- In this vlog we visit Carowinds, an amusement park that features 14 roller coasters that opened back in 1973. Join us as we share our reviews from all of the coasters at the park as we enjoy one of the best days of our USA road trip! We share our thoughts on many different bucket list coasters including Fury 325 and the new for 2019 Copperhead Strike.
We also capture the fantastic atmosphere across the park and experience some absolutely outstanding operations and customer service on Fury 325. We had an absolutely awesome day at this Cedar Fair park and we look forward to visiting again in the future!

I was thinking the same thing! I’ve always loved the chemistry between Alex and Shawn but Brett has been a perfect fit. I’m glad he stuck around and it was funny watching him set up the air mattress in the travel vlog.

Carowinds is my home park! I’m glad you enjoyed. This park is Cedar Fair’s new favorite child and they’ve really turned this park around from it’s Paramount days. It’s actually the largest Cedar Fair park in terms of land at 407 acres. We used to have a flume ride where Cooperhead Strike is now and a rapids ride that closed this year for future development. There was also a monorail years ago when the park first opened but has been closed for a while.

Cedar Fair destroys Six Flags. Their parks appear cleaner, and well maintained in comparison. Hope Alex is okay
Gotta love the brand new (used) SLC they installed at Michigan's Adventure, 11 years ago. Love hearing the host on the train still having to say it's MA's newest coaster. Yep, Cedar Fair is awesome to the smaller parks.
*Cedar Fair destroys it's smaller parks after acquiring them.... Fixed that for ya.

Something I've noticed in the last few vlogs -- Brett is a VERY WELL HYDRATED fellow!
I was at Portaventura a couple weeks ago and I must have drunk 4 litres a day trying to fight the heat. I paid a fortune in bottled water

Carowinds is our home park. We love the front row on Fury too, but there really is no bad seat. Copperhead strike is just what Carowinds has been needing. Great Coaster

A great park for coaster fans. Sorry that Alex had a nasty experience but it was great to see him joining in again at the end. It’s always good to praise customer service as that can really make a difference to your park day. I’m liking the sound of the Cedar Fair parks based on your vlogs. Good to see you all smiling at the end of the day.
Great vlog! I completely understand Alex's experience on the Flying Dutchman. I handle almost all roller coasters very well until I rode Firehawk at Kings Island a few years back. By the time I got to the brake run, my head was spinning and my stomach was a mess. My head was messed up until I woke up the following morning. I think the warm weather plus the unpleasant restraints/seating position played a big part.
Another great vlog Shawn, Fury 325 does look awesome. I think a singing career awaits Alex, ha, maybe someone will see him on this vlog, and say......that's our man, ha, ha.

Fury 325. Categorically my favourite colour scheme for a ride. Chartreuse (toxic variety) is my favourite colour, and the combination of that with turqoise is stunning. Incredible.

God damn Vekoma living up their their name that Haxar coined on a trip, "Ve-Coma"! I used to slag these off something fierce on CF back in the day when Air was just opening! I love these videos because you live the life I onced dream of living myself! Back then there was no youtube - and any (CFTV) videos I made took people most of the day to download!! I was truly born at the wrong time! DF

I find Brett and I have the same preferences. No way would I say Copperhead Strike would be better than Fury. Apples & oranges, bay-bay.

Alex does have some very similar thoughts to me however there's still quite a few parks and rides where we share different opinions!

Of all the bucket list coasters including TTD and SV at Cedar point... Fury 325 is the one that will get me to book flights over to the US, I'm sure of it. It looks absolutely breathtaking. It looks like my dream Coaster.

