Stan was a fantastic Stoke City and England player. Also, after he retired he would walk amongst Stoke supporters during our games to talk to many of them. A fantastic footballer and a fantastic bloke.

Thanks for the video, Sir Stan without doubt was amongst the all time great players and was easily amongst the greatest British players of all time.

Great player, in my opinion he was the greatest player ever and it's frightening to think how much better he would have been if he played today, with the better pitches, lighter ball, boots that now look more like trainers.

Great players thought Matthews was one of the greatest ever players. He was also a good man. Doesn't get any better than that.

Stoke City - You had Englands greatest keeper and possibly Englands greatest ever player.

Stoke and Blackpool have both had the privilege to be associated with the Wizard of the dribble!

Bobby Charlton summed it up perfectly. Unless you were around to see him play you will have no idea how massive he was in the world of football in his day. I am glad I saw him play in person for England and when he played for Stoke visiting Charlton at the Valley. Even at 50 he was still quick over that first 10 or twelve yards. The only player I would put up there with him would be the amazing Tom Finney.
