    I was diagnosed with male pattern hair loss in 2007. I spent 6 years and $10,000 on treatments that didn't work for me. Today, I'm a medical editor, peer-reviewed researcher, and the founder of Perfect Hair Health: a website dedicated to teaching others how to avoid my mistakes.
    In this video, I'll take you through my entire hair loss journey: from my hair loss diagnoses to my failed treatment attempts to the development of a natural (and free) regrowth regimen that worked well for me.
    I'll also talk about my unintended entry into hair loss research - and how this became my career.
    Finally, I'll reveal a few ways in which marketers manipulate hair loss sufferers to get them to buy (and keep buying) supplements, topicals, and devices that they probably don't need.
    I hope this video helps anyone who wants to learn more about my story, or who is feeling torn between a natural or conventional treatment approach.
    If you'd like to go BEYOND the information in this video and start a path toward hair regrowth, feel free to sign up for my free email course on achieving hair recovery - with or without drugs.
    It's everything I wish someone had told me 14 years ago when I was first diagnosed with androgenic alopecia.

      @@PerfectHairHealth Hi Robert, I'm a new discoverer of your material (website and now YT channel).
      Been dealing with hairloss for a handful of years, experimenting with minox as well as natural remedies (topicals, supplements, microneedling, massages etc.). Diet has also been a focus of mine as I believe nutrition has to be at the crux of most ailments, and thus I've tried paleo, vegan, Peat etc.
      Anyways, I've decided not to go the finasteride way. I'm aware side effects might be rare but I just think messing with enzymes and hormones is backward logic.
      I'd like to see you do a diet video comparing different diets' effect on hair loss. Thanks for all the good material, have a good one.

    Thanks so much for sharing your hair loss journey. Only men and women who have experienced this know how traumatizing hair loss can be to one's overall self-esteem as our hair is so connected with our outward appearance and subsequent confidence. Many say it is vain to worry about hair loss (often while poking tasteless bald jokes at you); however, healthy self-esteem is so important to success in every part of life. It is a very expensive and frustrating journey trying to find treatments, devices, and products that will at least slow down and hopefully stop hair loss. Although I have learned to tolerate the bald jokes over the years, I can honestly say my hair loss has greatly impacted my overall self-confidence over the years.

    The difference here is really that The pic from 2011 was taken at an angle where you could see directly through his hair (meaning that they were point toward the camera thus exposing the skin underneath). every picture thereafter was taken at a different angle in reduced lighting thus not exposing the silver dollar sized spot. That really just looks like a natural hair cowlick in an odd spot if anything.

    • @tteqhu
      @tteqhu Před 11 měsíci +5

      Yeah, sun's brightness cannot be compared to bathroom in house.
      Pictures are taken from farther out, and front camera's quality is bad.
      Still I'd take a guess it's both small regrowth, and better stylization. (even if you debate over regrowth, it didn't get worse for sure)
      And some testimonals of massages do seem to have results.
      Anyway, you can massage your scalp some.

    An underrated hair loss prevention factor is daily step count. I never see people talking about this one. I didn't even have hair loss until the pandemic hit and I started working from home. My daily step count average went from 12k steps/day to 3k steps/day. That's when my hairline started receding. I now force myself to get atleast 8k steps/day (goal is to get blood to the scalp through movement), which is hard because I work from home.. but it is totally possible. 2-3 walks per day and a gym sesh typically does the trick. Or pick up a sport of some sort.

      Depends on how you wear your hair. He wears it combed to the side with long bangs...so we have no idea what his hairline looks like. I have very full hair on the sides and the back of my head..but I wear my hair combed back which gives the apperance.of a.full head of hair everywhere. But when u get close to me, my hairline has many gaps and you can see into my hair until your eyes hit the thicker hair in the back. So.for me the hairline is paramount. And I have found trying to massage the hairline specifically is very difficult. I heard a doctor say once..."if u really want to.see how much hair you have...comb your hair forward from back to to front and you will see just how thin it is. And because the way my hair grows, I cant really wear it so I can even hide the thinning. I'm 60yrs old and have had a full, thick head of hair my whole life. Then my grandkids were born and for whatever reason I started losing my hair. But anyway...if you are having problems with your hair...I wish you best of Luck!

