I disagree. In Germany, we have at least 7 channels (mostly publically funded) that show excellent documentaries on history, politics, geography, flora and fauna almost 24/7. You do not dumb down when watching those. And you might even expand your knowledge of the world and everything in it if you do… Of course, if you are on a complete cycle of sitcom reruns and The Price is Right, you WILL dumb down…

some good documentaries, some bad documentaries, and some really really bad documentaries that are more like a mystery reality show than like a documentary. TerraX had some laughable mystery documentations. "Are Werewolfs real?" - "Did Vampires really exist" and stuff like that, with a show host emerging from the fog. Conclusion of those shows was "we dont have proof for existence, but maybe there IS something out there...." really stupid stuff. Also lots of history documentaries that focus on medieval times are really just repeating common misconceptions, have a very bad structure, no continuous time line in the plot, and give little to no actual visual footage to the topic but rather show historically incorrectly costumed amateur actors inaccurately recreating a vision of "medieval life" that never happened but fits with the common idea of how it was ... seeing how little effort is taken for those documentaries, i struggle to trust that other subjects are treated with more serious effort. Only i dont know as much about politics, animals or plants as i do know about the medieval era so i can't confirm ^^ Still I watch alot of those documentaries. But i also try to find more reliable sources on the internet if im really invested and interessted in a subject.

At one point you've seen them all and no matter how cinematic and phantastical those documentaries were deocrated, it gets boring if you watch the same one for the 5th time. Not to mention, most people are not interested in everything, so someone enjoying a historical documentation might not care for a political one.

It's any incident where at least one firearm is involved, with at least 4 casualties (not necessarily victims). Most of those were domestic hom*cides or extended suic*des by a family father or smth, escalated disputes where one person had a firearm or even someone trying to escape from the police for whatever reason and accidentally shooting innocent bystanders.

I do believe that the obesity problem in the U.S. is more of a food problem than an exercise problem. A lot of the things that seem normal to americans would be considered unhealthy by europeans. I am talking about the ingredients food companies get away with, and food portions. People in the U.S. don't notice the amount of poison that food companies put in their food because they grew up with it, so they don't think twice about it. Same thing about the amount of food they eat in each meal. I have met americans who went to live or to study in europe and lost weight in a few of months without doing a strict diet, just eating european food and european portions. They even ate a lot more bread than they normally would in the U.S. (it is normal to eat bread with each meal in some european countries), yet they lost weight.

Being cultured means knowing things about the world that surrounds you and the history behind it, and on average we very well know how the american school system fails you guys on that one. Not only the system, but also the lack of curiosity in your self-prioritizing mindsets. Obviously that won't be true for each individual, but that doesn't make it an unreasonable generalization
Also, talking from my own experiences, not from a biased european standpoint... I think there should be A LOT of emphasis put into not only studying geography/history, but being taught how to appreciate them and develop real interest that has nothing to do with "I need to learn this for good grades". The world has so much to offer and we stay closed off to it. Makes me incredibly sad. I never feel happier than when I study foreign languages, try new foods from different cultures, learn about thier day to day lives, behaviours, pass time activities, ALL OF THAT. Cause at the end of the day we are all humans, but a bit different, so it's heartwarming to learn how to connect with those you know so little about. It's also beautiful when you get to notice the similarities you weren't even expecting

An American friend of mine living in Australia was told her kids were rude and she couldn’t figure out why. Apparently they had been asked if they wanted chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream, they replied, “Chocolate.” I had to explain to her that here the polite answer would be: “Chocolate please.” Her reaction was that they had been asked a question and they answered nicely. It had never occurred to her that that situation required a “please“. I don’t know if that is the norm in America but it was certainly news to her.
Americans becoming less patriotic could be because of the internet. It seems that for many years Americans have been told that they are the best at everything and have the best in everything (eg health systems, technologies, education systems etc) but now, with the internet, Americans are able to learn about the rest of the world and can see how other countries are and compare for themselves.

