Passive Cross over network for Sub woofer
Vložit

- This video is for making a simple Crossover filter network for use with a Sub woofer, which cuts down higher audio frequencies above 200 Hz. This network will pass low frequency range of 20 to 200 cycles which is most suitable band for a sub woofer. This network can handle sufficient power upto 300 watts. For higher power, the coil wire has to be thicker . A non polar 100 mfd capacitor can be made by joining negative ends of two 200 mfd 100 volt capacitors which becomes 100 mfd 200 volt.
If the coil is made with a coil winding machine you can check the no. of turns. Otherwise you have to calculate the weight of the wire from wire gauge chart. I shall share about other types of network for two way and three way speaker systems in my next episodes of Making Loudspeaker series.

Thanks for your valuable training.Wish you a healthy life to teach us for long time. We are proud to be a Bangali.
🙏
Nice idea Sir. Yes, the bass is more gain. But that's much better to call; 'high frequency killer', than a :subwoofer booster'. Because the amount of power from amplifier to distribute in speaker is decreased by cancelled high frequency. Anyway thanks for video.
Very crisp.and to the point explanation....values viewers time

Good sir.....
Sir sony d70 home theater ka bass kse increase kre
Bass trible long punch bord banasakte ho video ap lod karo
Thank You for taking the time to show us (your students) how to wire this configuration. How do we find what inductor and capacitor to use for different speakers configurations ? Like smaller, bigger speakers more powerful and less powerful amplifiers .
To calculate values of inductor and capacitors you have to use some mathematical equations. If you want to know about it please contact me at whatsapp no.
Thanks
Sir how to make 4 ohm 20 watt woofer bass frequency changer for speaker box, sir I hardly many many thanks you I am
দাদা আপনাকে অনেক অনেক ধন্যবাদ আপনার মাধ্যমে অনেক কিছু জানতে পারলাম আরে একটু ভালো হতো যদি বাংলা বলতেন

Good ket
200W 400W Speaker Subwoofer Crossover 8ohm 1 WAY Filter
Please explain again full, how to connect the woofer connection. Where are amplifier. I don't know more English, please try to understand my phone words.
Sir apnar dokan kothai ache
Thank you for the demo . Could you tell me where I can buy this crossover ?
Email makingloudspeaker@gmail.com
layer by layer wound would have been nicer for better sound and accuracy. random wires in a coil have so many complex leakage path as well as complex capacitive couplings.
hat's up sir
Sir everybody says that no crossover for subwoofer is it true please suggest because when I go to local market they say we have only crossover for stereo only
You can try this network
sir, i want to make 50-80hz 4 ohms 200watt please tell the value for coil and capacitar
Sorry forgot to add, that's for calculating values for a _First Order Butterworth Filter_
Similar type to this video. 👍🏼
Nice but you have to use speaker box and check

I am your subscriber, very nice videos. Can you please guide me what specific components should I use to make a sub-woofer passive crossover of 4 ohm and 5 watt. I am using a simple 5v amplifier board which I got from my old broken usb powered pc speakers. So i am trying to add some extra bass for a simple 3 inch woofer speaker I bought from local market and in parallel with a old 4 ohm philips two in one's speaker.

What is the permeability of iron core that you used in the video?
Can you suggest online calculator (or formula) for inductance with multilayer iron core [like steel core with permeability of 2000]
The inductor coil shown in the video is made on trial basis.
However,
The absolute permeability of a soft iron core is given as 80 milli-henries/m (80.10-3). ... While, air may have a permeability of just one, some ferrite and permalloy materials can have a permeability of 10,000 or more.
For calculating inductor you can try following link :
www.allaboutcircuits.com/tools/coil-inductance-calculator/
@@makingloudspeaker link which shared is showing "solenoid" coil (it's a single layer coils) can I used that measurements (like number of turns) and make a multilayer coil
For multi layer coil you have to consider mean length and diameter
@@makingloudspeaker thank you so much. One more last doubt can I use aluminium enameled wire instead of copper enameled wire, is it ok
@@mohdyousuf9533 I have not tried. I think Inductance will be less. More turns will be required.
Is crossover required for full range speaker?
For full range speaker cross over network is not required. If you want to add tweeter, you will have to use a high pass filter.
@@makingloudspeaker thanks
Sir what is the name core put inside the bobbin
I have mentioned in the video that I have used soft iron core.
Please location
Sir but every time complition of one layer of winding the diameter gets increased for second layer ,then third layer and soo on.... how to calculate indctance of inductor inductance because the diameter increases ,even if bobbin is short number of layers increases, if it is long noof layers decreases then also diameter changes but we are calculating for bobbin diameter, i get confused how sir can u explain
From standard wire gauge chart you can find turns per inch/cm, then get no.of layers, mean dia, mean length x no. of turns, total length of wire and weight of wire for required number of turns. You can get tips from any transformer winding handbook. Thanks.
www.zpag.net/Electroniques/Audio/multi-layer_air.htm rimstar.org/science_electronics_projects/coil_design_inductance.htm you can use this link for Air/iron core coil calculations

What is the gauge of the coil?
Please watch the video. It is mentioned - 22 swg
Hi sir, I like very much your videos on making speaker boxes and crossovers. I like crossovers making more. I love your tutorials. Can you please help me to learn how we can devide 5channels or 7channels output from two channel input from amplifier
and more over that 6.5 mh inductance may filter around 500hertz only , some technical person tell if it is around 63 mh it may give around 40 hz like he tell , now what is your idea sir
Thanks for your comments. There is a standard equation to find out the values of C and L for any crossover frequency and impedance.
That is C=1/2πfR and L=R/2πf
You can find out values of inductors and capacitor as required.