    Hi, thank you for the info.
    Curious if you ever used an electric vibrating massager at all, or know of cases where people used them? I'm thinking of combining manual massage with also using the former, and also combining these with daily head stands and yogic neck exercises (and maybe also a micro needle of some sort).
    I'm also taking saw palmetto and rubbing natural anti-DHT essential oils into the area. I also have a LED red light and infrared cap.
    My journey with being concerned with this, was during my early 40's, I started resistance/weight training and taking creatine (during Covid). One of these, or a combo of these, after about a month in, greatly sped up hair loss. I had a small bald spot in my crown area before, which expanded to be a bit bigger than your 2011 pic.
    After some treatment, it is closer to your 2011 pic now (slight improvement), but now I'm in the process of trying to refine and optimize treatments. The massaging info is fascinating. I've done a little of that previously, but definitely not much or enough.
    I'm also trying a couple more fringe methods. Using crude/unrefined oil 3 times a month, and a ultra violet/high frequency wand (allegedly improves circulation). These along with manual massage, an electric vibrator masssager, and/or treating the thyroid (by diet, a supplement called nascent iodine, and/or osteopathically) were recommended by an unusual person/source called Edgar Cayce.
    For reference, I'm now in my mid 40's. About 3 years later.

      It's possible that an approach like this might work! However, two quick notes: (1) if you're facing rapid-onset pattern hair loss, it's probably a good idea to get more aggressive with your treatments (i.e., DHT reduction); (2) headstands might improve blood flow through preexisting capillary passages, but for the reversal of hair follicle miniaturization, we're really hoping for angiogenesis (i.e., the creation of new blood vessels in AGA-affected tissues).

The important thing is the information you have given is not entirely false.
    Edit: I will try this for next more 3 months and will update..

    Minimum total SSM efforts of 50 hours. Twice-daily, 20-min, hand-generated scalp massages spaced 12 h apart. SSM sessions were segmented into one of three rotational scalp regions (frontal/temporal, vertex, sides/back) and divided between hand presses, stretches, and pinches. SSM sessions were as follows:
    3 min of warm-up (cyclical presses at 5-10 lb of downward force per hand across the entire scalp),
    followed by 17 min of region-specific tissue manipulation:
    6 min of scalp skin pinches: single-handed or double-handed pinches with grip spaced 1-2 inches apart,
    applying 5-10 lb of downward force per hand,
    and holding 1-2 s before moving onto adjacent scalp skin 1-2 inches from previous pinch;
    6 min of scalp skin presses: knuckle- or palm-based skin presses applying 10-20 lb of downward force, firmly planting against and manipulating scalp skin for 1-2 seconds before moving onto adjacent scalp skin 1-2 inches from the previous press;
    5 min of scalp skin stretches: single-handed or double-handed skin stretches with grip spaced 1-2 inches apart, applying firm but comfortable pressure and holding for 1-2 s before moving onto adjacent scalp skin 1-2 inches from previous stretch.

    The question was: each massage session last about 20-25 min. Do you do 1 session a day? How do you break up the sessions in a week; or do you do all sessions in 1 day with time in between each session? All together that’s over an hour.

    Fantastic results and thank you . I threw my minoxidil away about 8 months ago.I too was going bald on my crown and tried minoxidil and continued to lose hair. I also tried many things like Biotin, rosemary oil and onion oil that actually increased my hair loss. So i started head massages once a day for 5 minutes...thats it. Ive managed to decrease my hairfall dramatically and also seem to have thicker hair. My bald patch is slowly recovering too...I dont derma roll but scratch my head very lightly once a week and this also increases bloodflow to my scalp...my scalp is slightly red after it. All this seems to be working and it hasnt cost me a penny. Steady away and time will tell. Also bending forward and allowing blodflow to the head seems to help. Lke i said im only doing this for 5 minutes a day and its working. Goodluck

