- Freddie Roach was concerned about the weather in Baguio, and talked Manny Pacquiao into moving out of the storm-ravaged city as soon as possible. The next day, however, Roach discovered that Pacquiao had changed his mind, as he was busy chatting with Sen. Manny Villar. Pacquiao had previously announced his plans to seek a seat in the House of Representatives, while Villar has spent the better part of the last three years working on his presidential campaign for next years elections.

I would agree with Roach. He was hired by PAC to oversee his training and the upkeep of his talent. PAC was all too sidetracked by the lure of politics. The main focus at that time was boxing and politics can wait. Villar perhaps was off schedule so Roach has to fight for his belief that it would be unwise to give in to another schedule because he knows boxing time frame. That's what you call discipline and PAC has to abide by it for everybody's sake.
Manny needs Roach to remind him of the discipline to succeed and say it like it is. Unlike Mayweather Sr, the "yes man" who wrote poem and showered Ricky with compliments and the result was a disaster.
Coach Roach is the Main Man.

Well politicians are no sportsman, they are ignorant about training schedules. Everyday counts every delay will risks the quality of training. Shame on you villar u are not just a politician but also a businessman. You give deadlines to ur employees to meet ur desires, you should know better ... shame on you villar.

@NME712 incorrect. i just watched that fight a 4th time. marquez was effectively counter punching. but if u watch every single round, manny threw and landed more punches. also, watch the end of all of the rounds. manny was stealing the rounds because he won almost exchange towards the end. in all honesty, that was a great fucking fight. i wouldnt mind seeing a 4th fight between two.

The moment pacquiao entered politics and have his mind and energy elsewhere was the moment he lost his edge in fighting. For the rest of his career. He would basically win by luck or lose by being unprepared. Not to mention he was only getting older and slowrt. He should have just retired right then and there.

there's always a fighter hungrier than you are, and Pacquiao will find that out come Nov 14th. Cotto wants this a lot more than Pacquiao does in my opinion. Style wise both very different, both elite fighters, both have as much chance to win as the other, but if one has a better camp and is more focused and wants it more, that hard work pays off. I still believe we'll see Cotto emerge victorious and again become one of the most dangerous fighters in the game

@ShoulderRollJason i remember that interview actually. kosta tsyzu wouldnt of beat floyd. maybe mosley back then though? i went overboard with ike quartey lol. but i think vernon forest would of beat floyd up back then. if not someone would of had floyds number. like george forman had fraziers number and frazier had ali's number. i think floyd is amazing. his fights can be a little boring at times. but his defensive skills are incredible. theres no one else out there.
@lubui2583 You are missing the point we all want to see them fight but if Pacquiao wont take the test that everyone else is starting to take the fight will never happen. It's that simple all we can do is sit here defending them but truth is Pacquiao needs to take the test so we can finally fucking see the damn fight.

True statement marquez had clear punches but pacquiao landed more thats like me fighting landing 50 punches and the other guy lands 80 it doesnt add up if I win...even if the numbers did lie marquez's face didnt... both are still going down as Hall of Famers who made a huge impact on the sport of boxing that I enjoyed...

Manny can attribute his past poor performances in boxing to these kind of distractions. What are you? Are you a boxer, congressman, singer, basketball player, or a ladies man? Taking on too many tasks makes one lose focus. Just like in MMA, rarely if ever do you see a mix martial artist being undefeated. That is because their are too many disciplines to master. I am a Manny Pacquaio fan but I am also a Mayweather fan. The too many distractions concept is to the detriment of Pacquiao. Boxing is the sweet science, however, it is a very dangerous sport. A part of Mayweather's success is his ability to remain disciplined in his art of boxing. Mayweather's primary focus is boxing and it shows through his past performances, and his bank account.

@lubui2583 That's all we can do is wait for him to take the test but i know who will win Floyds bigger taller longer reach better defense. Pacquiao u can argue hes stronger and maybe quicker? But timing negates speed so it don't matter there will be a time in that fight. Where Pacquiao will realize what hes in the ring with and think what have i gotten myself into i cant hit this guy and hes not getting tired like all my other opponents. When Pacquiao takes the test we will see the best counter puncher and defensive specialist probably ever besides Pernell Whitaker go to work on Manny.