I'm in the background at about 26:50 with my sister and her boyfriend. We didn't want to be rude and ask you who you were but we found out because of a post from coaster studios the next day. We were on a coaster road trip of our own

Hey! That's ME! around minute 27. My boyfriend, brother and I were on a rollercoaster road trip. I was just reminiscing and remembered we ran into this situation. Trying to respectfully ignore the vlogger in front of us, as you do. We hit Canada's Wonderland, Dorney Park, King's Dominion, Carowinds, and King's Island over the course of 8 days before returning home to Michigan.
Fury 325 is literally my favorite coaster of all time behind Top Thrill Dragster! So fast and so much airtime!
Also 2 fun facts, 1. The Carolina cyclone was the first ride in the u s a to have four inversions and it held that record for 2 weeks. It was the first of its kind. 2. Before carowinds was owned by cedar fair it DID have a monorail but my dad said that the monorail got taken out when he was a little kid. Thanks for your time and enjoy your ride here at carowinds.😂

2 weeks ago, I was at Carowinds and thought I was going to find CS to be ok, at best. I got to ride it at the end of the night, 3 times in a row, and absolutely loved it...the POV's don't do this ride justice. It was one of my biggest surprises on the 22 day, 29 parks trip I was on...just an absolutely fantastic ride.

Just finished the vlog. I am so hapoy you loved the park. Fury is my 2nd favorite coaster and I just love it. The operations are the best in the chain and it was awesome to see you get the night re-ride. Glorious. We live in Buffalo, NY and we make the drive every other year to do Carowinds, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion with 2 days at each. It's really an awesome coaster road trip. Cheers!

Vekoma actually fixed the Nighthawk situations with new restraints for the newer 2 Dutchmen rides and also the dual loading stations

I love Fury 325 it’s my favorite out of the 200 coasters I’ve ridden😀 I rode it 24 times in one day last month when I went to Carowinds

The Vortex logo was made back when these were Paramount parks 😉
Wrong, Vortex opened in 1992- a year before Paramount was operating Carowinds.
I think y'alls definition of "family coaster" and my definition vary greatly
You really get the whole Six Flags VS Cedar Fair thing now. SFOG has an arguably better coaster lineup, but the care Cedar Fair puts into their parks makes them way more enjoyable than any Six Flags park I have been to.

@@ofclshn Honestly, yes. SFOG may not have a ride that reaches Fury, but the average quality of their coaster collection is better and more consistent. Once you're past Fury, Afterburn, and Intimidator (which I find to be fine but not exceptional) the quality level drops off dramatically at Carowinds, IMO. SFOG also would EASILY be a nicer park than Carowinds if Six Flags bothered to take care of it and had better employees.
Cedar Fair staff are always super friendly
I had that with fury in Bobbejaanland. I was on the last train of the day and the operators sent the train out again. It was absolutely amazing!😁
Looks like a good fun park with lots of the other attractions. Think it’s more a 2 day park to experience everything

Alex’s discomfort after the Flying Dutchman was disturbing. Happy to see he recovered pretty well but he is definitely pushing the envelope in the heat.
Drink water and eat something. Yes, eating a meal greatly reduces the symptoms and just overall risk of dehydration.

I wasn’t expecting much airtime when I first rode Fury 325, but I was surprised when I actually got some decent airtime on those last hills. Not extreme airtime like on RMCs or Hyper coasters, but it was still good. Fury 325 is one of my favorite roller coasters.
Rewatching this and hearing the mention of thorpe park building fury 325. You foretold the future.

Glad y'all are having a fun, if steamy time. Park looks pretty. Off-ride shot suck the life outa me. They are a scourge upon these lands! Beyond that, I just wanted to mention that Dale Earnhardt was known as the 'intimidator'. The ride is themed for NASCAR.

I love Carowinds. It's way better than six flags. We didn't get to ride all the rides though because it started raining. I'm going back for my 16th birthday. Omg I'm so excited!

