up. Its a very toxic environment like every survival show yall want her to just shut down.. she apologized later and moved on to practice, got voted out to ground by her friends (its fine she didnt leave a good image), let her best friend fuko get bad boy even tho fuko fits ooh ahh and jiyoon couldnt, and she shouldnt have done that but she had a bigger heart and tried her best in ooh ah, and had to lead her group, full of less trained and lost girls. No one would want to be in her position.
Honestly Jiyoon just makes me mad because sure she's talented, but she's acting incredibly immature. And it can't even be evil editing... Like yes other girls could act that way and not have it shown, but the fact is she's still acting that way and it's literally just shameful.

These are two completely different things. What does me saying Jeemin's talents are over-hyped have anything to do with me saying i'm rooting for Chaeeun? Mind you i've never said Jeemin is not talented and i don't want her in the final line up, matter of factly i've said i think she's more than ready to debut by now.

Eu concordo com a sua opinião sobre a Jiyoon, ela agiu de modo completamente inaceitável e antiprofissional, embora os produtores tentaram fazer parecer que a atitude dela foi compreensível. Mas creio que após o episódio 4, um sentimento misto deve ter surgido até em quem se revoltou com a atitude dela. Ela tem uma voz desconcertante, o que torna o comportamento dela ainda mais incompatível.
Ia argumentar em favor da Jeemin, mas depois de ver que você torcia para a Chaeeun, acho que suas preferências são bastante peculiares. Infelizmente o que causa uma maior visibilidade para a Jeemin, também parece ser o seu principal motivo de nunca conseguir se sentir confiante de novo: o fracasso no reality anterior. Parece que algo quebrou a confiança dela de modo muito profundo.
Com certeza a Saebi é a melhor center do elenco. Ela está sendo preparada pela empresa por 44 meses (sem contar os períodos não contabilizados). Desconfio que ela sozinha, faça outras candidatas com pretensões de serem center também, serem dispensadas.
Sim, a Sarang também é a minha favorita (o que me faz questionar como alguém consegue torcer para participantes como a Sarang e para participantes como a Chaeeun). Infelizmente tenho percebido que nada do que ela faz parece suficiente aos olhos dos produtores, ao mesmo tempo que não entendo a preferência pela Mai, que até hoje não parece ter NENHUMA competência que a torne necessária: líder, a Fuko e até a Jiyoon parecem se sair melhor; visual, a Jeemin, Sarang, Jungeun, Saebi e Koko não fazem ela fazer falta; vocal, precisaram de 9 episódios para alguém tocar no assunto dela ser praticamente fanha; dança, infelizmente precisaram de 8 episódios para dizer que ela fazia parte de um grupo numeroso de dança no JP, mas até dizerem, isso não parecia possível de ser visto a olho nu. Desde o primeiro episódio, basta ela aparecer na tela para os jurados elogiarem até a respiração dela... Artificial demais.

This show is in dire need of more contestants that are farther along the trainee road. Most of the girls should be in a company undergoing normal training instead of a survival show.
No matter the talent you have, you should not be on a survival show if your training period is under 1 year.

Ok but the lack of um jiwon screentime is honestly surprising. I noticed that she kept getting skipped over and decide to keep an eye on her and she honestly is pretty good but they keep glossing over her like she isnt even there.

Idk why you’re comparing Iland 2 with Gp999, Universe Ticket, and Prouduce series because those survival shows had 80+ contestants and one even more than 100 so there’s obv gonna be more more vocally talented trainees ratio vise…….iland 2 only has 24 contestants and out of those 24 even less are gonna be powerhouse vocals. If we compare Iland 2 with R U Next then it’s basically the same amount of good vocalists. In R U Next the only powerhouse vocals were Jiwoo and Chanelle and lead vocalists were ppl like Minju and Yunah while everyone else was kinda mediocre

jiyoon is going nowhere and she'll be debuting, being a team player doesnt mean settling for scraps all the time, this is a survival show, theyre not in a group yet so obviously everyone wants opportunities to shine, jiyoons only crime is being vocal with her emotions.
I've seen my fair share of survival shows and trainees that were vocals about their emotions and being vocal about your emotions is not the same as acting like a brat every time things don't go your way.
It's fine being sad and disappointed for not getting your preferred part, but it's unjustifiable to slack off during practice while everybody else is working hard. There were other contestants that didn't get the parts they wanted and they just did their best with what they had to do instead of acting like Jiyoon did.
I'll be glad if she matures and debuts, but if she keeps on acting like this it's just gonna damage both her and the future group in the end.

even she herself acknowledged she wasn't able to give her 100% during practice because she was satisfied, and she literally expressed how she feels sorry for the other members all the time and she obviously still tries to pick herself up and work as hard as she can.

She isn't intentionally being immature or childish, she's just very emotional and expresses herself in a different way, everyone is not the same, as long as she works hard not to bring her team down that's all that matters.

