Ben Koller of @thehookuptackle_usa sent me an order of new reels including 4 of the BRAND NEW Daiwa Tatula 300 Swimbait Reels and I'm going to give you guys my take on it and the differences between the Tatula and the Lexa WN and Lexa HD model reels.

*Used this rod recently on a river hike in NH. It performed beautifully **enjoyable.fishing** recommend as I had hoped it would, on a whole heap of river smallies using tiny torpedoes and tubes.*
I'd love to see the 300 Tatula in a slower gear ratio, like a 5:8 or something like that. Is the only thing that keeps me on the "Tranx team"

I've been using the Daiwa tatula spinning reals on my finesse setups and they are amazing. after hearing what you had to say I will be looking into the baitcasters now as well.

I just picked mine up a couple days ago and have fallen in love!
Picked up a lexa 300 hd this year and man that things awesome. Using it for moderate size glides 6-9 inch and some soft baits in the same size range. Handles everything I throw on it flawlessly and quite effortlessly. Super easy to get dialed in too. Love that thing gonna outfit my new swimbait rod with the same thing. Really really like the powerhandle on it too. Balance is spot on

Think the tat 300 is enough to handle a 8" Huddleston? Just picked up one and I want to spool it with 65lb braid to 30lb leader just for this
Yes the tat 300 is fine for 8 inch huds. Once you get to 10inch huds then I would go with a tranx 400 or 400 size reel

I’ll definitely have to try a Tat 300. My JDM Daiwa Catalina just doesn’t have the spool capacity needed for big baits. Thanks for posting

Late to the party here but which 300 would be better for primarily back bouncing catfish in heavy current? Casting distance is no concern, heavy bait from 4-10oz with anywhere from 1-80 pound fish… or recommend something else. I want to stay with 300 size because palm it all day long while bumping bottom.
I'd go slower gear ratio Bradley! More torque and power to winch them big slimy bastards off the bottom. There is no clicker but I didn't find that to be a problem when we were fishing blue cats on the James river.

Ive already got my rod but i cant decide on what reel to get. Im stuck between the tatula 300 and the tranx 300.

I just got a 7’9” Heavy Tatula swimbait rod, planning on throwing mainly 6” hudds, A rigs, and glide baits up to 200 at the most, mostly stuff like the arashi glide and s waver 168. Would you go with the Tatula 200, tatula 300, or lexa wn 300?
I'd suggest a 300 sized reel like the Tatula or 13 Concept A3
How do you think it will handle these big 20+ pound king salmon and striped bass out here in the delta up through the sac feather and American?
Just caught over 150 stripers up to 38lbs on the Atlantic Ocean in current. It will do beautifully!

Been my favorite reels thus far. Hold plenty of 28 & 35lb fluoro for fishing big baits. Lots of line capacity to deep crank Big Ms with. Great to have the power for flipping and frogging too!

Hey Oliver, Im pretty new into fishing and starting with a crappie setup and a moderate budget setup for cranks, jigs, and texas rigs etc. I wanna get into swimbaits! I don’t have a boat so ill be a banker for a while. I was looking to invest into a proper swimbait setup where I can cast far from the bank and invest into take 2-8ou swimbaits. Would I go for the 7:1:1 or the 6:3:1? Also I was looking into the swimbait casting rods daiwa made that are 9” to pair with this reel for $100 bucks.
Milan! Welcome to the sport!!! Sounds like you're off to a great start! Those Daiwa rods sound like a great starter option. I'd suggest the 6.3:1 as my bank fishing is generally a much slower presentation. Good luck in your learning journey!
I wish the lexa HD came with the double paddle handle. that’s the only thing that keeps me from buying one.
You can always swap handles or even trade someone 😉
@@OliverNgy I know. If I were to get one I'd buy a handle to go with it. I just got a new reel I'm trying out for a season before I buy another one. Is the lexa aluminum?

for a LONG time, neither could I brother. Use that as motivation.
@@OliverNgy I've tried but with a messed up spine that is curved,twisting and shrinking dur to a rare type of scoliosis it gets a lil hard at times. I have one bait caster that took me forever to get and it's a lews it's been doing the job for now.

We have fished them successfully in saltwater without issue.