24:00 WHAT THE HECK!!! I have been to Carowinds a dozen times before and I have never even heard of it being this busy! Even on Sundays the park has always been dead even the year Fury opened! That's some bad luck man

Carowinds is my home park. What I have to say about it:
For merchandising reasons, the 2015 construction of a teal-and-white hornet-themed gigacoaster and the 2014 return of the Charlotte Bobcats professional basketball team to their previous name and colors is a *complete* coincidence.
Those of us who stood in line for 2 hours back in 1999 don't care that Paramount sold the park, we still call her Top Gun.
Hurler--much like that foul little restaurant sitting in front of it--needs either an RMC overhaul or a wrecking ball.
Vortex might be saved with new trains and restraints. It was like B&M's second ever roller coaster, and look how far they've come. BTW, Vortex's logo hasn't changed since Paramount owned the park.
It saddens me to think that Nighthawk could have been 640,000 soup cans. What a missed opportunity.
RIP Thunder Road. I wish you could have ridden it, I would have enjoyed hearing "Now that is a proper out and back wooden racer" in a British accent.
I'm actually a little scared for Carolina Cyclone. She's a lot rougher than she used to be, and one of her trains has up and disappeared. The world's first coaster with 4 inversions turns 40 next year.
I visited the park on July 4, 2009, and saw the huge concrete footings they had installed in (what used to be) the parking lot, and thinking "Man, something BIG is going here." A month or so later, they announced a B&M Hyper.
I have a theory about Copperhead Strike: That first roll right out of the station is there because Mack Rides would rather improperly restrained guests gently fall out there rather than get projected into the water park on that powered ejector hill.

I grew up near there and have been visiting Carowinds from the mid 70s. The first roller coaster I ever rode was Thunder Road, an excellent wooden coaster they tore down a few years ago. My first loop coaster was White Lightning there which is also now gone. The place has changed so much , but still a great park.
God, this trip is hard work. I know when I've been on a few coasters, I'm knackered. Keep up the good work guys!
Afterburn is my absolute favorite. It's not the best, but I've got such a history with it.
Went to Alton Towers on monday and saw harry turnstiles on the turnstiles and mr lee wood on Wicker man what a great day it was
Ha! Those "cheeks" were my first thought too Shaun on my first ride at the bottom of that drop - I'd just come off I305 and had those cheeks for a good 4-5 seconds on that first turn and rise up... but had no idea I'd get some of that on a B&M! You get intensity at the bottom of Millenium Force, but nothing like what you get on Fury 325 and I305. Incredible stuff.

After the disappointment of Six flags operations so glad you had a much better time, Well done Carowinds , it really showed how much you all enjoyed the park, someone should send six flag a copy and make it mandatory to watch
Nighthawk wasn’t as rough as a lot people said it was. The double corkscrews and the loop are a bit rough. The restraints and the seating position is really uncomfortable. The parts of the ride where you are in flying position were fine, but the parts where your laying on your back are really uncomfortable. In terms of smoothest I think Carolina Cyclone is such a head banger. I have rode Carolina Cyclone twice and it was really rough to me.
I've ridden Carolina Cyclone probably 30 times over the last 15 years. It's gotten rougher with age.

i rode copperhead strike 10 times in a row because it was my first time going to carowinds and i had a fast pass, i loved it that much. it’s probably my favorite roller coaster i’ve ever been on but i haven’t been on many so that isn’t saying a lot.

Awesome Vlog. The Cedar Fair parks seem to understand their customers a whole lot better than Six Flags. You can tell by your closing comments that you guys are on Cloud Nine by the end of your days there. I swear I could see Charlotte in the distance answering FB messages.

@@ThemeParkWorldwideNo question, Six Flags has also a lot of great rides. But if you travel so many miles and you can only stay for 1 or 2 days and have not so much money for coming back soon - it is very disappointing when so many rides are down or open later. They have a bad communication for the visitors and bad operations.
Disney has also rides down very often, but they have the better communication and they are a 365 day Park.
If Six Flags Parks dont change their Quality Standards in the future - they have no more chances against Cedar Fair or Sea Life/Bush Gardens Parks.
So happy this vlog is out!