I'm French and I heard so many tourists saying that we're rude. What they fail to realise is that many foreigners tend to be impolite by French standards.
As a toddler in France, the first words you learn after Mom and Dad are: hello, please, thank you, sorry and good bye. Children usually know all of these words by age 2 because they're gonna have to use them at least fifty times a day for the rest of their lives.
If you come into a shop, don't say hello, ask for something without saying please and don't say thank you after getting what you asked, you're gonna be seen as VERY rude, and as a result the shopkeeper is gonna be rude to you.
And yes, if someone asks you what you want, you add a please to your answer, the person asking you / offering you something isn't your servant.
Even if you don't understand why a certain culture works that way and you find it stupid, you should make an effort to blend in when you're in another country.
Of course, it's valid for every culture, I just used mine as an example.
(By the way, I'm not saying that all French people are polite or that all children have good manners. There are rude people and disrespectful kids in every country. But sometimes what is considered impolite in a culture isn't in another, and vice versa...)

As it was, the person complaining had gone on to cause offence herself. I just find it fascinating, the differences between cultures around the world, even between countries which have the same language. I think we should all just give each other a little space and if we notice a difference which could cause a problem, tactfully point it out as nobody wants to be offensive or to have their children be thought of as rude.

In our town in Germany (about 37,000 inhabitants) you'll find people from 125 countries registered as residents. Yes. About two thirds of all countries possible the world shows in official numbers. Still, I would never consider myself or many of my fellow countrymen and -women as patriotic. Just to the contrary. The more you are actually in contact with people from so many nations around the world, the less patriotic one might become. It is a more or less useless attitude when you take the more holistic approach.

Americans mostly think their country is better than any other and that americans are the best people. Both statements are untrue. And more than that, its rude to think that and more so to say that. Also i never understood americans claim that God is with them. As if the almighty chooses between countries. Religion is a private matter, so words like "one nation under god" would fit better with Iran than with a secular state.

    - the only exption is old recepe of food that could be eaten nowday but are part of history

But we can make it go back for ages because europe is old .

And you even constantly interrupt your forms of entertainment with constant commercial advertising. All this together makes the USA feel shallow and lacking in depth. Not that this is a bad thing. Didn't it take Britain until the 1990s to repay their American war debt? Yes, the Americans sent tanks and stuff over to Britain during the war but it certainly wasn't given for free! They got richer while Europe got poorer.

Stereotypes are as true as men and women are equal

      Stereotyping people keeps you safe.
      Example.
You are walking down the road.
On one side you have old ladies going to church.
On the other side, you have a large group of men with their faces covered and holding guns.
What side do you walk down?
You will naturally want to take the safety option and walk past the old ladies.
Your mind knows you have a much higher chance or being robbed or assaulted by the large group of face covered men.
Then by the group of old ladies!
An American stereotype is, most Americans are overweight weight.
Most American people are overweight! That’s a well established fact.
      Another American stereotype.
      Americans are loud.
Every country agrees they are generally loud!
That’s 2 stereotypes that are TRUE.
Plus 1 example of why they exist and how they keep you safe!

Rayan do you want the bad news and that is for Obesity your country USA got promoted to three more ranks up now it’s not 16th it’s now 13th🤣😂. And that is not surprising with huhealthy and disgusting food( more like gastro worthy and puke worthy) that is called US gastronomy 🤣😂. France is known as the country of fine dining and best patisserie and yet we are at 106th. So that means our food are better and healthier. Our healthcare system is the world’s best healthcare system our social work system is so great our food are healthier and gastronomic and our educational system is great too. Ryan you should move to France so you’ll eat better and still stay on form and you’ll get the best healthcare 😇

Population Nauru: ~11k, USA: ~336++ 'million' ... how compare that with place 1 against 16 ?
Even if America only has 1% 'fat' people, that's still ~300 times more than Nauru has citizens.
Or the 15 places ahead of the USA together have less population (thin and fat) than the USA fat people.... ^^
So... yes America (US) is the 'fat' country no.1 . Sry guys!! ;P

This video is talking about stereo types. What is a stereo type but the act of defining an entire population on only a small minority of individuals. Which is completely wrong on every level.

Why the 'US' goes on about having a huge beautiful country bemuses me, I think if your country is 75% arid desert I'd cdll it boring. Nope nothing great or beautiful about the 'US'.
