    Great review buddy. Question: do u know if these cameras will connect onto a home wifi mesh network? I have google mesh at home and I was wondering if it will have any troubles connecting the cameras. Cheers

      Hmm, haven't tried with a mesh network. But the ssid being the same on the nodes, it should not, as it will connect to the closest one to it.

      @@TalkingstuffNet thanks buddy. I tried connecting an amcrest camera a few months ago and the only I could do it is by connecting it to the modem/router that was provided by the ISP. Which meant a very limited range and it would not connect to any of the mesh nodes

      @@leonardjackie you would generally connect the camera to the closest node and not move it from there, so it should mostly work.

    Thank you for this nice reviw...but can i ask if the cam can send me on my mobile phone alert sound when detect some one because its records 10 second video only but it does'nt send me any notification sound ..i should open the app to check by my self 🤔!!!

      Apps like this requires internet connection and needs to be running on the background for you to receive notification. Some smartphones, specially the ones with auto manage battery usage, restricts apps from running on the background.

      The ‘home monitoring’ mode allows notifications to be sent to your device whenever it detects motion.

      I have different models accessed via the same app. We use the mi Home app to access the video feed. I have the Dafang model outside, and it's just covered from the rain and it has no problems. Only in the summer when it got really hot did the camera keep restarting. I have three models reviewed on my channel (Xiaofang, Dafang and 360 model). Just make sure it's sits somewhere it can't get wet and it's ok.

      It has to be connected to power all the time. You can use a power bank with it for power backup though. But it has no battery of its own.

      It needs internet via Wi-Fi to work. It works standalone as long as it has access to Wi-Fi. When you want to watch the feed, you can use the app on the phone.

      Even without internet it will record to the micro Sd card as per your setting. When you turn internet on again it will be accessible from anywhere. It also has an access point mode, where you connect directly to its wifi from your phone.

      Yes, the timestamp is displayed on the recorded video and images. We have the option to turn it off in the app if not required.

      Resolution: 1920x1080, Data Rate: 333 kbps, Total Bitrate: 333 kbps, Frame Rate: 20.00 frames/second, Audio Channels: 1 (mono). Offline storage is via a micro sd card. I use a WDMyCloud for external storage and the camera has an option to dump the videos to the NAS once recorded.

      it's a shame they dont give the option to set it at a level that can use the sensor that is there. 1080p60 (think the sensor can go up to 90) and a ok bit rate up to 20+MBit etc. currently look at 30 and 24 fps cameras.

      This is a security camera, so such high framerates would not be required? There are better models but they cost 3 times as much.

      well moste of the base hardware support the higher spec's. and the competition have it AND in some places you need it. so not have a high end line that have every thing enabled and the little extra hardware needed for this is not good. the low cost action cams that is using CCTV chipsets and sensors DO support this.

      If you login via the same mi account on another phone you can access the camera on another device. There's also an option to share the camera with another mi account or via we chat(China) .

      It comes with a power brick and a long micro usb cable. It's wireless (WiFi) so you can place it anywhere you have access to a power outlet. It's not water-resistant though, so would not recommend installing it outdoors. You need only the power cable to make it work.

      You can set it to record either by motion detection or continuous recording. The amount of footage recorded is dependant on how big a micro sd card you insert into it. It has no internal memory.

      Yes the micro sd card will record all the footage, and you can watch off the memory card itself. But you will need Internet to setup the camera.

    hi! does it work when wifi is off? and do i need to open the home mi app on my phone for it to record? i noticed that it stops recording when i closed the app on my phone

      It doesn't need wifi to monitor and record once setup, you can view the recordings when you connect it back to wifi later. Mine records without me having the app on. If you use the buttons on screen in the app to record it will stop when you exit. But if you setup motion detection it will record to the microsd card and you can view the recordings later.

    The mike sound is poor r. Can i connect blue tooth speaker to this camera to increase the sound?

      I don't think you can add a Bluetooth speaker as a source to the camera, during playback from phone it will help with the volume. The mic internally is not very clear, but it's still understandable. Make sure you are not blocking any mic ports where it's being placed.

      It has motion detection only, you can speak via the internal speaker on the device using the app and also record sounds using the internal mic.

      There doesn't seem to be any PC software to access the camera feed and the camera doesn't support ONVIF, so can't use apps like tinycam too. You will need to use the mi home app to check the feed.

      To use an external storage, especially devices such as a NAS with the Xiaomi camera, you need to activate FTP on it. Once done you will have an ip address and also credentials to log into it. use these in the camera and it should work. Also make sure the NAS has a static or fixed ip address, this makes sure that the device is not give another IP when the router restarts, keeping the link with the camera.

      Yes you can access the camera feed using the Mi Home app. As long as the camera has access to wifi, you should be able to access the feed on your phone from almost anywhere.

    Question, does it makes any sound when it starts? If I want to use it in children's room but don't want to leave it on all time, when I started (in the morning, for example) does it makes any noise (beep, voice, etc)?

      It doesn't make any sound when it starts up, but the camera calibrates itself up down left right when first on. Nothing audible but visually you do know it's on.

      I could only find the playback option on the main screen. As I have connected all the cameras to a NAS (network attached storage) , I generally play the videos off it instead of the app itself.

      When playing the video tap the edit button(pencil) on the top right, tap save permanently and it will download to your device.

      Not very sure, I have connected it to a wd MyCloud local hdd via ftp. If the hikvision nvr has a ftp address, then the camera can dump the footage onto it.

    When connected my MI Camera to wd mycloud it is stuck on "preparing for transmission" and no files actually gets saved on my cloud. How did you do that. If possible kindly make a video for the same...

      The wd my cloud needs to have ftp setup and credentials set for access to it. Once set, enter the ftp settings into the camera under manage storage and NAS, enter the folder and credentials and it should save there. Also make sure home monitoring is active and you have a memory card in the camera.

      You can open the app to view the video feed with the sound on. But in sleep mode you would only get alerts if any motion is detected.

      Use the ip address, maybe the user you're logging on with doesn't have permission to use the folder. I made a security folder and a security username with its own password to set all my cameras to.

      Check your router for connected devices under dhcp and look for the hdd. Also I would suggest setting a static ip for it, else everytime the router reboots the ip will change. If it changes the camera won't be able to find the NAS.

      Once you enter wifi password in app, you should show the phone screen to the camera. It will read the qr code and connect to your wifi. What kind of error are you getting.

      If you're talking about refelections, there should be some sort of sheet that would cut glare which would need to be stuck on your window. That could help the camera to look through.

      It can work using wifi Hotspot, but when you take your phone away, you will not be able to watch the feed live. But the camera can record locally onto a microsd card, which when you connect back, you can view remotely when close to it.

      They have the cloud storage option only with Chinese servers. If you have a ftp, you can even set it to that.