I don't think jiyoon is 100% in the wrong though, like jungeun changed her and mai's part last second and then only pulled Mai in for a talk after her last minute decision. Then jungeun was wondering why jiyoon was in a bad mood when she didn't even bother to get her for a talk until after that. Plus the edit that jiyoon get feels very realistic I started rooting for her because she wasn't putting on a facade like some of the other girls. It's like what you see is what you get.

it's not just about not getting the lines she wants.
1. during the first mission, she was given the main vocal position but was then changed due to the judges, at this time all the other good parts were already taken and she didn't even have a chance to try out for other parts except the center which she didn't get as well. It's a survival show, of course she wants to make a good impression on their first mission so imagine going from most lines to like barely two lines without an option.
Even tho she was dejected at first, she still managed to pick herself up and do her best with the part she was given and ended up in top 5 highest scores for that mission yet she was kicked to the ground, which made her dejected again because she felt, even though she had gotten a gotten part she had been kicked out and had to make due of 2nd to the worst part without a choice, managed to get 5th highest score yet was still kicked out by people she considered her friends and who saw her struggling, that was how she most likely felt. Whilst the other girls prolly saw it from a different angle, I mean they kicked out some girls just because they fell ill.
2. During the second mission, she was depressed again, not just because she didn't get the song she wants but because she KNEW very well that she doesn't and couldn't fit cute concept, the way the whole contestants were shocked to even see her there, she had to voluntarily give up her part for fuko knowing very well she couldn't fit cute concepts and she felt she had already not shown a good performance with her first mission, so obviously that was more disappointing. She obviously struggled with the cute concept and it wore her down, its not easy to switch to something you dont know overnight. If you watched the show you'd see how much she tried to do good at the concept but it's just not something that naturally comes to her, so it didn't work out.
3. In the third mission, she finally got an opportunity to show what she had been trying to and she shined. You could clearly see all the emotions she'd been going through in the performance.
Jiyoon is an emotional person, she always tries her best, but that side weighs her down, I hope she learns how to control it better in the future but she isn't immature atleast not intentionally.
Jeemin has talent but honestly compared to the rest i find her lowkey less...she has more experience but most of the contestants could give better than her with time
for center it either saebi or yuju or sarang thats it

If Saebi stans were to put her on a pedestal the same way Jeemin stans do, i would also say that Saebi is a bit overrated, but people are not overhyping her talents like they're doing with Jeemin.
As far as stage presence is concerned, Saebi is way stronger than Jeemin and much more versatile, but keep in mind i never said that Jeemin has weak skills, it's just that sometimes it feels like her skills are not as crazy good as some people make it out to be.

I agree with you. Yijoon has shown nothing but disrespect, rudeness, laziness and ungratefulness. She has received multiple second chances and still continues to act mean, childish and ungrateful. She has the worst attitude and she does not deserve to debut. No member will be able to get along with her in a kpop group. I feel she will put the whole group down and drain everyone's good spirits. She should just become a solo artist. She is not a team player. This is my opinion & observations.

jungeun is on par technically with so many main vocalists and outsings so many others.
jiyoon has a unique tone so she her voice isn't really versatile, but she's also a good main vocalist who can rival many "main" vocalists out there.

jungeun sang ALL the main vocalists line by HERSELF, and let's not pretend some of the izone girlies don't lower the tone or struggle with some of these songs when they have to sing live, the encores are there.

1) disagree. she threw a tantrum one time and got upset that the other girls did not vote for her to be in island BECAUSE SHE SCORED WELL ENOUGH TO STAY THERE. so yes her feelings were 1000% valid. normal teenager, evil editing, however u want to see that those feelings are valid. the only episode where she worked bad in a group was in the episode for the signal song. because she went from main vocalist to 1 liner because of the judges.
But in the signal song...she literally ask for mai part..and Mai have to let it go..these two literally in a same situation but with different reaction about it...and for signal song she not being voted out for a reason..the member literally said that they want a person that can cooperate..FUKO literally because she is sick literally unfair .and jiyoon obviously because she keep sulking...and also on ooh ahh team she do the same thing..gyuri one of the youngest need to help her to lead..that's why I think she be good for a solo but not ready to be in a group

If you judge someone just by seeing the mnet's video then you are totally fool I would say , they are notorious for their fake edit and contestants literally had to go through criticism just because of their atrocious promotion. Moreover even if it's true Yoon Jiyoon isn't only one to blame from the final love song her position was snatched even whatever part she wanted to do wasn't given to her , she had to bear everything also as a young kid she had to go through many pressure and uncertainty but unfortunately people are blaming her because she openly showed her disaggrement and frustration, so put yourself in her shoe you will understand and don't take these shows seriously as most of the videos are heavily edited even shown in biased perception
Mnet is notorious for taking things out of context to try and ruin someone's reputation and create more drama, such as the "beef" between jungeun and jiyoon which is totally fake, but jiyoon's way of reacting to not getting the parts she wants is not evil editing, it's genuinely how she expresses her frustrations.
As you said, she's young and anybody in her place would feel discouraged, but there were many other trainees who were in the exact same situation as she was, yet they didn't let their emotions get in the way of practicing and working well with the team. She needs to learn to control her emotions better in order to work well in a group and i'm sure she will mature, or at least i hope so because i think she's genuinely talented and likable so i'd be happy if she debuted.
