Time to stray away a bit from HOI4 and History stuff which will lead to Tommy reacting to another great LEMMiNO video.
This time it's about all the ways humanity might get wiped out and that the world might end.
Yes I know the world won't end even if Earth goes kaboom and humanity is eradicated, but I mean OUR world, in the sense of existence of the world in our minds.
Volcanos, Asteroids, Gamma Rays, Pandemics, Climate Change.
All of this stuff has potential of making big damage to humanity and Earth, but what can actually end the world for us?
Time to find out in this great video, Consumed By Apocalypse by LEMMiNO!

I heard that at any moment, a gamma ray burst can wipe the planet clean without us knowing at all it's coming because it travels at the speed of light. There could be one making its way to earth right now like half an hour away from wiping the whole planet and we wouldn't know about it. Thinking about this is chilling. 1 Ozon isnt produced by vegetations and doesnt reproduce quick enought.
2 A gamma burst does travel with lightspeed meaning it hits instantanious if we see the explosion in the sky.
3 A mass extinction event is seen by the lack of fossiles or the dissappearence of big animals. To feed big animals you need big food. If they are gone something is wrong. In terms of the perm triasic extinction or the croteacus extinction these events are also largly visible by the change in habitats (deserts everywhere or a big white line all across the planet)
4 the vulcanic extinction he mentiones is the perm trias mass extinction. This mass extincition was a climat change massextinction just as we experience it right now. 60% of all families died back then this is our climat change future
5 there was caranteen in the black plauge like city lockdowns but it failed to adress the hygenic problem
6 also how did they know there was a metroit extinction in the end of the crotacous: the rarest metal (forgot the name) is due to its weight in earth core. Only in one layer the concentration of this layer spikes 3 fold all over the world. You find this metal in astroids.

When news of the asteroid impact come up, I'll just try and drive into the presumable epicenter of the impact, or as close to it as possible. First of all - instant vaporation. Secondly - remember that hippie dude in 2012 movie, that stayed on the volcano when it exploded? The sight would be even more bizzare and thrilling. Just seeing as a tiny speckle in the sky rapidly grows, and in couple of seconds it occupies half of your vision, and the next second - nothingness. Man, that's fucking dope. As a person whose not afraid of death, but the painful process, it's a win-win in my book: no pain, awesome view

The speaker goes on to say that the circumstances that will be dealt with are impossible to endure for human beings, but genetically altering ourselves is likely the only way. Bone degradation and stunted growth will be massive terrible side effects to the low gravity of Mars. Not even to mention the radiation and lack of a magnetosphere. It brings us to the moral question of whether it is ethical to genetically alter humanity for its own survival.

@@drn1850 everyone, the end of humanity will likely be due to circumstances beyond our control due to certain isolated pockets of humanity. For example a pandemic isn’t going to hit certain areas, nuclear bunkers will protect the ‘important’ people. It’ll be our own planet that kills us or something from space

For some more context about the black death since the video only discussed Europe it's estimate that the black death killed 500 million people which at the time was half of all of humanity. When they say it was the worst pandemic in human history they weren't saying it lightly.

If you're interested about the last chapter of the video, I recommend you to read about Collapsology, a scientific movement that has proven that, considering the ressources (oil, lithium, coal ect) depletion rate and our dependency to those ressources, our industrial world civilization is going to collapse in like 2030, and that the coronavirus crisis and all other world catastrophes are only the beginning

nice -end-of-the-world bullshit. We got plenty of mineral resources, the only scarce resources on the planet are water and food. If we run out of 1 metal, we'll switch to another which may be less efficient, but it's more available. That's how we always did.

@@freedomordeath89 tell me with what you will replace oil if we don't have any left? Natural gas? Good luck running cars, planes and trains with natural cars. The crude oil treshhold has already been reached since 2008 according to the international energy agency so don't tell me we have a lot of it left

    • @freedomordeath89
      @freedomordeath89 Před 2 lety +4

@@the_feedle EVERYTHING produces energy when burned. oil happens to be really efficient. But if we finish that, we have literally 1000 other alternatives. Combustion is not a prerogative of just oil. Oil is a pretty recent thing, we've been using it for just 100 years, we managed to live without it, we will be able to adapt even after it runs out.
Also it probably wont run out for centuries. All the meme articles about "oil scarcity" are made by ignorant people like you. When they say "Oil will be exhausted by 2050" they don't mean ALL the oil in the planet (the planet is huge), they mean all the oil deposits WE KNOW OF, there's a ton of oil we haven't used because it's either too costly (for the moment) or it's still undiscovered.
Plus we got 100 other types of engines, we dont use them because those are LESS EFFICIENT at the moment, but if oil goes up in price, other engine types will be used. You forget we used to have STEAM cars.

They had watched terminator and was hey guys you guys wanna make some robots who could wipe out all humanity and the other scientists were like ok. And everyone was like don’t do that , let’s not do that etc. and now we have robots who predict where you are going to be in a firefight and can place 3 bullets in 4/5 places with 4/5 accuracy with where you are going to be and hit you 100% of the time. Some dumbass scientists if you ask me. Btw love you tommy and Marconi