    I have female pattern baldness and follicle miniaturization after a lifetime of extremely fine hair. It got so bad my scalp shone thru from every angle and I wore wigs.
    4 mths ago I began researching and bought a silicon scalp massage brush that fits in my palm. It has thick short silicon prongs. I use it vigorously 3 to 4 times a day until my scalp feels literally hot (circulation to the max). Im amazed! Its actually working!
    My scary almost bald crown area now has short dark swirls of regrowth all over and ive stopped shedding long locks. This cheap little Ali Express brush is just the stimulation my scalp needed so I ordered a second one for the other hand and will use them for the rest of my life.
    I also bought a non paraben shampoo & conditioner, use essential oils and flax seed keratin treatments. I really should have done this decades ago. At this rate my hair will be fully restored in 2-5 years 💪

    • @PerfectHairHealth
      @PerfectHairHealth  Před 3 lety

      It’s a great question. We covered vitamin E in our “5 secrets” video, but the gist is that the studies I’ve seen on vitamin E showing promising results were conducted mainly on subjects with telogen effluvium or non-specific forms of hair loss rather than androgenic alopecia. This is why the hair count increases can look so impressive. But if a typical hair loss sufferer tries to apply these findings to their own hair loss situation, it’s sort of like an apples-to-oranges comparison, because most people looking for solutions to hair loss (in the developed world) are those with androgenic alopecia. So, while the results are encouraging, I think we should exercise caution in their translatability.

    Thanks for sharing with these videos and your experiences! My ex-boyfriend used to make a point of massaging my hair anytime he stressed me out after drinking! I used to tell him that he'd need that more than me to calm his head and prevent hair loss, although at the time I was only guessing. I'm quite grey on my hairline, myself, presumably because I have dyed my hair since accidentally using "Sun-in" as a teenager. I was self-conscious at the time, wearing braces. Now, I'm doing my best to reverse the greying with guesswork, more or less, but massaging with clove water and drinking fenugreek tea as well as taking many natural supplements, particularly as I have lots of health problems. I seem to be sensitive to light, especially artificial light, too. My body is nearly always in pain, and oxidative stress. I just got my prolactin levels tested, by random researchers. Learning new things as often as possible is surely necessary. It is such a confusing world in terms of human biology right now! My mother just go very bright halogen lights fitted all over her house, and my sister's hair has started to fall out. I'm wondering if there's a connection. I've noticed that greys look different under artificial lights/cloudy sky (blue-yellow light spectrum, then) yet blonde under sunlight. I'd love to know more about what transitions link hair regrowth in terms of light. Eg. When is blonde grey, and when is grey blonde?! Is that the middle ground of hair change? So much to learn yet.... I'm using henna and indigo powder once or twice per year to hide greys and recently decided to stop cutting my fringe in case it was maintaining the greys. I can't shake the feeling that my hairs don't like getting the chop! After massaging my hair, it feels strong and silky, although it only lasts for a few hours before appearing dry again. ;)

    This makes a lot of sense, so i’ve noticed if i wear my hair one way all day and then try to move it another direction or to the other side, my scalp/roots of my hair hurt really freaking bad. I had no i ldea why my HAIR hurt so much to move but it must be because my scalp is so tight! Holy shit i think i may have just figured my situation out with my hair loss. Spent 4 years of constant panic attacks/stress and i think that wound my scalp up with so much tension that i eventually started losing hairs. I literally have no one in my family with hair loss so it makes total sense. My dad still has a full head of hair at 63 although thin but still really good for his age. My grandpa on my moms side also still had a full head of hair at 88 when he passed last year. So this literally must be it cause theres no other genetic evidence from my family that would predispose me to balding. Im 29 now and first noticed hair thinning at 6 months into 27. Its slowly gotten worse but after just messaging my scalp this whole video it already feels great and i have this “relief” In my scalp now. Goodluck everyone!
