in regards to not entering a table with the max buy-in...
you need to be careful assuming that someone that buys in with a strange number is playing with their whole bankroll... it pretty much only applies online but if a person is left at a table by themselves, they automatically get placed at a table with players at their current chip amount... it doesn't always mean that's all they have

I agree with most of your thoughts here, although I feel there's definitely a different strategy to Tournaments vs Live (cash) games. In Live games you can certainly wait for your spot, as the blinds don't change. In Tournaments, there are times you have to be able to play "non-premium" hands or the blinds will eat up your stack. Plus, unlike a Live game where you can leave whenever you want, preferably before your opponents figure out your play, in a Tournament, you need to mix-up your play, or your opponents will eventually adjust against you. Anyway, great video!

If you can play short stack well, it isn't a problem.
It only becomes a problem when you are on the right side of a cooler.
Than you don't get to double up.
A few strategies aren't good as a short stack as well.
Implied odds hands, and set mining come to mind.

Chasing too much doesn’t seem right if your getting the right pot odds to realize your equity then you should be trying to realize your equity especially in position. If you have queen jack suited in the big blind facing an early position raise and flop a flush draw. Your realizing 25% equity against three of a kind- 33% against aces or kings 43% if you have an over card to their pair - or 52% if you have two overs and a flush draw

    • @ToTwentythree
      @ToTwentythree Před rokem

depends how much is left for the river, like your not normally gonna be given the pot odds on the turn to call even if get the rest all the time time river the rest isnt alot and there not making big mistake calling then time you hit flush they hit fullhouse you have trips they have trips higher kicker, so the only nut nut hand is flush or straight. theres implied odds and that hitting your hand but it really just how many of there hands are strong there betting like that into you on flop turn river etc.
think size thats left for river is important if your left enough behind OOP river where there range is wide mergy not polar and you can bluff self still then sure but if there leaving 1/2 a stack behind for river fold particularly OOP if IP truly think there getting out of line raise raise turn all in fold there shite get called by there not that you actually do get to realize.
think chasing too much OOP and vs big bets turn isnt great if not enough left behind for rivers.
most its just tilt control and keeping emotions in check if being serious with poker and making sure your sitting at good good table with 1-2 ideally all the table your significantly better than bum hunting (as we all pay loads of rake to house so need more than just an edge on opponent need a edge big enough to pay the rake and have profit after the rakes paid).
this is what i personally hate about poker its marketed as a skill game, player vs player but its not your biggest enemy is rake, it affects strategy and profitability of certain hands alot least over time if playing anything resembling balanced, to avoid getting exploited heavy hard in certain areas.
so its beat the house first then your opponents.
really poker players should be more community minded not dicks and put on private games (that are fair not cheaters in them colluding etc marked cards etc etc) and keep more of the money in the actual poker players pockets and in play not bleeding away to the black hole thats the rake, keep the games low or no rake just charge a fee for the dealer hired or something or club (as makes the game looser splashier correctly too if no rake or very low rake insignificant also opens up mixing limping in certain postions cold calling being correct fine, but a 5% rake isnt meaningless thats passive edge house has, even a European roulette table doesnt have that big an edge and its volatile, poker players are kinda mugs to the house people play it cause they enjoy it and its seen as betting against other players not the house so competition its cool game in first place both holdem and omaha they are interesting and obvs its gambling too which is fun if are a gambler depending what sort..... omaha actually feels like a sweat holdem it dont think very quickly it just feels like mistakes ot not mistakes, omaha cause it being more action heavy and multiple people being in say on turn not all cards out yet its still got that fun sweat gamble factor feeling (down side the pace play slower ha, especially fullring hell i hate fullring for both games, omaha fullrings kinda great as lotta tables deadmoney normally but so fucking slow ha)
zoom games are shit too rake traps mainly especially for holdem as its a no limit game and its actually quite hard to get punished for playing too tight preflop in holdem at all when nolimit.

Why I lose at poker: because I flat a raise with A6 of hearts, an idiot flats with AQ on the button, flop A6, check, I bet, AQ idiot raises, I move in he calls and makes runner runner flush and then says "I thought you had AK". Or I move in over top of a early position raise for 25bb with kings and he calls me with A8 off and flops 2 pair. Or I raise with K9 spades, idiot on button flats with A10 hearts...flop is 963, 2 clubs, I bet, he flats, turn is 8 of clubs, I move in, he tanks and says "I think you have KJ" and he calls...and gets rewarded for his horrific fish play with A on river. I can do this all day as to why I lose at poker at times.

I had a super rough session the other day, with possibly the biggest luck box I have ever seen in my life.
Sucked out 7 times on me, within ~1.5 hours of play.
All in on turn 2 times, I had top boat, dudes 1 outs to quads.
All in on turn 2 times, I had nut flush, dude hits straight flush, 1 outer
AA vs KK, 4 to a flush, I got stacked
KK vs JJ, 4 to a flush, I got stacked
Another one that I can't remember
On top of, dude goes all in on flop, I have 56s, flop is 234, I call obviously.
      Turn 5
      River 6
      Dude had A7o.
And one other time with a straight Luke that.

@@jeffshackleford3152 I don't know man, you have a 2% chance of hitting quads by the river, and about a 0.02% chance of hitting a straight flush. For him to hit both of those hands TWICE in 2 hours is astonishing, and not only to hit them, but to hit them in situations where you also had an incredibly strong and unlikely hand yourself that allowed him to get paid off. I wouldn't have the ability to sit there and continue. I'd be way too suspicious, never mind the massive tilt. Whatever it is, good luck in the future.
